It looks like Elliot is going to be like a big brother to Lola.

I wasn't expecting Daphne to be Benny. That was a surprise. Glad they found Lola before she did anything. I'm glad they never had her try it on with Elliott. I was really afraid they were going to go back to the trope of the cheating bisexual.

Personally I think they were trying to do too much this season, especially for just ten episodes. I think this should have been Daphne's season and through that introduce Lola so that we get to know her and care for her before making a season focusing on her.

I understand that. But to me personally, this was the weakest of the seasons of Skam France, because I don't care about Lola and found her unlikable. There is a difference between being able to sympathize/empathize with a character and liking the character. While I synthesize/empathize with Lola, I don't like her. I get that they wanted to create a new friend group so that the show could continue. But I think they did a disservice to Lola as a character by having the focus on her, instead of introducing us to her through Daphne's story. I think they realize this as well because of how many other things they threw into this season which to me made it have a disconnected feel. To throw in Daphne's eating disorder the way they did and only have 10 episodes to deal with everything. I mean come one there was: Lola and mother's death, Lola and her depression, Lola and her addiction, Lola and cyber bullying, Lola and her new friends, Lola and Elliot, Lola and Maya, Lola and her fathers, then for shits and giggles Daphne and her eating disorder. This season came off to me as disjointed. And if it doesn't end with one or both of these girls in a clinic somewhere it will be sending a very dangerous message. Because both of them need professional help. Hell an augment can be made that the entire family needs professional help.

Yes I think they did a disservice throwing in the eating disorder for Daphne when she wasn't the focus character of this season. There were really too many issues and they didn't give many of them the time and attention they deserved, but most of all Daphne's eating disorder. It sounds like this was very much the final season of Skam France and that was probably why they decided to throw everything they had left into it like some kitchen sink. They should just have let Daphne have this final season - between her mother's death, her father's depression and her eating disorder there was enough to complete a season, with Lola as a supporting character who could launch a new generation.
I also noted how bizarre it was that they would make the central protagonist of this season a character we didn't even know existed before last season's finale. My guess is they wanted to tackle an alternate sexuality and Daphne did not fit the bill, plus they already had one bisexual girl among the original girl gang (Alexia) who featured heavily in season 5 as Arthur's girlfriend. I still think they should have made Arthur bisexual and his alternate love interest Camille - the deaf boy. If you really want to tackle a sexual orientation that is rarely seen onscreen, male bisexuality is it.

What annoys me is that for two seasons they had been building up Daphne's eating disorder and how her mother's issues played into that, only for them to do this. It's not just a disservice to the characters of Daphne and Lola but to the fans who have been waiting to see how they would tackle the subject. For them to just throw it in there and seemingly resolve it the way they did after two seasons of leaving bread crumbs about her issues....I can't.
Like I said I understand they wanted to introduce a new friend group, but that could have been done through Lola while telling Daphne's story.

I'm going to miss this show so much. It wasn't perfect but it was still one of the better remakes. I'm glad they got two extra seasons because ending it on season 4 (which was the weakest season IMO) would have been an unworthy conclusion. I really wish they would continue with a new cast, and some occasional cameos from the originals, because they obviously have a really good setup behind-the-scenes to produce this. Ideally the same crew can do a new teen drama, without the Skam branding or the "real time" mini-episodes. And then they won't have any outside interference to derail their vision. I was annoyed to read that the France team intended to make Daphne the main character this season but were forced to drop their plans.

From what I've read it is renewed for a 7th and 8th season. thetimeshub.in/skam-france-renewed-for-seasons-7-and-8-thanks-to-you-the-adventure-will-always-further/31185/

Thanks for the news. The season 6 finale (and the publicity videos) seemed very final, but maybe that was just the farewell for the original cast. I'm glad they will get 2 more seasons, but I hope that, if they're moving on from the original cast of characters, the France team will have more creative freedom to do what they want. The other remake I hope will get more seasons is WTFock. Does anyone know the status of Skam Italia, since Netflix revived it for a 4th season that already aired more than a month ago? I've not been able to see it - it doesn't seem to be available on Netflix outside Italy? - so I don't know if it also ended definitively with no chance of more seasons, at least with the same cast. I really wish one of them would make an Even counterpart-centric season, since (to my knowledge) there isn't any TV show in the Western world with a bi male lead. Or they can introduce a bi male POC if they go with a new cast.
