I'm happy about this also, kinda surprised too. I think Julie Andem had a big say in this. I'm really happy Arthur will be the focus of season 5 but I don't think Julie Andem was the one who came up with the idea; more likely she just agreed to what the French showrunner proposed. Since original Skam ended, she has not shown any inclination to showcase male central protagonists; the one remake which she is helming (Skam Austin) totally deleted the gay character and assuming it follows the trajectory of original Skam, girls will be the focus of every season 1-4. I respect your Opinion.

Based on the AMA that Julie did recently for /r/skam (https://www.reddit.com/r/skam/comments/btb01c/hello_reddit/), she doesn't really work with the remakes, NRK does. The only exception is Austin since she was executive director there. Since she has now left that show, it is likely that Austin would also diverge from her original vision for Skam Austin.
Considering she said that she watches the remakes through fan translations, I would be surprised if she has some secret knowledge/influence on them.
While I think we all like to blame these changes we don't like on a "Big Bad" like Julie, the more probable person to blame are the writers/directors of each remakes. They all like to put their own spin or changes so they can make it more "Italian"/"French"/"Spanish" etc.

They all like to put their own spin or changes so they can make it more "Italian"/"French"/"Spanish" etc. Sorry, but I'm going to have to respectfully disagree and call out what I'm seeing. Staying silent is not an option when gay boys and men are being pushed into the shadows because our lives and rights are deemed no longer worthy of attention or defense. The deletion of the gay male character from Skam Austin happened in its very first season when Julie Andem was directly involved (and credited) with the show's creation. It's hard to believe that, in that particular situation, she had no control over the creation of the characters themselves. I can understand dialogue, pacing, directing, etc. were left to local control but the characters, who form the premise of the show, being out of her zone of influence - if not her approval - is much a tougher sell. The Americans definitely took their cues from her, she had an official post in the production, so it's a stretch to try and shift the blame elsewhere on some poor, nameless "locals". As for the other remakes - yes she may not be directly involved but there is some measure of indirect influence or at the very least inspiration. Why would the French showrunner fly out to meet her before he could launch Season 5 if she has no say and no influence? I think the other remakes do take some cues from her, whether directly or indirectly, and her creative decision to erase the gay boy from Skam Austin provided the impetus for Skam Espana and NL to follow suit. If, for instance, she moved forward the gay boy to be the season 1 protagonist in Austin, do you think the Spanish or Dutch showrunners would be emboldened to erase or sideline their gay boys? I had huge respect for Julie, and I still credit her for the creation of Evak, but she lost me as a fan with her creative decision to erase the gay male in Austin, and its fallout on gay male visibility in (at least two) European remakes.

Not really a surprise to people who have been following Axel and Maxence but for the past couple weeks they have been getting a lot of hate from fans and non fans. They were the guests for Gay Pride France today and someone interviewed them.
I had a little chat with Axel before Pride today and he said some things that I think the fandom could hear. The first thing I told him was thank you for coming to the Pride today, the support means a lot to me, and he was really touched and relieved. He started talking a million miles an hour about how even though he doesn’t have a public twitter anymore he has a private one to stalk the fandom and he saw the comments about “cishets guys going to pride”. Some were genuine concern. Some were absolutely vicious. Maxence and he got worried they were making a mistake and they had a talk with the organizers about it, wondering if they should call it off. He said that the fandom doesn’t know everything. That the things they have said about their sexuality in the past could have changed, for all we know, and that it’s their own business. They don’t owe us anything on that topic. I said it was upsetting that so many assumptions about sexuality in general were made and he replied that it was even more frustrating coming from the skam fandom, which, just like pride, is about love, acceptance, inclusion, and the complete lack of judgement. He wished this mindset was applied to the cast too. Also, about the people saying that it was the first time they would even go to pride and they didn’t deserve to be parrains, Maxence said he goes to pride every year, and that he found the people marching so beautiful, it just made him so happy, that he wouldn’t miss it for anything. So yeah. Just. Some food for thoughts.

Sadly, if you want to look for it, it is too easy to find toxic people where nothing will ever be good enough. No matter who get picked as guest for Pride, there is someone out there who would find a reason to be against it. So hopefully both Axel and Maxence didn't get too down about some of the toxicity that are out online.

Disgraceful behaviour, but par the course for these "activities". It's their natural progression after insisting only gay actors can play gay roles, only trans actors can play trans roles, only racially pure actors can play ethnic-minority roles, etc. Their toxicity serves only to alienate much-needed allies outside the LGBT community, whom we desperately need because it's increasingly clear that the same activists are more than happy to cheer on the erasure of gay males in favour of lesbian/bi females or trans characters.

So Skam had a convention yesterday called Everything is love 4 and Axel was asked if there was going to be more Elu in it and he said it was going to focus more on Arthur and the group. He also said there going to have talks on season 6 tomorrow and hopefully that they would be more involved in it. So I'm guessing there going to shoot 5 and 6 together.

There would probably be more Elu as like some interaction and being together in the background. While having the season swing back to the boys would likely mean more Elu appearance, I don't see them putting any particular focus on them. The main character is Arthur, and should definitely focus on him mostly.

Season 4's ratings dropped off a cliff because they were less present than Evak had been in OG Skam season 4. Of course that engendered complaints from Sana fans that she was not the full focus of her season, so maybe that's why Elu were scaled back considerably in the French season 4. They really needed to do an Elliott-centric season; I hope it's coming down the pipe. (I was actually surprised it wasn't him, or even Yann, but Arthur who was selected as season 5's principal protagonist.) Anyway, I like Robin Migne and can't wait to see his season. January can't come soon enough.

Season 5 will deal with "impotence in the face of adult toxicity and invisible disability"

Season 5 will deal with "impotence in the face of adult toxicity and invisible disability" This sounds very topical and interesting. Cannot wait until next month. I hope they throw Elu fans a bone, I think they will need to in order to regain the viewers they lost over season 4.

Looks like Skam France will be ending with 6 seasons. They just finished wrapping up season 6 and most of the cast is on instagram saying how they are going to miss playing their characters and how much they love the show.

I think it is good they are ending it after the 6th season. Forcing a show that is shown in real-time to go too long isn't good. Eventually, the two squads would need to graduate, so unless you keep everyone in the same university, going to be hard keeping this going long-term

I wonder if they will give Lucas and Elliot some relationship trouble with them no longer being in school together. It is common to have a hard time for couples to adjust when one is in university and one is still in high school. I can easily see them fighting and breaking up in the background of Arthur's storyline and having a reunion in S6 (which they already filmed, so the writers know they won't left their breakup dangling)

And Victor Meutelet too. I liked him a lot when he played one of the gay boys being hunted down in Les Innocents
