I, on the other hand, am enjoying the storyline more than I thought I would. As Junior have always been a smaller character, I thought his storyline wouldn't as much screen time as he's been getting lately. Aside from that, I see a lot of myself in him... it's been really easy to connect with his struggles when i was around his age.

I knew they would show the flashback in full at some point... didn’t wanna get my hopes up but they did something similar with a previous flashback so I knew it could happen. These two have such great chemistry and the “stolen” kiss was so cute.

As I said before, the storyline is going pretty much as I expected to be honest. One thing about telenovelas is that they LOVE to build up the anticipation for their romances (like, they REALLY love the buildup). Simona being a show targeted to 14 year-old girls, I knew they wouldn’t show much PDA with the characters, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they choose for a kiss to happen when the storyline gets to its climax (making the kiss at the flashback something that would’ve spoiled that moment). Again, being a show for “tweens” it’s hard to know how far they’ll go with PDA, but the show seems pretty on board with the storyline and blasnior relationship seems to be catching on with fans, so I’m staying confident. But they don't mind showing PDA for every other couple except the gay one? That is why I find it hypocritical. Even the straight couples don't get this kind of build up. They would have at least had a kiss by now. Like I said, I get what you're saying, I just see it more as an excuse so the writers can get away with showing one kiss in the last episode and that's it. As I said, being a show targeted at young girls, I never expected gay PDA to be very much present. It's definitely hypocritical that we see other people kiss, for sure, but I was just saying that they do love a buildup for the BIG storylines though, and Junior and Blas are no exception. Just look at the show's MAIN CHARACTERS and big love triangle, Simona + Romeo + Dante HAVEN'T KISSED YET... I mean... they've been milking very single drop they can before any kiss! I'm talking about over 70 episodes of long stares and kisses getting interrupted before they actually touch lips LOL Saying "the straight couples don't get this kind of build up" isn't really true in Simona's case... that's just what I've been saying. Both storylines are going as expected for these kind of shows... getting frustrated about the buildup is a losing battle

I actually don't see anything "abnormal" about the pace of this storyline at all overtherainbow As someone who have seen hundreds of telenovelas from all over, I can confirm they are generally pretty slow in development, and I actually feel this one is a bit faster than usual (just to show you how slow they can get a lot of times LOL). I understand the anxiety (and frustration with other soaps), but still, the show is only ending in September so they need to stretch storylines to still fill almost 5 months daily. This particular storyline was already on the synopsis from the very beginning, and people have been waiting since January for it to start developing. I don't get your worry about them "chickening out"... Aside from the fact that nothing really indicates that (everything seems to be developing just like everybody thought they would), this show in particular skews very young in demographics, so it wont have the problem other telenovelas had in dealing with an older and more conservative audience. I've been enjoying myself with the show... i'm pretty confident they will do a good job with it. Thanks for your reply. You're right. I guess it is developing as it should, I think I'm just impatient. I want something to happen, then drama, if that makes sense. I just think this part before they actually do get together is stretched out. I'm not even asking for them to get together tomorrow, I just want something to happen.. anything. It's been a month and still nothing. I probably just need to be patient, like you said. A cute video just released today to cheer you up www.facebook.com/simonaeltrece/videos/1937726912927724/

Yep! This show is from Argentina (airing everyday on weekdays). It started in January this year, but only recently they started developing the storyline between Junior (who's in the closet) and Blas (who's gay and out).

For anyone interested, the YouTube channel TVC has been uploading this full storyline for the first time on YouTube... no english subtitles, though I decided to revisit the show as it aired originally in 2005 (when I was still in high school) and even though it had it's problems, it was the first time there was a major gay character on a Brazilian Soap that I could identify with. It definitely left a big impression on me.

I'm done with this storyline, now Fede claims that he's not gay. Ok then. I haven't been watching the full episodes for a while now until I see actual proof they are going forward with Fede being gay. The back-and-forth the show has been doing is super off-putting, so I wont be watching to not get invested... I'll keep a safe distance just in case lol The show's twitter account keep teasing he could be lying about not being gay with tweets yesterday and today saying stuff like: - "(...) tough times for Fede trying to prove to others and prove to himself that if he likes women" - "Fede had his first sexual experience but it was not what he imagined... is he gay or not?" - "In the present, Fede decides to confess to Luz that Dany is not the one he likes but her. So do you think Fede likes men or women?? How far does your confusion go? Do not miss a single episode" It feels like we're being fooled

That would be a bummer , but now that you said it... it would make sense. Still, it would be such an anticlimactic conclusion I'm literally so confused after Fede had sex with that girl. A lot gets lost in translation. Did he enjoy it or not? At first I thought he was trying too hard, like he had to convince himself that yes, he likes girls, and that's why he had sex. I actually thought this could be good, to progress the story, because he'd realize that he was gay after having sex with her. But he didn't? Instead he kissed her. So did he actually enjoy it? And if he did, does it mean he's straight or bisexual or what? I mean, maybe he's still in denial, but it doesn't make much sense after the talk he had with his parents. Idk.. I don't think he's gay, more like bi or ace imo, or maybe straight after all Yep, that was super confusing, but I feel like that was the point. The juxtaposition for Fede having sex with a girl in the past (with that look in his face that was very "obvious" he wasn't liking it) and him later (at the present) telling that other girl that he liked her (who btw was upset about him breaking Dan's heart, the guy he kissed) feels like a way they found to build a "bridge" between the two timelines, while still keep people guessing. It could mean that he got the answer to his dilemma (which feels way too "simple" in my opinion, like, so he "knows" he likes girls and now what? There's no story) OR he has been living in denial for the whole 3 years (which not only makes the storyline more complex, but also works better for the long term of the character). I don't know

Fede: I didn't know we were back Dad: Doing your homework? Fede: yes Dad: How are you doing in school? Fede: Good, good... Dad: and with everybody else? Fede: Alright dad, if you wanna know something, why don't you ask me directly? Wanna know if I like girls or not? Dad: See, all I want you to know is that we love you with all our heart and that you'll have all the support from your mother and me Fede: and what if I told you that I don't like them (girl)? Dad: Sincerely, I wouldn't know what to respond to you because it has never crossed my mind, but I wanted you to know that a big part of parenting is learning this... that you (children) are free... Fede: so... Dad: Whatever you decide, it's alright. The important is that you are happy, that you can find your happiness. Fede: Would it hurt you? Dad: No... if I see you're happy, no. The important is that you get fulfillment, that you seek what you want to achieve in your life. I love you, Fede. I love you, son. Fede: Thanks, dad. *cries* Dad: Let's get dressed to receive our guests *Dad walks away* Fede: Dad! You know that maybe I do not define myself yet, but I will. I'm going to do it Dad: *Dad smiles* OMG thank you so much <3 I'm glad Fede's parents are so accepting. You're right in that if not for Fede's inner turmoil there would be no storyline, though some parts of the storyline still annoys me, I just can't help it. I guess we'll see how it all turns out, I'm cautiously optimistic. Just the fact that his parents are accepting is progress imo, same with the gay kiss, even though Fede ended up rejecting him. Hopefully we'll get one more before the novela is over I does bother me as well, but I always have to remember myself that Latin America is still in the "baby steps" phase regarding LGBT visibility in soaps/telenovelas, so it's a process... LOL At this point having a gay storyline at all is a victory. I'll keep myself cautiously optimistic as you mentioned

SPOILER DISCUSSION: Yeah... he doesn't look particularly "excited" about having sex with this girl. I guess you're probably right about where this is heading. It's definitely not a very original take in general, but it's a big step forward in terms of gay storylines in Latin America (or more specifically, Mexico). I hope there is an actual develepment to this storyline, as Latin America has a long history of teasing interesting storylines and then dropping it =(MORE SPOILER DISCUSSION: Sadly I think you're right. Like I said in an earlier post it seriously looks like Fede has gone back in the closet. I wouldn't necessarily say this storyline is done well, not only is it a pretty straightforward coming out storyline, it's now also retconned. Like.. why would Fede tell his dad he's confused, then hold hands with Lola? Sure, it was in the "past", but still. To me that doesn't make much sense. I realize he hasn't come out yet, don't get me wrong, and it is normal to be confused and to experiment, but if you have reached that point of "I'm probably not straight", as Fede clearly has, why then try to hook up with a girl? It's just sad to see. I wish they would move forward and let Fede be less in denial about who he is, and enough with the "I don't want to be gay so I'm gonna go have sex with a girl." He's clearly suffering from internalized homophobia. I'm 99.9 % sure now that Lola is the girl Fede has sex with in the preview for this week, yes, his half sister , he didn't know at that time, since it's in the past, but still. I hope he used a condom or stopped before it went too far, though it certainly looks like he's in the middle of the act in the preview. One good thing about this is that Lola has to have an abortion, because she can't really have his kid, lol. My guess though is that it will be a "who is the baby daddy" storyline, with the options being Fede and the guy who Lola is with in the "now" scenes. This is the last thing I wanted to see, and I have no idea why I still watch, idk maybe because Fede is cute and I want to see him finally come out and to have a happy ending with Dany. I want them to end up together, though sadly I won't be surprised if they drop it like you said, it's typical telenovelas to tease interesting storylines then drop it. They have teased Fede coming out to his dad, his mom etc.. yet the only thing he's said is that he's "confused", and now he'll sleep with a woman (at least he looks disgusted though). We had that one gay kiss, but he rejected it. My guess (hope) is that the sex with his half sister (lol) will lead to him realize he's gay, finally admitting it to himself, then to Nico. But again, telenovelas always drag out everything, if Fede's storyline ends with no resolution, him not coming out and still being "confused" I wouldn't be surprised. I hope they prove me wrong though. For once I want to see a good gay storyline in a telenovela. They didn't drop the ball on the gay kiss, not censoring it is a huge deal, hopefully they'll follow through with the rest of the storyline too.MORE SPOILER DISCUSSION: The kiss is what got me hopeful this storyline is going somewhere. Gay kisses on Latin American TV are still such HUGE statements that I can't believe they would air that without having plans to go on with Fede's gay storyline. Another aspect that make me hopeful even with the whole "am I?"/"am I not?" is that his parents are OK with him being gay, so if it wasn't for his own personal turmoil with it and the complications that come with it, there would be no conflict regarding him being gay and as a consequence, no storyline. Still, I'll keep my expectations low to not get disappointed

I just randonly saw the kissing video. I hope this goes somewhere. Also, is it a big deal to have a gay kiss on a telenovela? Here in Brazil I can count in one hand the number of LGBTQ+ kisses we've had on novelas. Definitely a big deal. Mexico has had an even worse track-record than Brazil up until the last few years. Things have been improving a lot recently though, so that's good

Preview of episodes this week: SPOILER DISCUSSION: I'm 99 % sure he's having sex with a girl. At first I thought it was a guy, because it seemed like the person had short hair, but then I noticed the earring and I was like "that explains it", lol. He is clearly uncomfortable having sex with her. It's dumb and cliché, but it is realistic. It happens to many guys before they come out, some gay men have sex with women, it's not unheard of. It's a very "done before" gay storyline, but I guess it's a first and well done for latin tv. I think this will move the story forward too. He clearly didn't enjoy it, if this will make him realize he's gay, I'm all for it. Now he just needs to come out to Nico and then apologize to Dany and then get with him SPOILER DISCUSSION: Yeah... he doesn't look particularly "excited" about having sex with this girl. I guess you're probably right about where this is heading. It's definitely not a very original take in general, but it's a big step forward in terms of gay storylines in Latin America (or more specifically, Mexico). OMG, what happened, why did he pull out??? >_< aaaaa, that kiss is cute tho Fede is still confused about his sexuality. I only have a very limited knowledge of Spanish, but I think I get the gist of what's going on. A lot has happened these last few episodes. Fede found out his dad is not really his dad, he gained another family with his actual biological dad. Turns out Lola and Nico are now his siblings, in addition to Mia. They're all his half siblings. Anyway, this telenovela switches between past time and present time, which can get kinda confusing at times (it took me literally two weeks to realize this, I was so confused when Raquel, Fede's mom, kept kissing different guys lol and why her hairstyle kept changing, I feel so stupid ). Anyways, in one of the "past time" scenes we see Lola and Fede getting closer and Fede flirting with Lola (ew.. considering she's his half sister it's kinda gross, he didn't know at the time though). Mia notice what's going on and calls him out on it. Fede is like "first you think I'm gay, then you think I'm into Lola.. so which is it? Am I gay or into Lola?" I'm paraphrasing, but yeah, that's basically what happened. Mia suggests he might be bisexual, maybe he likes both. I think it would be cool if he was btw, there's not much bi representation in latin media. Note: Fede never once said he was gay, even in his coming out scene to his mom he just said he was confused and that maybe he's gay. When he and Lola talked he said "I'm not gay" then followed up with "I don't know." Raquel (Fede's mom) told Fede's dad that Fede was confused about his sexuality, not that he was actually gay. I think Fede likes Dany (the guy who kissed him). He's just still confused and scared, which is why he backed off. He doesn't know what he is yet. I decided watching this in full from the beginning because I couldn't understand what was going on from the clips I was watching on YouTube and finally got that the story was switching from past to present and back... it was indeed very confusing LOL Funny how 3 telenovelas currently on air on Televisa have gays characters. Hopefully this one goes somewhere... The kiss got me hopeful it will and that Fedde is just "confused" still.

Oh cool, nice to see Portugal going further. I could help with the translations, but not right now. Maybe in July, during winter break. edit: Henrique says he's a civil engineer, not an architect. Hmmm. LOL I always get those construction jobs mixed up I watched the 24 parts that have been uploaded so far. I understood a decent amount of the dialogues since Portuguese is quite close to Spanish. It seems to be still a story to build, because Ricardo and Henrique don't have feelings for each other (despite they have slept 4 times together). Henrique won't be with a closet-case and Ricardo doesn't want to be gay. I wouldn't say they love each other or have any deep feelings at this point of the storyline, but they certainly have some feelings for each other... but I agree there's still a lot set to happen regarding the characters themselves and their relationships

Its great to see how things have gradually changed in Portuguese television about gay characters. Geez, those kissing scenes are hot af. Hope we can have engsub soon. great indeed! It's a big contrast from "Ninguém Como Tú", which was first aired in 2005 and had no kisses lol I think "O Beijo do Escorpião" broke a lot of taboos...

RICARDO AND HENRIQUE ARE THE LATEST GAY COUPLE OF PORTUGUESE TELEVISIONAfter "Morangos com Açúcar", "Ninguém como Tú" and "Os Nossos Dias" from TVI Network and "Os Nossos Dias" from RTP, it's now time for SIC network to give us a gay storyline on one of their top rated prime-time telenovelas. "Amor Maior" (Greater Love), is a Portuguese soap opera currently airing on SIC, featuring the storyline of Ricardo (Tiago Teotónio Pereira) and Henrique (Tiago Aldeia), two guys from opposite worlds who happen to meet in a hostel. The attraction and chemistry between the two is undeniable, and both end up getting involved. In one way the story has the "classic" struggles of the "out gay men" x "closeted gay man" romance, but it's also nice that both characters have storylines of their own, aside from their romance. Ricardo is a hacker who works for a criminal organization which leads to a lot of problems including with his family, and Henrique is a architect who after getting fired for being gay in Dubai, moves to Lisbon to live at his sister-in-law's hostel without knowing a big secret (that I'm not gonna spoil) Their storyline started in January and is set to end in September when the novela finishes. Televisão Online has been uploading their storyline on their Vimeo channel weekly: Televisão Online VIMEO
Unfortunately it doesn't have English subtitles yet, but the storyline is getting quite popular on the internet so I'm sure it will get someone to subtitle it soon (like with all the previous Portuguese storylines)
Here's a couple of "trailers" from the storyline on YouTube

My mom was a huge fan of this show and I actually got to watch the first couple of season with her on DVD when I was younger. It's a shame Al Corley (who played Steven in the first 2 seasons) left the show, cause the other actor they replaced him with (can't remember his name) was so bland. but the replacement was much more attractive I actually don't think so, but to each their own! lol I personally think Al Corley was a very good looking men with stronger features (plus, a better actor). The other one looked like a Ken doll and was pretty dull acting-wise.
