It seems to be getting worse, not better, IMO.

They end Noah and Luke, to make you fall in love with Luke and Reid [It kind of reminded me of Brian and Justin from Queer as folk, hard ass guy who wont admit to anything and doesn't believe in relationships but falls in love, My favorite <3] then they kill him. k... All I have to say is I officially hate this show now.. Goodbye.

"The show's not killing him because they want to kill him, or because they don't like this character," stresses Hansis. "I think that if this show hadn't gone off the air, Reid would not have been killed. They're really making Reid a hero...."
I love this comment from Van. Doesn't make much sense, since they did kill him because they wanted too, otherwise they wouldn't have.
I understand where Van is coming from though. He's trying to walk a fine line between both camps.

SOW:
No. 1: Why didn't Luke and Reid have sex? "Luke talks about that with Noah," reveals Van Hansis. "It's not so much that it's glossed over -- the fact that they never slept together. For whatever reason, it's in Luke's character to wait a whole hell of a long time before he sleeps with somebody!" he laughs. "And he talks with Noah about it and tells Noah that they never slept together, and that is his biggest regret in the relationship."

I find it interesting how the conversation here isn't about Reid's accident/death/sacrifice, or Luke's coping/growth/etc, but rather about Noah. I had an odd thought today. I've read many times that Noah was a plot device, or a pawn, or whatever, in Luke's story. With Reid being sacrificed for Chris, would it be okay to say that Reid's becoming a plot device for Chris' story? Maybe not. Either way, it's a shit ending. I find it amusing how Van was trying to put a positive spin on it; I personally wouldn't bother . And, for what it's worth, I will reserve judgement on Noah's reaction until I see the scenes. Sorry for the metaphor (is that the right word I want to use?) but I want to see the train wreck, no not the one hitting Reid but the writing train wreck. It seems to be getting worse, not better, IMO. LOL, it's like "Gawker Slow-down" * - you know you shouldn't watch it, but you just can't bring yourself to turn away ;D. * That is, slowing down to look at an accident scene as you're driving or walking by, for those who've never heard the phrase.

I find it interesting how the conversation here isn't about Reid's accident/death/sacrifice, or Luke's coping/growth/etc, but rather about Noah. I'm puzzled by it as well given that Noah is a non-factor in the story. I mean, Luke even chose Reid over him and this was after Noah said he wanted him back. I actually thought the show would never let Luke break free of Noah of his own volition. But I'm so glad they did. It just solidifies in my mind that Luke will never go back to Noah again.... even after Reid is gone. He's grown past and grown out of that relationship. I personally hope Luke goes for a long, long time without a man and works on himself, either goes back to school or works for Grimaldi Shipping, whatever makes him happy and fulfills him outside of chasing behind the man of the moment. I actually think that Luke and Noah trying to be friends would be a bad idea. Luke is vulnerable and Noah wants Luke. Noah is not the type to take advantage of Luke, but I just think they'd fall back into old habits and old ways and that's not good for either of them. They both have growing up to do.

Just curious, but why is the part about Noah in bold in the spoiler section? I'm just wondering what the reason is.
About the spoilers though, it sounds like it's going to be a very sad week. I just realized that this is all taking place in one day. Luke breaks it off totally with Noah, tells Reid he loves him and then Reid dies. Poor Luke!

Because of the discussion here with caitlinp. What discussion was that? I caused Noah's name to be in bold, but don't know what I did. LOL. Thus he is petty to actually want time away to deal with his feelings & reflect on how to move past no longer selfishly stalking Luke to declare his feelings. How dare Noah not be there for Luke and push himself past the other 20 or so people supporting Luke to be there at that moment, including Luke's own parents, so that he could selfishly be Luke's sole support system. So, it's more important for Noah to still be moping around because he is upset that Luke doesn't want to be with him, than showing Luke that he can put his own feelings aside in order to let him know that he will be there for him? Noah can still mope and be sad that the relationship is over, but right now that's not the most important thing that's going on. I've been made at people before, but when something major like a death has happened in their family, I put those feelings aside, and put the feelings of the person who was in mourning above my own. It's not like this is a minor or unimportant loss for Luke. Zathras, I'd say that Luke and Reid have become pawns in Chris and Katie's storyline, mainly because tptb stopped telling Luke and Reid's story, and are now just using them to as show pieces for Chris and Katie. It would be different if they were telling both stories at the same time, but for the past few days they have not done that.

In fact it's true, all the last month in Luke-Reid relationship fluctuates around Chris and Katie.
The end of this storyline is crap and we all know, but the development is just awful. I'm not talking about single scenes, because a lot of them are really enjoyable, i'm talking about the story.
Knowing that the show will end in september, the writers had two routes, one is telling a love triangle storyline (and of course Jake couldn't be off screen to do that) or telling Luke and Reid love story. The writers chose not telling anything. They sold that they were telling a love triangle storyline, but that wasn't true, because Noah wasn't there most of the time (wich was terribly disrespectful for an actor who made a lot of good publicity to the show, but that's other story), but they didn't tell LuRe romance either. If they wanted to tell LuRe romance, they will make Noah out of the picture some months ago (he obviously could return for the end of the show), and then focus on Luke and Reid relationship, something that they didn't in any moment (and this is P&G fault, because they don't want to anger those stupid bigots who only watch shows with the hopes of being offended), and we have all that Invicta nonsense and this Chris illness.
Killing Reid will get a big effect on the audience, but it won't be because the writers build a solid relationship between him and Luke, it will be because Eric did a great job, his chemistry with Van is fantastic, and the character resonates to the audience.
They decide to go this route for the emmys (i hope that's the real reason) and there's a good posibility that they will be rewarded, but i hope they receive a what they deserve from the media, because it's not normal that the only ones with a sad ending were the three gay characters.
And i feel pity for Van, it must be really hard to answer that questions and not tell what he really thinks (and we know that it's not what he said). But he is doing what's correct. He is an actor, and he doesn't know where the next opportunity will be, so it's ok not to burn any bridge

It would be different if they were telling both stories at the same time, but for the past few days they have not done that. I didn't say it was more important. I said it was understandable if he didn't rush to Luke's side because he's hurt & unsure, except that because it's Noah, then it's not. And like macari said, seems like Noah is still expected to perform boyfriend duties & rush to Luke's side even though that isn't the case with them. It just seems like another reason to pick at Noah to castigate the character further. And again, it's not like Luke has no one who is there to comfort him when Reid dies. He has his whole family there, specifically his parents. And md1347's comment was in relation to the focused questioning on Noah not immediately rushing to Luke's side.

Hello, new here at the board, and absolutely does not want to say something wrong, but I'd like to express some thoughts concerning this (IMO) shitty ending of the show. I have watched Luke and Noah since the beginning, and I think it's very important to remember that Noah has been one of the most important people in Lukes life for the past three or so years, and it is only natural that he would care when Luke is hurting... I'm not a huge fan of Reid, but I still kind of like him, and I see how he can be a good change for Luke, but what really annoys me is why the show wants Luke to have a relationship with Reid, but they still can't let Noah go. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Noah, and I think he deserves to put all this crap behind him and get a fresh start. But why can't they, when they already broke L&N up, just concentrate on Luke and Reid and their relationship, without always having Noah being a issue. That doesn't really seem like a fair relationship to me, not to Luke, Reid or Noah. I'm sure Luke and Reid could have been great if they had more time, but with Noah still in the picture, their relationship does not seem real or believable to me. That's my opinion anyway. Soo.. all that being said, I'd prefer Luke and Noah together, but whatever... guess I just needed some kind of closure (and sorry if this doesn't make any sense at all, and if I upset someone - just wanted to share some obsessing thoughts)

It's true that Reid and Luke are supporting characters in this drama (though the the story seems to focus on them next week, according to the previews and the spoilers), but I don't think they stopped telling their story. This week, Luke made his choice decisively and told Reid he loved him. That's no small thing. True, then they caught up in the heart drama, but let's face it, the next step would be sex and since the show is decidedly avoiding that, they have to find something to occupy them.

Killing Reid will get a big effect on the audience, but it won't be because the writers build a solid relationship between him and Luke, it will be because Eric did a great job, his chemistry with Van is fantastic, and the character resonates to the audience. I so completely agree with this. And if it were any other show, it wouldn’t make sense, considering the hype when it all started. But ATWT was unfortunately true to form. The premise was there, but then the storytelling went another way, even before these last episodes. Every time I read “Luke/Reid romance”, I wonder who cared to fully show it, because it wasn’t ATWT IMO. I feel like I’m now more than ever supposed to believe it was shown all along, but I’m coming short of essentially the “I love you”s thrown in in the final week. It’s making the events of this week and the whole fast tragic ending so hollow to me, seeing as they wasted precious time on unnecessary outside stuff. It became too quickly a means to an end, and as a result, a lot of things in the big picture just haven’t rung true to me. To think CG and JP are probably patting themselves in the back as we speak… They were just really lucky with these actors IMO. I don't know about everyone being able to get closure, but I think almost everyone might agree with you on the principle that ATWT didn’t exactly write a masterpiece these past several weeks though. And welcome.

To think CG and JP are probably patting themselves in the back as we speak… They were just really lucky with these actors IMO. Since Luke is wearing the same shirt since the 1st, when Noah was on, I guess it's been one great big long day, so far.. so they professed their love to each other on the same day of Reid's accident. The kiss was better than most but their bodies were so far apart and still no hug. Well, lets not get into that. No big secret that I think it's all been one big c-block. Reid was brought on to break up Nuke permanently and when the show was canceled, IMHO, they just used Reid as a way not to give a good ending to any of the gay characters. Looks like Luke is still wearing the same green shirt on Wednesday with Noah but that looks like it's the next day and Luke just hadn't changed yet. Finally, Reid realized that he could open up his heart to Luke after seeing Katie's scene with Chris, which wasn't overly great, IMO, and then coming out of the room and seeing the couples together. It's one of the few times that Reid did seem human but then again, it's too late now.

He made me fall in love with a character which I didn't particularly like in the beginning. He is the only reason that I even bothered to catch a few of the remaining episodes. I just feel cheated that they would kill off one of their best characters and now we have to see more of bland, boring Chris. Definitely not worth it. I really hope that the writers don't instantly put Luke and Noah back together. It just doesn't feel right anymore.
