I actually would look forward to this story, if they fully explored the issues and not just had one of those old sagas about the gay man who clings to his best female friend and heartbreak follows when he realizes he can only be with men, and what a burden to her, oh the agony, etc. Corrie's never going to give him a story with a man, and the actors do have nice chemistry. And people can always say Sean turned a gay man, which would crack me up for years.

They have a nice, sweet, basic chemistry (you could see it in Monday's episode when he was comforting her during her biopsy). If the show writes for that and doesn't turn this into another big scandal which will end in endless cheating, then they'd probably make a good long-term couple. I'm not sure if Corrie knows how to do this now.

I'm not sure why they needed to say that again about Marcus and Sean splitting, but I don't mind reading it again. Sean is a gnat, and was there again in tonight's episodes, hovering around Aidan, faking politeness, then bitching as soon as Aidan was gone. I dread the tirades he's going on about Marcus and Maria.
Aidan doesn't do a lot for me (they give him awful hair and eye makeup) but I felt so sorry for him in that last episode. He immediately knew something was off. I wouldn't mind seeing him stay.
I heard people saying the Maria/Marcus kiss was awkward - well, it was supposed to be, presumably, especially since the show isn't pulling one of those "he was bisexual all along" stories. The whole suddenness of the whole thing, and how flustered and irritable they were at the party afterward, was very believable.
I just hope the show doesn't screw this up.

This show has lost its mind and Charlie should have said "Hell to the No!" to this storyline. I know he wanted to have his own storylines but this is just ridiculous All the conversion therapists will certainly LOVE this storyline.

I know he wanted to have his own storylines but this is just ridiculous All the conversion therapists will certainly LOVE this storyline. Since the story will probably end with Marcus deciding he can't stay with a woman, I don't know if there will be anything to love. It's been relatively believably paced and makes sense for the characters. Soaps have done so many stories about straight men who magically become gay, it's difficult to be outraged over this.

Well, I can't predict the future so I have no idea how the storyline will end. People coming out of the closet is not the same as a gay man suddenly deciding he's in love with his best girl friend. There are societal reasons why people are closeted and it makes sense that a man or woman might repress their feelings of attraction to people of the same sex because they don't want to have to face the homophobia, rejection and discrimination that comes with being gay. That is not an uncommon experience and lots of lesbians and gay men have dated men or women previous to coming out because they didn't want to admit that they were gay.
That isn't the same as Marcus who is like 30 something all of a sudden discovering his lust for Maria.
Sexual orienation is about sexual desire, not just caring about someone.
Marcus can realize he loves Maria as a friend or even as family without wanting to have sex with her.
It just doesn't make sense to me and no amount of twisting and turning it on the part of the writers is going to make it make sense.
It just plays into the fantasy that gay men and their best girl friends should be romantically involved. Or worse, it plays into this fantasy that if you just love someone enough, eventually they'll love you back and bodies and sexual orientation don't matter.
If I all of a sudden had the desire to sleep with a male friend I would DEFINITELY question my sexual orientation and the fact that we are told that Marcus is still gay, no biggie, just happens to want to get into Maria's pants but he's still totes gay, make no sense to me.
No one only falls in love with a person's insides. Bodies and body parts and physicality do matter. It's chemical. Lust, sexual desire is chemical.

All soaps play into a fantasy. Some soaps say that men who have loved women, sexually and emotionally, for 20, 30 years, suddenly fall in love with a man. If anything I think this story so far is more balanced in that they haven't gone too far into "It's this special woman who turns him," as happened in reverse with Chrolli, with a straight man who was gay for someone overnight and continues to be gay only for that person. They've said it's mostly about friendship or about Marcus wanting to be a father. He did suddenly develop sexual attraction to Maria, which was poorly paced, but the rest has made sense to me.
