Here’s August 25th.
Lots of law terms again. I hope I got them all right.
Iris: To you!
Carsten: To you!
Alexander: So, let’s celebrate!
Lenny: It’s good that I apologised to Becker back then. If you hadn’t given me a kick in the ass...
Carsten: Always with pleasure.
Lucy: Man, painting his kiosk really paid off then.
Iris: It sure did. I mean that Becker agreed on the victim-offender mediation was crucial for the review of custody.
Carsten: Maybe we can go to Barcelona earlier then.
Alexander: Well, it will take quite some time until you’re allowed to take a trip.
Lenny: Whatever. I don’t care. Main thing is that I can leave jail and stay with you.
Lucy: So again, to you!
Iris: To the reduction of your sentence!
Lenny: To freedom!
Lenny: You only understand what freedom means when you don’t have it anymore.
Carsten: Like eating fries in the middle of the night.
Lenny: Exactly. That’s freedom.
Lucy: And it’s a pretty wicked idea!
Iris: Well, we used to do that quite often back then.
Alexander: Back then you only wanted to eat fries. To make you eat vegetables at least sometimes, we really had to come up with good ideas.
Lucy: Yes, I remember that. You tried to sell off carrots as friends of the fries to us. And it didn’t work at all. (I’m not sure about the "carrots as friends"-phrase, because as usual she’s annoyingly mumbling here. But this is what I got.)
Lenny: Well, after all the jail grub I’d do anything for Mama’s vegetable casserole.
Carsten: Soon you’ll be able to eat whatever you want again.
Lenny: I hope it won’t take the judge too long to decide when I can leave prison.
Alexander: First he has to decide whether he thinks a reduction is justified.
Lenny: What? It’s not sure yet if I can leave earlier?
Iris: But Gerner is very convinced that the sentence will be reduced.
Lenny: Great! Gerner was also very convinced that I would come away with parole.
Alexander: Yeah, back then he didn’t know all the facts. Now he does.
Carsten: Don’t worry. What would happen when the reduction is granted?
Alexander: Well, the judge won’t change the prison sentence to parole just so. You have to expect conditions.
Iris: That means you can leave prison, but you have to work off the rest of your prison sentence in a social project.
Lenny: That means I have to find a place in one of those social projects first.
Alexander: Exactly.
Lucy: But mother looked for one them for you some time ago.
Lenny: Yeah and it didn’t work out some time ago.
Iris: That was something different. It was for minors, but you were too old for it.
Lenny: And there are plenty for grown-ups, or what?
Carsten: So, when working in one of those social projects is a condition, does Lenny have to stay in jail, as long as we can’t find a place for him?
Iris: Yeah, actually he does, but we don’t know for sure yet.
Lucy: But that’s totally stupid. You either get out or not.
Iris: He does get out, but first we have to meet the requirements.
Alexander: And the judge won’t require anything that cannot be carried out.
Lenny: Sure, they make one call and when they are rejected, it’s over. I’m just a number for them, after all.
Lucy: Hey. We’re going to find one for you.
Carsten: Yeah, doing it ourselves is better, anyway.
Iris: Exactly. I’ll call all the organisations I contacted before. They can help us out for sure.
Alexander: And it’s not that anonymous then.
Iris: Right. I experienced that people are far more cooperative when you talk to them personally.
Lenny: Yeah, until they find out that you beat someone up resulting in hospitalisation.
Alexander: But you’re not the first one who did something like that.
Lenny: Sure. And do you know how many of those guys end up in prison again, because they can’t find work? Nobody gives them a second chance. Why should it be different with me?
Alexander: Hold on. This is not about a job. This is about social rehabilitation.
Lenny: For which I need to have a free place first.
Lucy: And we’re going to find one.
Alexander: With a little bit of inquiring that shouldn’t be a big problem.
Carsten: So, we know what we have to do, tomorrow.
Carsten: What’s going on there?
Lenny: Don’t know.
Carsten: You can’t sleep?
Lenny: No.
Carsten: We’re going to fix this.
Lenny: Actually, I thought I would accept it. Two days with you and then back into prison. I thought I’d get through the remaining time in prison, but now. I don’t know whether I can stand it, if this doesn’t work out.
Carsten: The odds were never better that you might be able to leave earlier.
Lenny: And when I can’t? Hoping that it would end sooner and eventually it doesn’t, is even worse.
Iris: The judge has not yet made a decision, but we thought we’d get informed already so that our chances are better later on. Yes?
Lucy: Look, this is awesome. "Part-time over doing time". At least they have humor. (Literally she says: sweat over jail, but I wanted to keep a pun.
.
Alexander: And they are in Berlin.
Carsten: Well, this one is in Bavaria, but it also sounds quite interesting. "Our participants visit schools regularly and talk about their experiences with violence". Morning. I didn’t want to wake you up.
Iris: Is it important that he was convicted for grievous bodily harm?
Alexander: Do you like some coffee? We bought some tasty stuff too.
Lucy: Yes, you have the painful choice: chocolate or marzipan croissants.
Lenny: No, thank you.
Iris: And it’s not a problem that he is over 18 years old? That’s great. As fast as possible. Got it. That’s very kind. Yes, I can hear you. Yes. Ok. Thank you.
Lucy: So?
Iris: Unfortunately not. They are full until next year, but he gave me the number of another project called "Entrance" and I’ll call there immediately.
Lenny. Hey, hey, hey. Wait a minute. I think it’s really nice that you care for me so much, but can’t we at least have breakfast together first? There are only a few hours left until I have to go back.
Iris: Take care of you, big boy.
Alexander: We’ll see each other very soon.
Lucy: I hope I haven’t screwed up your vacation with my preferring the wrong men.
Lenny: Hey, if anyone can understand why you’d fall in love with Carsten, then that is me. And somewhere out there is a guy walking around waiting just for you.
Lucy: And I only have to search for him, right? Man, I’m going to miss you so much.
Lenny: I’ll miss you too.
Carsten: I would like to never let go off you again.
Lenny: You can come with me. I'm sure they have some free cells left.
Carsten: I’ll get you out of there soon. Promise.
Guard: It’s time now.
Carsten: I’ll get you out of there.
