Pitting Ben against Keanu is really poor optics, especially when the show has completely failed to even acknowledge Danny Walters' homophobic past. But par the course for Kate Oates to go overboard with the returning gay character's villainy - Ben is firmly in Evil Robert Sugden territory now.
Ben is supposed to open up about Paul to Callum 'Halfway' next week and some are speculating he will be Ben's new romance. (Pecs Guy was obviously just a ONS.)
I'm pleasantly surprised that Ben is actually on-board with his mother opening up a gay bar, but am I the only one who finds the name Prince Albert a bit too saucy?

Well, one thing about Ben remains consistent: he gets beaten up by just about everyone. So far since he's returned, he's been hit by Keanu and Callum.
I'm really disappointed in the show's decision to include Danny Walters in the Pride episode.

What's the problem with Danny Walters being part of the Pride episode? I really don't know much about him or his character.
The thing about Ben being beaten up there are so many options on who the culprits are and who comes to help him out. I doubt it's some thugs attacking him because he's gay. I doubt the show going there, especially cause that's how they killed off Paul.
I mean there are already so many people who have reason to give Ben a good trashing. Ben plans to go after Phil, there whatever he got up to while he was away, there is the stuff he's got going now, there is the dodgy cars, whatever he's messing up with Keanu, and of course his rompy pompy with Callum.
I just wonder whose gonna come to Ben's rescue since he's on the ground getting kicked, Phil, Jay, or Callum.

Danny Walters got exposed for tweeting homophobic slurs a few years ago and gave a very weak apology where he tried arguing that he was young and immature when he made those comments (he was 19). But it's arguable whether the slur he used repeatedly as "banter" should ever be in the vocabulary of a young adult who, only 3 years later, was busy presenting himself as a straight ally of the gay community when posing for Gay Times. (As usual, our gay press gets it so very wrong.) I had a feeling something was off about Danny's self-promoted gay-friendliness when he made that remark about finding it awkward if he had to play intimate scenes opposite the previous Ben. No true ally would have made that remark. Danny wasn't the only soap star caught out in the historic tweets scandal, but while ITV admonished and even went so far as to terminate one of its actor's contracts, the BBC has been completely silent on Danny's homophobia and is now helping him once again present gay-friendly credentials by appearing as an enthusiastic participant in its Pride episode. It does the gay community a grave disservice by helping Danny push his inauthentic "ally" narrative to the public. (Of course, plenty of gay people are also leaping to his defense because they find him hot.)

Yeah then I think they put him in there cause he's hot and he's a character with a lot going on right now. So they were like we're gonna show him off, even though he offers nothing to the actual story or plot. And probably PR, to be like look at how much of an ally he is now, part of the scene. Though a small part of me wonders if they put him in there to force him to confront his behavior when it comes to LGBT, since they seem to have plans for more of those stories with having Prince Albert and Ben and Callum.

After reading the new spoiler I'm seriously wondering if Ben hires someone to beat him up. I know that would be very twisted, but it's Ben we're talking about here. The spoiler said he would take desperate measures to get Lola and Lexie to stay...

But wouldn't that push Lola further away because she thinks it's not safe for Lexi and her?
I wonder if Jay knows that Lola still fancy him and wants to try again. At least that seems to be the reason she's having issues sticking around.

Is this still to come or has it already happened? Ben is attacked The #Ballum twist becomes a plot machine over the summer as another scene shows Ben being duffed up by a bunch of nasty blokes. Will Mr Mitchell become the victim of a homophobic beating just like tragic dead partner Paul Coker?

The spoilers seem to be making out that Ben is actively looking to be beaten up, like he's getting some perverse thrill out of it? That's probably too risque for this show (which is still wary of portraying male rape) so it's hardly going to be some BDSM twist. Maybe he is he suffering survivors' guilt (because Paul died and he didn't)? It's a very delayed reaction if that's the case, and I question the decision to play out this storyline: a) during Pride month; and b) concurrently with Ben's nephew Bobby doing the same thing?

Yeah, I definitely think it's connected to the anniversary of Paul's death. Not just that though, but everything is falling apart around him, Phil, Callum etc. He probably feels rubbish, that he doesn't deserve to be happy, which is just sad. I have a feeling Callum will come to his rescue because he cares about him.
