Speaking of critics, the show is already showing on Rotten Tomatoes with a 100% rating. It's still too early to have a real idea of it's final rating (there's only 5 reviews in), but it's a great start!

So apparently most of the episodes of season 2 leaked online already, I have not been able to find any. Here's a one review I found. View AttachmentI haven't seen anything about the show leaking. That small segment you posted is from WhatToWatch.com's review of the second season. All reviews that have been out were based on press screenings that Hulu sent out to critics, not leaks

Some of the cast and creatives of the show did two panels over the weekend

Michael (adorable as ever) was on Good Morning America. They showed a small scene from the new season with Victor and Mia.

Rotten Tomatoes already has 4 (fresh) reviews...
Grace from Beyond the Trailer also released her review. I don't really like her, but she's a pretty big YouTube reviewer, so good exposure for the show

I think, with this new season, they probably tried to find the "right" balance that would make the show more in line with other Hulu original series (and less in line with Disney+), but without alienating a big part of the already established audience that actually like the show because it doesn't rely so much on being edgy and hipersexual.

The trailer is approaching 5 million views and it hasn't even been a full week since it was released... I think this season is bound to do even better numbers than the first one

Season 2 trailer is out! yay! It looks like they managed to do a great job despite all the COVID restrictions... excited about the new season! Loved the poster too. BIG improvement over the first season poster (which was basically the Love, Simon poster with Victor on it lol)

Well - the team might actually have some practices/tryouts during the summer - even if the season wouldn't start until late in the fall (looking at the high school I went to - they started their schedule in normal years in early December - though this Covid season they didn't start until March this school year). So I think they could have done a shorter time jump if they had wanted. I mean, sure... I guess we'll have to wait and see how (and when) that time jump will fit in the timeline of the show to see how detrimental or beneficial it will be to story

really? all the main cast are friends, so it is entirely conceivable they will meet and hang out during summer break. Far as I remember, none of the cast were teachers, which would have required a school setting for them to appear. In fact, no. Andrew is not friend of any of them apart of Lake and Mia, and Mia probably is not in the best mood to be with Víctor or even Benji for a while Exactly... Andrew has no relationship with Victor other than both being on the same basketball team, and Mia is most definitely not hanging out with Victor and Benji on their Summer Break after what happened in the season finale. Other than that, the creators have mentioned many times how they wanted to tackle the dynamics of a school sports team having a gay athlete, so it's pretty obvious that they'll need the school setting for that.

Not happy they are doing a 10 week jump. His coming out to his parents and the fallout to that, along with him getting together with Benji. Seems like there was plenty of storyline avaliable that they decided to just skip over I think they'll probably still touch on all of that. I guess the 10 week jump is happening because they needed the show to go back to their school setting at one point, since season 1 finished right before summer break

Love, Victor (June 11, Hulu)
By the end of Love Victor’s season 1 finale, the title character (Michael Cimino) had built up the courage to finally come out to his parents. But the episode ended before he — and viewers — could see their reaction. Season 2 immediately resolves that cliffhanger, picking up in that tense moment before a 10-week time jump skips to the end of summer. “Victor gets a much deserved, really epic summer and start to the school year with his new boyfriend, Benji [George Sear],” co-creator and executive producer Isaac Aptaker reveals. But Victor’s happy bubble threatens to pop when he comes out again — this time publicly, at school — and some of his basketball teammates call foul. “The locker room is a really loaded, often scary place,” Aptaker says. —Sydney Bucksbaum

the show was different I hope Netflix does A season 2 but after what happen to the Society I bet on it I'm not holding my breath, but I would love to see a second season. I saw an interview with the creator and he said the show was pitched to Netflix as a multi-season series, but with COVID, the future definitely looks a bit blurry

Just finished the show and now I REALLY need a second season!
I love Chico... I wanna see what happens next!
Overall it was a very interesting show. I like how the virus storyline is quite allegorical when, underneath, the show is really about youth oppression, social power structures and class issues.
The visuals are quite stunning and I love that the gay character is the most flashed out (and interesting!)

I just randomly started watching this yesterday without knowing it had a gay character/storyline, and I came here to check if there was a thread about it.
I'm really loving it so far (I just watched the first 2 episodes)...
Fun fact: Chico is played by the actor Michel Joelsas who was in the original 'Julie and the Phantoms' here in Brazil

Not a surprise but it's good to know. I have great expectations for season 2. After watching some clips of another teens shows it's easy to understand why this was such a hit. Right now everything is dark and depressing, or edgy and shocking, it's curious that being a classic teen show was somehow swimming against the stream. And the characters are easy to relate. I still love how Victor sabotaged his night of sex with Mia. Catan was all an experience I agree! It has a very heartwarming quality and that most teen dramas lack these days. Hopefully they can cover new grounds on season 2 without losing that!

Speaking for Benji's screen time, I think they deliberately chose to portray him from Victor's perspective, like being this sort of mysterious "dream boy", which is a classic teen romance trope (both on TV and specially in movies), and even though Victor's great chemistry with both Mia and Benji gives us mixed signals, I feel like the show does a great job at differentiating how Victor feels about them. He truly cares and has a deep connection to Mia, but she's definitely not getting the "slow-motion-with-sexy-soundtrack" treatment lol I agree, we'd see Benji through Víctor's eyes in most scenes (which explain the slow motion and him acting like he was in a shampoo commercial), curiously the actor was able to do a good job and make the character likeable beyond being an idolized object of afection. I'm curious about the role Simon will play in the second season. More than the characters appearance (it'll be easy to introduce Simon and Bram on an episode because they were from the same place, so a visit home and you have the perfect excuse to show them) if they are going to keep using Simon as Víctor's online confident. It worked perfectly fine this season but i'm not that sure if they'll continue that route I also wonder how much of a presence Simon will have on season 2. I think it was very well done how they incorporated him on season 1 and how it linked the movie to the show, but I don't think he needs to be that heavily featured on future seasons. Now Victor will have friends to whom he can confide in (Simon was great when he didn't have that). Still, some few appearances would be cute

It was Hulu's biggest hit in a good while so there's no doubt it'll be a second season. I suppose that were the coronavirus crisis will be more controlled they'll give more details of the second season. I watched the whole season and they were very lucky. It's pretty obvious that Disney was behind this (Benji's screentime is the biggest clue) fortunately they make very very explicit with Víctor from the first scene and that helped a lot. It helped this was on a platform and not on traditional tv, because i think it benefitted a lot of binge watching. The first episodes are quite slow, and even they make quite clear the Víctor was fooling himself, the direction they took was pure Disney, make the storyline loooong before something happens. Fortunately that changes in the middle of the season, and by the end they did exactly the opposite of what you expect of a Disney show, instead of dragging the storyline they rushed it, Víctor kissed Benji, Víctor starts to date Benji, Lake and Felix became official and Víctor comes out on the cliffhanger. And in my oppinion that's a good sign, they have thing to tell and they don't want to stay in the same place forever (it's a good change in comparission of the two seasons of Andi Mack needed only for Cyrus and TJ holding hands). When i say they were lucky i was thinking in the cast. The cast has very good chemistry. On the other hand they will benefit a lot of a longer second season because they will probably need to introduce new characters and they need to develop the ones the have. We know Víctor, we know his family and we even know Mia, but the rest are totally unknown. We have hints of Felix (which is a very likeable character), Lake and Benji (he has little screentime for such important character but at least it was very productive screentime) and absolutely nothing of Andrew. So there's a lot of work to do. I liked the show for what it is (and it was quite refreshing they avoided the shock value and it's like to watch a teen gay storyline which is not build around bullying) and the most positive thing is that it became obvious that you can get a show with a gay main character and be successful (against all odds) Speaking for Benji's screen time, I think they deliberately chose to portray him from Victor's perspective, like being this sort of mysterious "dream boy", which is a classic teen romance trope (both on TV and specially in movies), and even though Victor's great chemistry with both Mia and Benji gives us mixed signals, I feel like the show does a great job at differentiating how Victor feels about them. He truly cares and has a deep connection to Mia, but she's definitely not getting the "slow-motion-with-sexy-soundtrack" treatment lol
