Currently in the middle of season 6 (although I've missed some earlier eps along the way).
I have to say I'm not thrilled about the sudden character revision, in which the writers suddenly decide that Frank is a good father, despite his flaws. Not only is it inconsistent with what was shown in early seasons, I think it unbalances some of the other character arcs. Monica was a terrible mother, and deserves any scorn her kids heap on her, but she didn't deserve to be contrasted against Frank as "the good parent." Sometimes being gone can be better than being around for some parents, and I think it's probably a toss-up whether Monica's absence was worse than Frank's presence.
Also, there was plenty of violence between Frank and the older kids, so the "we've never laid a hand on ickle Liam" bit doesn't really ring true.
I also think it was a bit crap the way Carrie and Tom went out. Tom, stabbed in the back by both of his partners so they could get a leg up? And that part of the story not even particularly covered by the ending? Carrie turning into a class-A bitch abruptly in a single episode for the sake of a send-off? Yeah, she was always extremely tightly wound, but I never saw any indication she was capable of betraying her partner that way.
Ah, well, at least the characters who stayed on the show are still being handled well. Although I'm a little confused by what the heck they're doing with Ian. The season premiere specifically set Ian on a path to re-evaluating his life and aggressively setting himself new goals. So he bums around Europe a while? Fair enough, he'd earned the break. But then just wanders into basically an extended babysitting gig, with no discernable thought for the future? For a guy seriously re-evaluating his life, he seems to be wandering aimlessly a bit. Hopefully this is going somewhere I'm just not seeing.
During those middle seasons when she was written as heir to the Maguire business, Mandy became a favorite character for me, and this storyline is breaking my wee heart, especially since I'm already spoiled for the season finale, even though I haven't seen it yet.

Okay, since no one else seems to be doing it, I started a more comprehensive clip collection for the show. It's including all the major Ian stries, and will expand to Mickey when I get to those episodes. So far, I've done season one. Shameless is a fairly NSFW series all around, so play at your own risk. The second clip in particular includes full frontal, briefly. The first clip contains full backal. The playlist, if you want it: www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=A8CAC7CDEEE8D16EAnd the same, at dailymotion: www.dailymotion.com/playlists/ShamelessGayStoryMore up soon!

davedoty, thanks so much for uploading it! I offered to do it, but I already have three storylines on my channel. It's better if you do this. I start uni in a few days too. So I have to focus on that. I really appreciate the effort you put into this. I know it's a lot of hard work, especially when you're behind and have to catch up, like with Shameless. I've been working for days to catch up with Mas Sabe el Diablo too. Anyways, to make a long story short.. Thanks for uploading these! I will subscribe, cause I love Shameless, the whole series is great too. Not just the Ian/Mickey scenes

Thanks. I'm at least partially lucky that the seasons are so short, and not every ep needs to be included. And I discovered there's some great editing equipment out there. I was afraid I'd have to make a bunch of little 1-2 minute clips and splice them back together.
I am a little sad that people will miss out on the great straight storylines, but I'm partially doing this in hopes of luring Youtubers into the ongoing series.

Yeah, I use WMM, and it's works fine, even though it kinda freezes up on me sometimes. lol I don't see it as luring them. You are just giving them a preview so they can discover this series too

The Christmas Special! In what may be the most awesome Christmas story EVAH, Lip and Kev steal a load of meat off a truck, but it turns out that was a government truck, and the meat was part of a biological warfare experiment. The military rolls in and declares martial law, and Ian lies around dying and sad, unable to go to the hospital without being shot dead.
Merry Christmas!
If only I'd started a few days earlier, I could have gotten to the New Year's Special in time to post it today. Sigh.

Okay, I'm producing these videos so fast, I'm now over 40 clips behind in my embedding, which is just silly. So here's what I'm going to do: I'm going to stop embedding these fast-generated catch-up clips. You can use the links provided above to watch those. Once we get to the new season 7 clips in a few weeks, I'll start posting embedded versions of those, since they should show up at a more reasonable rate.

Here's a synopsis from C4 for the next series.
Frank finds a new love this series with the arrival of local Librarian Libby, played by Shameless newcomer Pauline McLynn (previously seen in Father Ted, Jam & Jerusalem). Libby's passion for romantic literature wakes in Frank something that has been dormant for so long... and then he meets her mum Patty who might just put a spanner in the works. Eight months on from the tragic loss of Mandy, the Maguire family are preparing to welcome a new addition to the clan, a baby son for Karen and Jamie. And baby Connor's arrival doesn't mean Joe Pritchard will loosen his hold on Karen, who soon discovers that motherhood brings on some unwanted Jackson family traits. The Jockey's got a new landlady - Mimi Maguire - so Patrick has to come to terms with their separate living arrangements. While Kelly takes her new godparent duties to the extreme, boyfriend Shane gets involved with wedding scams - and then thinks about a wedding of his own. Mickey and Ian now share a bungalow together, as the perfect odd couple. While over at the Gallagher's, Liam hits senior school and develops his first crush. Meanwhile - Carl and Maxine get adventurous in the bedroom - welcome back to the wonderful world of Shameless!

Thoughts about the season 7 announcements (yellowed for spoilers):
I like the idea of Ian and Mickey as roommates, more than as a couple actually. While I think they should wind up together in the end, for now a Mickey mature enough to be in a relationship would, IMHO, undermine what's so great about the character. Odd-couple roommate shenanigans with a hint of UST sounds about perfect.
My big fear for Ian is that he's going to wind up being the new Fiona. It's been announced that this is Debbie's final season, although I'm not sure if that means she leaves at the beginning, the end, or somewhere in between.
Even though I liked Fiona, she was a little TOO good at taking care of the family, to the point that the rest of the cast only flourished when Fiona left and they were left to their own devices. Debbie worked because she was so young she clearly wasn't ready for the responsibility, which created conflict of its own.
But Ian is old enough and mature enough to become de facto household, and if he does so, I'm afraid the other characters will suffer in his shadow, and I'll have to choose between liking Ian and wanting what's best for the show.
Even at his worst, Frank's always had a surprising intellectual streak, often quoting lengthy and relatively obscure passages from Shakespeare. So the librarian love interest could be interesting.
R.I.P., Mandy. Hopefully your creepy fiance will join you in the afterlife before too long.

I've just really starting watching Ian's storyline from the begining. I have a question for people who know the show. Who do you enjoy Ian more with, Kash or Mickey?

It's hard for me to answer this without talking about how the relationship with Kash ended, and I don't want to spoil that. I'll just say Mickey and leave it at that.
But Ian dated Kash for at least two years, while with Mickey, they hooked up once and have just been friends since, despite Mickey chasing after him. So they're really very different beasts.

Mickey for sure. Kash upset me quite a bit. Sometimes I think Mickey might be completely out of his mind, but, he turns out to be quite endearing I think....and he's hilarious and always there for Ian if he needs help with anything. I like them as friends, but, would like to see it as more. Kash on the other hand. Well, just keep watching, you'll see. Kash is the type of person who only looks out for Number 1.

Saw the first episode. They know who the hottest guy in the cast is, don't they?
Yeah, that bit in the opening credits was yum.
Kind of sad Joe's back, despite his attractiveness and the fact that he's a decent actor. At least they're continuing to paint him as an asshat of the first order. It would be worse if they suddenly made him decent.
And Frank's always had a literary streak, so this new love interest should be perfect for him.
Sadly, not much gay in this ep, but next time looks to be better.

It looks like Elliott has been spending some time in the weight room. I hope the next episode has more Mickey and Ian.
