Well, all that is left is for Marcus to fall and hit his head and forget that he was ever gay to begin with.
And they'll live happily ever after and all the ladies who love Corrie and think Marcus and Maria are such a lovely couple can ignore all that pesky "gay" stuff too.

I think that this type of story might suggest just the opposite. Her being pregnant this quickly makes it more likely that this will be a relationship which does have some genuine feeling, but mostly pressure, because now Marcus will have what he's wanted - a family, a child - under very rushed circumstances. That probably means stress, stress, tears, and ultimately, unhappiness. No one on a soap is happy, and Maria is at the top of the list (this is the woman who fell in love with the man she suspected ran her husband over). As always Corrie has rushed pacing. It's too bad. The sad thing is I would take a happy couple in a gay man/straight woman combo over most of the gay stories on soaps today, especially the absolute hideousness of ITV's other soap, Emmerdale. |

As soon as I saw that this was Daily Mirror, I had a doubt, and it turns out that may be true.
Charlie Condou tweeted that this was the first he'd heard of the story. Sue Marshall, who does the soap reports, denied the story.
Hopefully it was a lie, as I do think there's a lot of story potential for Marcus/Maria which would NOT be used if they do a damn baby story this quickly.

That sounds horrible. I don't know why Corrie has been so violent in recent years.

Not a whole lot of gay going on with Marcus and Maria.
Unless the character comes out as bisexual, seems like Marcus isn't really involved in a gay storyline.
It's weird.
It would make more sense if they would at least have Marcus articulate the possibility that he is bisexual.
If he has sexual desire for a woman and previously did for men as well, just seems logical and would make things more clear for viewers and the storyline wouldn't seem so far fetched.
Having an emotional attachment to Maria is one thing. Wanting to have sex with her is something else.

Yeah...Coronation Street has a huge Canadian viewer ship and Charlie Condu had done a recent tour.
I don't know what's next for Marcus and Maria, AFTER they find out she's pregnant, because really, that's one of the reason why they were paired up. Marcus, wants to be a father, to a child that is biologically his and his pairing with Sean, just wasn't going to be forever after.
Sean and him, may have loved each other, but (IMO), they never really liked each other. Which is the complete opposite of Marcus and Maria. They truly do like each other, but confused it with being in love with each other.
She'll probably meet, somebody new to the Street and she'll feel guilty, due to her thinking that Marcus would be the one to find and fall for another man, when it'll be her, cheating on him.
