Well some good news here, David (the director) of Skam France went to Norway to negotiate at least 2 more seasons a week ago. The same day Julie Andem ( Skam show creator) and David followed each other on insta seems like it’s a good sign.

It will be a first for one of the remakes to exceed the original 4 seasons, and also it would mean entirely original material for seasons 5 and 6. I assume this means France season 4 won't end with little vignettes of everyone else's lives like Norway did. I wonder who the central characters of seasons 5 and 6 will be. I'm keeping my fingers crossed there will be an Elliott-centric season (to make up for the absolute garbage going on in all the other remakes) but then again, I wouldn't blame them if they feel his story has been told concurrently with Lucas's. They did such an EXCELLENT job with the Lucas season, it is a tough act to follow - and obviously none of the other remakes are even trying!

I think there is a very good shot that Elliott will be a main character. He is the most popular person on the show and they want rating, plus David is a huge fan of Lucas and Elliott's characters. I think that Daphné will be the other main character if they stop at 6 seasons.

I think that Daphné will be the other main character if they stop at 6 seasons. Season 4 seems to be following Norway's schematic in exploring Elliott's backstory (his friendship with Imane's brother and his gang). I thought it was a mistake at the time because Even/Elliott is quite capable of carrying his own season between his backstory and his illness. But if that is already covered by France S4 too, I think there will be very little material left to explore in an Elliott-centric season 5 or 6. I am inclined to think they will give a season to Alexia the bi girl (in keeping with Skam Austin and Espana; especially since he went to Julie Andem) and another to one of Lucas's gang. Most likely Basil, since that will also involve Daphne. They cannot be so biased to give 5 seasons to girls.

In the original Julie wanted 9 seasons with these characters next in line Vilde, Chris, Even, Jonas and end with Magnus.

I really hope they give a season to Arthur. I find him quite different from the OG, so it would be interesting to explore the many tib bits of his backstory he threw out in his conversations with the boys.

I couldn't agree more, even though he's not gay. That bit about having an affair with an older woman sounded suspicious though - more like he was trying to impress his pals. Plus, he's really very cute.

That would be interesting he felt more like a decoration, He was just there to be there. Im not sure if they would give him a season over other characters.

Maybe. But I certainly think he has more unresolved plot devices than Basile or Yann. While I would love an Elliot season, I think that if they continue with the general OG Sana season, there isn't enough of Elliot's life that is unexplored compared to other characters.

The current season is too slow to sustain my interest.
I think Arthur is an interesting character and more than able to anchor his own season. Since we know the least about him, there would be more material to explore. It would also be topical to see a teenage boy in a relationship with an older woman. Isn't this how the French President wound up with his wife? (That case was really skeevy though, he was younger - just above the age of consent - and she was his teacher!)

Obviously, there are much more choices if you include the girl squad too. But considering there are already 3-1 seasons of girls to boys, I would hope they switch back to the boys after the current season

I was watching a cast event from last week, of course it's only a small subset of fans who can attend these events but it seemed Arthur/Robin is very popular. I'm thinking that, if/when a new season is confirmed, they would be smart to make him the main character. Imane and Sofiane also seemed super popular so he might also be under consideration as a future protagonist.
Also, I've been skimming season 4 and it feels like they've cut back on the Elu content, so maybe they are saving some stuff (like Lucas's father's homophobia) for a future Elliot-centric season. (Maxence attended the cast event I mentioned above but didn't speak, Axel couldn't make it and somebody said he was on tour.)

The ratings are down almost 50% from season 3 on their youtube channel. I'm guessing once people knew Elu wasn't going to be a big part in it some stopped watching.

Well Elu are finally back, at the party. I'm happy to see there was no fighting with Imane's brother in this one like in the original.

After the low ratings of season 4, I'm not sure there will be another season, even though there were rumours that the French showrunner had gotten consent for at least two more seasons. Season 3 was massively popular because Skam France surpassed the original show in their portrayal of a gay romance (the only one of the remakes to do so - but then it wasn't exactly a crowded field since half the remakes chose to sideline or outright the gay boy). The closing sequence of each season finale usually establishes who will be the lead next season, I didn't get that here. And in any case, I doubt Julie Andem will have signed off on another season that's focused on the boys, given that she erased the gay boy from her own remake for the USA.

Yes! Hopefully, that means more Lucas and Elliott than one or two scenes. It is better for the show to switch more between the boys and the girls so characters don't feel left out. Otherwise, they should just do what Espana did and just keep it focused on just the girl squad (not saying I support that. Just that it would be better for the story flow to do so)

I'm really happy Arthur will be the focus of season 5 but I don't think Julie Andem was the one who came up with the idea; more likely she just agreed to what the French showrunner proposed. Since original Skam ended, she has not shown any inclination to showcase male central protagonists; the one remake which she is helming (Skam Austin) totally deleted the gay character and assuming it follows the trajectory of original Skam, girls will be the focus of every season 1-4.
