YAY! Thanks Ivan, Nanna and Tihkon2. Also, can someone recap today's episode cause I am going to be delayed in watching it and GayTime, as you saw on the blog announcement, is in hell and will be delayed posting as well. and in an O/T comment, ATWT is so going to suck today but hopefully it will be better than the shit that aired on June 3rd's episode. Ugh! ==== Let's also try not to have what happened in the 2008.30.05 thread happen again. Let's everyone be respectful. Thanks!

Bonobochick, just for you in this thread again maybe it helps for those who cant speak german Okay, there we go... Christian had a fight with Axel, again. Olli was cheerleading <3 Seemed as if he was in a good mood cause I think he was better than him. (I seriously have got no idea how boxing works) Wolle came to him, telling him how good he was, if he continues to practice he´ll be able to do the fight in august. Of course he thought it was all because of the doping. He asked Christian if he needed more stuff, and he said yes. Olli obviously didn´t like it and wanted to know why Christian lies to Wolle about the doping. Christian thinks Wolle wouldn´t let him fight against other good boxers if he knew that he doesn´t take his "medicine". Oh my god, I´m so confused because the ending was so lovely...I hope I´ve got everything right in my head. Aaah okay, Christian and Olli are on they way home when Wolle stopped Christian, giving him new medicine. He tells him there´s no way to spend that much time with Olli because the other people are gossiping about his sexuality. Some bad words about "f*gs" etc. are spoken, Christian keeps smiling, telling Wolle that Olli "is normal" and he would never be friends with f*gs. Some time later Olli and Christian are sitting in no limits. Christian in no good mood. Olli wants to know what his problem is. Mwah...A really nice conversation follows, I don´t even know if I remember all words. Christian makes some kind of love declaration, saying he wants to dance with Olli right there in no limits <3 And he doesnt want to be in the closet. Olli of course understands. He told him again, that in his sport, there´s no way of being gay. Christian smiles "You always know the right things to say.!" Then Olli playes coach, they need to go jogging. Outdoor scene, Olli breathes very loud and very much because he is very slow competed to Christian. Little race follows... O:"Maybe polishing glasses isnt a good way of training my condition!" C:"But you are the best looking and slowest glas-polisher ( ) in Düsseldorf!" Olli smiling O: I love you *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* C: Same goes back to you *cough* But it was...aaaawww... They hug. C: "I´m so happy!" Then Wolle appears, he sees them standing there. And Christian goes like end! <3 I´m not good in summaries today...

I'm not sure why but all the talking about sirtaki made me laugh out loud. And yes, the acoustics of the NoLimits are a source of eternal amazement. Christian wasn't exactly being silent. That was a really cool hug. Too bad about the bad lighting. There is something oddly sweet about them running through the nightly Düsserldorf. Also? Olli playing Christian's little handmaiden at the boxing place? So creepy, so gay and sooooo obvious. No wonder people gossip about them. And for all out English speakers, here a special preview of the dialog (I have a feeling you will love it). Christian: The thing I want best would be to dance the sirtaki ( Greek dance) with you right here in the middle of No Limits. Because you give me the strenght to do all this, courage, pride. You just love me. Olli: One more sentence and I'll start bawling. Christian: Yeah, me too. Because I cannot dance with you. Because instead I pretend that I think gays are gross in front of Wolle. Because I'm betraying you. (me: *snerk*) Later: Olli: I love you. Christian: The same right back at you. *hugs him* I'm simply happy with you.

I thought it was very much in character that Christian couldn't say "I love you, too." His facial expression made it so clear how much he wanted to and how disappointed he was in himself that he couldn't.

Just how annoying is it that there is no proper translation for all this standing stuff? To stand for everything, to stand by your homosexuality etc... I never realized that there is quite that much standing in German

Aw, thanks guys for the recap. I am really looking forward to watching, even with my mediocre German skills. I am now really looking forward to tomorrow's episode. So much drama today with Hollyoaks, ATWT and VL. And of course KILLER VIRUS on AWZ. It's like feast or famine.

Thanks, lola
Yeah, the dialog slowed enough for me to catch that part. I was wondering if Christian was going to say the same back: exactly. He looks a little uncomfortable, then opts for 'the same back at you'.
Then, ruhroh! The disgusting Grandetzki or whatever, lurches out of the shadows and sees all!
My German improves slowly, but still I must rely on our dear Translation Team for all the details.
heh

There was some discussion on the daserste Forum whether Christian said was too cheesy. I actually thought this stuff about pride and courage sounded very, very much like Christian. I felt the part later where Christian calls Olli the most attractive (and slowest!) waiter in Düsseldorft was more unlike him. I think they should have played that one for straight mocking rather than bring about the romantic music. But I guess they needed a lead over for Olli's I love you.
And it amuses me. It's just so them that Olli would say it right in the middle of training, right there on the street while gasping and being exhausted.
That said, ambitious Christian? From the beginning of the episode? Really, really creepy. Kinda reminds me of serialkillerface!Christian from when he was eyeing Rick at the club. I get that he has to pretend to be a driven asshole at the club and the like but yes, he is creepy allright. Wonder if it foreshadowing that Wolle gave Christian more drugs today (because he assumed that Christian has run out).
Also, lets all not also not comment on the soap opera realism of Christian becoming superfighter within a week. ;D

As usual, thanks for the clip. Although as yet again, don't understand a single word they've said, but I thought the last scene with Christian hugging Ollie is so *awwww* It makes you feel all happy again. It's that easy for me, a simple hug says it all.

I just watched it in the German, and, sigh. So great!! I can't wait until the subbed version is available, so I can actually understand what they are saying. I did get "Ich liebe dich" though.

Thanks so much, Ivan, Steffi, Nanna.
It's a satisfying episode, for sure.
Christian is so emotionally volatile: he's way up now that, in this second fight with Axel, he's realized, indeed he can achieve his dream without the drugs. Yes, astonishing progress--Olli's training program leaves doping in the dust!
And/but what's standing in the way of perfect happiness (in the moment) is the need to maintain a charade of homophobia, to be constrained from acknowledging the love he now feels so strongly for Olli . . . love that's re-inforced by gratitude.
So it seems to me all of this is very well done--not cheesy at all. It's a reflection of big swells of conflicting emotion.
As for his ferocious leers in the ring, not sure how I feel about. That 'space' and the accoutrements (mouthguard especially) do seem to bring out in him a sort of Hydish persona.
And, yes, Olli's personal 'attendance' to him does seem a bit excessive, but maybe it's not that unusual. Do 'star' boxers have those sorts of 'seconds'? --- "handmaids" as Nanna puts it!!!
Will Christian 'deny' Olli again? . . . I hope not three times!
B-chick: I shall temper my debating zeal. And that's all it was--certainly no disrespect intended.

The "handmaid" credits should go to Lola.
I think Christian was just a bit hyped up after the fight. I guess, you have to be like that in order to be good in competitive sports. After translating so many boxing episode I now know more about boxing that I ever wanted to and it seems you need someone who looks after you. I guess you can't very well take off the gloves without assistance. They give new meaning to the term "ham-fisted".

Yes, thanks, Nanna -- and I can't stop grinning, Lola! -- 'maid' certainly seems to be Wolle's take on it!-- but then Herr G sees effeminacy everywhere--except in his own mirror (where it should be obvious!)

Not only does No Limits apparently have acoustical dead zones, but some of them apparently generate invisibility fields as well. I mean Christian actually stood up while he was going and still didn't draw much attention!
I actually don't think his improvement in the ring should be so shocking. He is good in the first place, but the last time he may not have been fully prepared or had his mind in the right place. Knowing what to expect helps sharpen his focus. Plus he was even more motivated to do well in front of Olli.
Their interaction in No Limits and while jogging looks beautiful. Thore and Jo really are managing to do an incredible job conveying the emotions of two men in love. But also, I really love the playfulness between them. I think it's a big part of Olli's appeal for Christian, that and the way Olli knows what to say and do to motivate Christian and help him overcome his insecurities.
Poor Christian though. He believes in loyalty to a fault, but feels that he cannot be loyal to Olli because of the culture of boxing. Even though Olli is understanding it clearly hurts Christian deeply to not be able to show off his love openly. They really are keeping with the name of the show on this one aren't they?

As for the competitive thing, you really do need to get in to that "destroy" mindset for boxing or other other activities like that. I remember seeing some hideous faces after taekwondo matches and I am sure mine weren't all that pretty either. B-chick: I shall temper my debating zeal. And that's all it was--certainly no disrespect intended. Oh I know, it's just that sometimes when people really like something, they embrace it with their emotions on high and opinions can run away from them and it ends up causing reception issues with others. That was my concern. And it was a gentle reminder to everyone as my whip has been put away for right now. Now you're wondering if I mean literally or figuratively, eh? As long as people can realize that sometimes that they may need to temper their emotions at times when they feel very strongly about something, then it's all good. I don't want to discourage debate, I just make sure that what is being debated is not strictly based on emotion and opinion but also on facts. Cause people may never agree on emotions but facts are not nearly as refutable.

Yepp, they sure are. I just rewatched it again and it amuses me that they kept with the theme of Christian being so much better than Olli. They showed Olli running ahead and then Christian drawing past him. So much fun

And it was a gentle reminder to everyone as my whip has been put away for right now. Now you're wondering if I mean literally or figuratively, eh? Whoooooooooo! Die Dame mit der Peitsche! Now I'm wondering if I would like that--if subconsciously I wasn't looking to provoke you!

*Sigh* Such a sweet episode! Thank-you IvanIV, Nanna, and Tihkon2 for brightening everyone's day!!! I just noticed how strongly Wolle gawking at the guys hugging reminds me of Randy Quaid's character, Aguirre, from Brokeback Mountain! Kind of an archetypal image for queer love stories, I suppose--the secret love inevitably discovered by the forces of darkness!

Thanks for for the video and screencaps (Constantine!) Ivan. And thanks Steffi and Lola for the recaps and bits of dialogue. At the moment I'm a pile of romantic goo and can't think clearly enough to analyze anything.

OMG - I so understood that bit too ;D Don't know whether my excitement was because he'd said it or because I actually understood he'd said it, without subs So agree with Nanna - it is right in Christian's character that he couldn't say it back but his face spoke a thousand words. Loved today's epi - man, the way they interact together, it's just visual poetry .
