I'm going to translate the first scene (Iago-Beni) of episode 1703. If someone wants another one, let me know it. But what Iago does is try to convince Eli and Ivan to be together. But this is difficult. Eli cant forgive Ivan's past.

Meidocfan, thanks for your kind words, but I desagree about Marc's hair and about El Cor now.
About TVIST interview, the actors talk about their Xmas gifts, and Marc says he had a machine for doing bread and brioches. He likes it!
About El Cor now, I think his begining this year is good. All the story line with Ros's death is interesting, and Ivan&Eli's story is almost as beautiful as Iago&Max's one. Everybody want to see them together! (in Spain or in Colombia!). And there are several new stories:
- This Berta's friend who follows Iago, and maybe is someone related to Iago's father.
- The new Beni's work with his friend Forques, a music producer and one of the members of his band, "Los imparables", who is gay (another gay character near Iago). We know he's gay because Max thought he was his biological father (before knowing Beni), and he had an embarrasing situation because the man who he thought to be his father was flirting with him! We dont know anything more about him and this is an oportunity to develop this character.
- A girl in the official forum knows the actress who plays Dhara, the Hiresh sister, and after Jaunary 28th she has an important story line because in La Fusteria there will be Boollywood dances. This is new in a spanish series. Barcelona has a movie theater that plays Boollywood movies because there is an important paquistanese (and also indian) comunity, the most important in Spain.
- Another story line thas has begun is the naked men's chalendar. In the past trimester, there were several stories about the naked women's one: the Fidel&Sara's divorce is one of its consequences. In fact, someone in the official forum said if we will see Fede, the photografer, flirting with Iago! (He's straight, but he likes to break couples!). Someone else also talks about doing a campaign to get Iago in this chalendar.
-I dont see specially gay temed stories and movies, but I think all this Iago missing Max, and his relationship with his father-in-law Beni, is new. Ad how Beni looks after his son's interests! We can see it in the first scene of ep. 1703.
Iago and Beni are in Peris, with a box.
IAGO: Open it, Max is your son.
BENI: Ah, damm, open you it, he sent it to both of us, dont be a donkey!
IAGO: This is for me (he opens his gift)
BENI: Ha, ha!
IAGO: Damm, a bracelet. I also had bought a bracelet for him (he puts it)
BENI: You both have read your minds each other, or you arent originals, ha, ha, It`s a joke. Look if you are made each other, that you do the same gift, ha, ha (opens his gift) Look, it's... exhuberant, it's..... exotic... it's a woman.... (sounds Iago's phone. He's so concentrate in his Max's gift that doesnt listen to it!) Take your phone!
IAGO: It's Gonzalo, for going to the movies.
BENI: He ought not to call you, and also you if you're with Max.
IAGO: I dont see any problem, if I talk with him about Max, about I'm with him.
BENI: I think you ougth to have a distance

Thank you, Carmela! Interesting turn for Beni. Not long ago he was very anxious for Iago to go out and stop moping about Max. It seems he draws the line at Iago seeing someone who is romantically interested in him. (Very sensible, really.)
I'm looking forward to the Eli/Ivan story. These are two very appealing young actors (I think). El Cor is a little heavy on "mature"
(old!) characters. But I still think that Bernat Quintana will return late in the season (I hope before the finale) and we will get some kind of resolution to the Max/Iago story -- depending on whether or not the actors are willing to return for next season. If there is a next season. And a good Eli/Ivan story line could keep me entertained for a while. I also really like the idea of Merce working at the bar. I found Nelson's reaction to working with her the other day very funny. In any case, I enjoy this forum and really appreciate the folks who post here.

Gonzalo finally makes his move.
Rafa has warned Iago that he should not see Gonzalo but Iago says they are just friends. At the bar a girl tries hitting on Iago so he grabs Gonzalo's hand and tells her they are gay. Gonzalo takes this the wrong way and kisses Iago twice. Iago from what I can tell lets Gonzalo know he's not interested.
Elsewhere Eli admits to Sandra she is still in love with Ivan and talks to Sergi about getting Interpol involved in Ros's disappearance.

Ep 1705 Gonzalo finally makes his move. bernarfan1, may I make a plea to you not to post any photos of THAT  KISS. It was so terrible to watch and I've not felt well since. All I can say is how I admired Iago and how he kept really so cool, then told Gonzalo exactly what he thought, and how displeased he was. I just hope that Gonzalo has learnt his lesson and we aren't going to be subjected to any more of his attempts. By the way bernatfan, many thanks for the info and photos of Enric Rodriguez. I hardly recognised him when I first looked at the first photo. Do we know any more about the plot of the play? No problem with the kiss pic. Was not something I would really need to see again. I could almost imagine Marc telling the director, you know I could just deflect him so we don't actually have to kiss! Here's a synopsis of the play Hikikomori straight from the translator so it may not be very clear. Hikikomori is based on a bloody reality: that of young Japanese who, unexpectedly, decided to shut out their rooms and not leaving it for years. These guys are called Hikikomori (insulation), remain tètricament reclosos, avoiding any contact with the outside world, dedicated exclusively to watch TV, listen to music, surf the net and escape with the game. Eludeixen any human contact, even with the members of the family, with which it coexists within a domestic, but who does not maintain any kind of interaction. But even this renunciation of life, out in the real world, life continues. And this is precisely what's going on in Hikikomori: Life is still going on now as he has decided to press the pause button.  |

I would certainly like to see Max, too, but I imagine that's off the table until he actually returns to the show (which I optimistically believe he will do). I only understood some of the dialogue after the kiss -- but I didn't like Gonzalo trying to undermine Iago's faith in Max. Carmela, can you help us with a translation? Will Iago tell Beni? Or Rafa, who already warned him? Anyway, it sure made the episode more interesting than usual.

Yes, it's the plays plot. I'm going to see this play, the theater is 15 minutes from my home walking! Enric Rodriguez, al Bernat Quintana, is studying in the Institut del Teatre, and doing very good plays. Also, the best actors in El Cor. Ferran Rañé (Gerard) is doing a comedy, and Alex Casanovas (Fidel) and Santi Ibañez (Beni), play together another work.
This sunday I've watched Bernat in Dublin Carol. The principal character is and old man who makes an almost monologue. Bernat (Marc is his character's name!) makes well his answerbach... abd send the old man to hell (like Max!). Well done, and phisically he is perfect, he has a clasic (Greek) profile, and hishair is very beautiful. Tall, slim... I find he's more attractive in person (at 2 metres in the small theater!) that in movies or TV series. I hope we will see him with Marc/Iago, Iagomax scenes with Bernat now will be more unforgetables!
Jaunary 28 opens in Barcelona (Versus Teatre) "Bufals", during three weeks. While this time, they will prepare the second part, "Lleons", that opens in march near there, in the official Teatre Nacional de Catalunya (Sala Tallers)

Eli has a mess, she solves Ivan, but she cant forgive him his past. In the letter, he said he loves her, and this is the reason why he has canges and laked her about his past (like Iago did whith Max). and he's waiting her answer to come back with her (like Iago, he's ready for letting all and go with his beloved). Bernat said at the end of the past season that Max would have forgiven Ivan. But he's now in a mess (as Eli) and I think not only for all about Clara, also for all what he suffered for Iago (Radovan etc), and Iago knows it and he cant cheat Max. Elineeds now his brother to solve her mess, and for this reason she forgives him all the bad things she thinks he's doing her now. She asked Sandra to go to Amsterdam, but Sandra doesnt want to do it and then Eli talked whith Sergi, who thorought Interpol will search if Ros is in a mess somewhere. |

So I am prolly going to piss alot of people off but what the hey...here goes... I am prolly one of the only people on this board who is actually really interested in the potential Iago-Gonzalo pairing or lack thereof..... I read this board often and am yet to see anyone who likes it so here I am Lets face it, Iago is a hottie, Max is a hottie....of course they would fall for each other...how could they not? for me Gonzalo represents the everyday gay........ In whatever dynamics of our relationships, we all know or are a Gonzalo...the plain looking guy who falls for someone who on paper is waaaay out of their league. its realistic....And I like how they have treated the dynamics of the duo. Gonzalo is a regular guy who knows he is gay and puts his heart on the line to kiss the guy he is into.....If i was into a stud and got a chance to do it I totally would..... And I went to el cor's website and the scene with iago and Gonzalo by the ATM is featured, and it was portrayed very beautifully.....both actors were great in it, and I was worried how gonzalo would pull it off, and to be honest I thought it was very sweet. I guess this is my long way of saying that, I know everyone on this board is a homer for Iago and Max, and we all know that Bernat has moved on to other things, will he come back ?maybe.... or maybe not. If Iago's character is all about him pining for Max, where is the drama in that? Give Gonzalo a chance is all I guess I am getting at. He is not a troll.... he is just a sweet simple Catalan dude looking for love....  End of speech: I am expecting it so let the mauling begin... ;D |

No mauling. But after having watched the story of Iago and Max it would be hard to accept Iago with anyone else. Don't you believe in true love? And I believe Max will be back (can you tell I'm an optimist?).
Carmela, thank you, thank you for the translation (we missed you the last couple of days). I'm truly jealous that you saw Bernat in person -- I'll be so disappointed if he doesn't return to El Cor! (Eventually.)
So, Iago has made himself clear. As to what's next for Iago/Gonzalo, I'm not sure. I don't really see how the friendship continues. I just hope we continue to have a Iago story line.

I would like to see a story between Iago and Gonzalo, mainly because I want to see Iago on screen and happy. We don't know if Max/Bernat is coming back, so why should Iago continue to live.
I don't want to see Iago cheat on Max, and maybe the writers should start off by showing that Iago is struggling over his feelings for Gonzalo, and they can show that he has been talking off screen with Max about the situation. If I can't have Max and Iago then Max and Gonzalo is a good second choice.

I can't help saying something now! The scene in 1705 really makes me feel disappointed...... Yes, waiting for Max's coming back is a hard time but watching Iago being kissed by other man is much harder than that. If El Cor's writer, producer or something really make Iago and Gonzalo be together. I won't want to watch El Cor anymore  If I missed Marc, I would rather choose Marc's new series, El Comisario! |

The Max and Iago storyline was great. I haven't seen a lot of storylines, where gay men are the focus but their sexuality isn't the main thing that drives the story. That being said, El Cor is a soap, and it's purpose is to to show storylines that have an impact on the characters and stories that allow the characters to grow. If Bernat doesn't want to come back, that should have no impact on the writers continuing to write for Mark, and for them to give him stories that allow Iago to grow and deepen as a character, and stories that give Iago a shot at being happy. Bernat not coming back, or Iago falling in love again won't diminish or change the great Max/Iago story that we saw, the impact that the story had on Iago as a character, or the fact that Max was Iago's first love. In fact, like everything that Iago has gone through, if the writers are good, they will use the Max and Iago story to help define future Iago storylines.

I usually don't comment because I can't really follow any of the clips without subtitles or direct translations so I try to just wait patiently for the subtitled clips and I'm happy evama is still doing those and very grateful.
However, it seems that the writers and directors of El Cor want to have their cake and eat it too.
Marc Colet is a wonderful actor and a beautiful man and he should get to have more than one great love story if he's going to continue to be on El Cor.
I'd hate to see Iago become one of those gay characters that never gets to date or fall in love because the directors don't want to have to hire more potential dates for him (look what has happened to wonderful Roman of AWZ)
Max and Iago will forever hold an incredible place in our hearts and I am so disappointed that if Bernat really isn't coming back, they wouldn't have just given Iago some closure.
I feel cheated. Iago and Max never, ever got to just be happy and in love and living a regular life. Max and Enric got to have loads of time where they just hung out and snuggled and we got to see them waking up together and going to bed together.
Max and Iago's love was completely convincing and the actors chemistry was Off The Charts but we never got to see them just relax and be a couple and support someone else's storyline when one of them wasn't in mortal peril or they weren't homeless or one of them wasn't fighting with one of Max's parents.
Iago and Gonzalo have more dates then Max and Iago got to have.
It's all very unfair.
It breaks my heart to say it but if Bernat has left El Cor for good and no longer wants to portray the character Max, then the writers need to have the courage to just let Max be gone for good and allow Iago to move on with his life (after a reasonable grieving process).

But I don't think Max (Bernat) has left for good! And I do hope we will have the chance to see Max and Iago back together, happy, and planning a life together. I think we just need to wait it out while Bernat Quintana takes a break to do some other things (which he has done before and then returned to the show). Whether or not Bernat will return for any length of time is another question, I think.

I agree with darcolover55, I'm on the team that thinks that Iago should go on with his life (specially if Bernat has no intentions to coming back to El Cor).
As a viewer I don't like to spend the next months watching Iago only crying over Max or selling vegetables. What a waste for such a beautiful and complex character! I guess that it's not so challenging for Marc either. If you add this to the rumour that maybe this would be the last series of El Cor, the situation is even worse, cause I'd like to see a character I love so much happy in the end, with or without Max.

My ideal situation would be for Max to come back and Iago and Max get to have a life together. That is the endgame for me.
But lots of actors take a leave from a show and they have a definite date of return (they are leaving for one season or for a specific set of months, etc.
Unless I'm misinterpreting the posts from folks who are translating the Catalan, it seems that Bernat has just left with no Specific indication when or if he will return to El Cor.
I guess that's what makes me worry. I can totally deal with the idea that Max will be away and while he is gone we get to learn more about Iago as a separate person and Iago gets to settle in and become more of a member of the community.
What I can't accept is this idea that Max is gone indefinitely after everything Iago and he went through to protect each other and be together. Max just being gone without any real idea of when or if he will return is too much for anyone to take, even though Iago loves him so much.

***all my limbs are intact I see**** I too am glad my measly observation has generated an honest adult discussion about this. And I dont know if my previous comment showed it, but I LOVE the pairing of Max and Iago. They were a great coupling whereby their sexuality was secondary. That in itself was great. And sure we all would have loved to see them all giggly and in love, but for whatever reason, the wheels turned as they did. I would not feel cheated about the Max/Iago situation... They may not have had the cuddly scenes you sought, but their love was manifested in a way that spoke in how they went the distance for each other. I also dont want iago to cheat on Max, though I think in this case the definition is in the eye of the beholder. Max left pretty abruptly...(and I guess that is the writers' problem)... but with all the data we have on hand...lets face it, Max abandoned Iago. Sure we have scattered mentions of them chatting on IM, but thats it. Max was to come home for the holidays then at the very last minute cancels? I am sorry but if I was in iago's shoes I would feel pretty alone. On a nostalgic front, sure I want Max to come back and they live happily ever after/ride of into the sunset......but this is a soap opera...for dramatic purposes would it not make sense for Iago to move on, and if Max comes back to have to fight for him?....am just sayin' I'll stop there for now...  |

Maybe the writers meant for us to see that Max left abruptly, and that he didn't seem to take Iago's feelings into consideration. Maybe it wasn't poor writing, but a part of the storyline. I have a feeling that that aspect, as well as Max not visiting, will be used in the future to set-up conflict for Iago.

Hi, everybody!
Today, we all have tears with Iago!
Well, we know now who his father is! His name is Abel, Abel Vilches. The spoilers say he will say he's a Berta's friend, so this is what he will say to Iago.
The conversation between Iago and Beni is wanderful, and shows what does a father. Beni is a father for Iago, all this about Gonzalo has made blood in his hearth (the most wonderful sentence of the season: "Iago, your hearth is bigger than your breast"), and Iago needs a friend. This Abel will be a friend... and another time, Iago's hearth will blood when he knew Abel is his father! Poor Iago, he's now in a mess, Beni tell him he is with him (and the beautiful hug seen by Abel shows Beni is really his father, not this man!)
In the first scene whith Marga, he talks about his visits to Berta's grave, the flowers she liked, and how he miss Max. I will translate both scenes.
Now, there are several questions about Gonzalo/Max.
CAITLIMP, I agree, I think now all that about this Max going out this way isnt a writer's mistake, has a purpose in Iagomax story line. Now, we can see why this coming/not coming back of Max on Xmas: to arrive to the Iago/Gonzalo scene at ATM. Iago doesnt dislike Gonzalo, Gonzalo kisses Iago, Iago closes his eyes when this happens and gives to Gonzalo an oportunity to the second kiss, but he remembers Max and he cant cheat him.
Fist of all, I remember what is one of the goals of El Cor: amuse, but showing how people ought to behavior. It teaches the lenguage (catalan) to the newcomers (subtitled in Spanish and Arabic), but also breaks prejudices. The three Iago's dialoges of ep. 1705 fight against the idea of gay people as promiscuous. The message is this: Despite what Max did in Xmas, Iago doesnt cheat him and resist the temptation when another man he doesnt dislike kisses him. We know Iago, he though to close with Max at home several days when he arrived, and from September to Jaunary, there are four months he doesnt did it. But he will wait Max "what it will be needed".
I think all this has a purpose: all people in Catalonia who see El Cor (and today have tears with Iago!) now are identified with him (as also do with the other beautiful character with a beautiful love story, Eli). If we think who is Iago, who was Iago, all this is wonderful! I talked several months ago with a catalan gay activist about Max&Iago love story. He told me he likes it very much (of course!), and that their characters do much more for the gay rigths than all the campaings that can be done.
I have to say I think that, if Max/Bernat doesnt come back, for me Gonzalo is a good option. MEIDOFAN, I know you desagree. You remember me one of the three Iagomax.com girls, Nuria, that cant sleep from she saw how Iago closed his eyes during the Gonzalo's kisses. Dont warry, Iago liked the kisses, but he stoped Gonzalo when he remembered Max.
But I agree I prefer (and hope) to see Max with him. The question is if he will come back. El Cor has been always before another series about homosexuality, and Spanish series have always gay or lesbian characters that marry (and divorce). Also, we have seen lesbian families (like in El Cor Isabeleta, Charlote and Rafalet). But there is a hole: gay families in a soap. 66% of Spanish people are for gay/lesbian marriage, and almost the same percentage, I think, for lesbian families. But gay families are more discussed. Well, Iago is the ideal character to be the first gay daddy in a Spanish soap.
MEIDOCFAN: About El Comisario, it had a low audience and Tele5 decided not to aired a next season. Marc can be in El Cor if there is a tenth season!

KISS. It was so terrible to watch and I've not felt well since. All I can say is how I admired Iago and how he kept really so cool, then told Gonzalo exactly what he thought, and how displeased he was. I just hope that Gonzalo has learnt his lesson and we aren't going to be subjected to any more of his attempts.
If I missed Marc, I would rather choose Marc's new series, El Comisario!
