I didn't know Ana Ortiz was on the show! I used to love her during the Ugly Betty days

It's starting to look like Victor will be in the closet until the end of season 1.
I hope they let Benji have another love interest.

Expected as much that he would stay in the closet til the end of the season at least. I hope he doesn't string along that girl Mia for the entire season at least, but that sounds to be the case from the synopsis. I am glad that Simon will show up, it will help link the show to the movie and it would be stupid not to use the actor when he is the executive producer already

It's rather sad that Victor will spend the entire season without gay romance (unless he's going to cheat on his girlfriend).
And if there is a second season next year, they'll be extremely limited in terms of romance with all the coronavirus precautions on set.
Hulu are going to drop the trailer tomorrow.

Trailer:
There's a gay kiss ... just not with Victor.

I'm sure an eventual Victor kiss would be a big moment on the show (like it was in the movie), so I was not really expecting them to "spoil" that on the trailer. What really surprised me was them not having Simon on the trailer (we did get a glimpse of Blue though!) The show looks cute. It has a pretty similar tone to the movie (excepted), but it looks like Victor explores more of his own dilemmas and family dynamics here, which was not really explored in the movie.

I guess somewhere along the way Simon decided to ditch Los Angeles for New York?

Happy to see Blue in the trailer, wasn't sure that was going to happen.

I don't know maybe i wake up a little skeptical today but this looks like an after school special of the 90's but instead of an episode is a whole show. I wouldn't be surprised if at the end Victor discovers he is straight but hey it's ok because they show has gay characters.
The trailer is cute anyway

I had no idea Blue was appearing. Hopefully Simon and Blue are still together

I am glad that Simon will show up, it will help link the show to the movie and it would be stupid not to use the actor when he is the executive producer already Judging by some of her little scenes on the the trailer, it looks like Mia will have a love interest of her own (played by Mason Gooding)

I don't know maybe i wake up a little skeptical today but this looks like an after school special of the 90's but instead of an episode is a whole show. I wouldn't be surprised if at the end Victor discovers he is straight but hey it's ok because they show has gay characters. The trailer is cute anyway I agree about the afterschool-special feel of the whole trailer, which really raises the question of WHY Disney felt they had to move this to Hulu. It's very clearly been created, and neutered, for a Disney+ audience. The only "contentious" elements I could see in the trailer were one fairly chaste gay kiss (had the kissers had been a heterosexual couple, I'm sure the kissing intensity would have been deemed perfectly family-friendly; it's not like they were using tongue) and the appearance of a drag queen in what's (presumably) a gay club. I don't know if the latter was the deal-breaker. Going by the trailer and episode descriptions, I don't see any "sexual exploration" going on, and the only alcohol use in the trailer seems to be a cautionary tale of bullies drawing on your face if you pass out drunk. Both those issues were explored, and in much greater depth, years ago by Degrassi, which did air in the US for an audience of the same age range. I can't see them declaring Victor to be straight at the end - that would create an enormous backlash about queer-baiting. However, it's possible they will go with bi or pansexual. There needs to be some pay-off for Victor and Benji's will-they/won't-they drama all season long.

The official trailer has reached over 10 million views on its first week out... that's really awesome! Response has been great so far, hopefully it becomes a hit for Hulu! (and we get a 2nd season!)
