I find it hard to believe that the guys would think that Glenda would make a good surrogate, but it's not like they have a lot of options. At least if this is the big storyline, maybe that means that the baby switch storyline will be resolved very soon.
ETA: On the Walford Forums message board, someone posted that a spoiler in SoapLife magazine says that Roxy makes Christian a tempting offer, and they ask the question is she pregnant.

Glenda Mitchell could spell trouble for them so it would make a juicy story down the road. there will probably be lots of drama with this storyline if she is in it.

I was also thinking about Roxy, doing it for them since her and Christian are Best friends.

Huh. The news that Eastenders will be doing a surrogacy storyline has been popping up in places that don't usually cover the show. I came across several references to this storyline yesterday. Maybe they're onto something.
ETA: I've been reading the thread on Walford Web (thanks for the tip, caitlinp), and one of the moderators also remarks that she has heard reports that the Mirror's article is mistaken, and that Roxy will be the surrogate. She doesn't confirm those reports, merely relays them.

Well, first of all, I don't understand Christian at all. Why on earth would he prefer going out and getting drunk with Roxy, instead of spending a nice evening at home with the man he loves, has fought for and Syed gave up virtually everything for Christian. This is their first New Years together- wouldn't Christian want to ring it in with the man he supposedly loves ? I makes me wonder how much Christian has changed.
Secondly Christian keeps saying he kissed another man, when it looked like the Piper kissed him and Christian pushed him away- that hardly sounds like Christian saying to everyone that HE kissed another man, and now everyone is referring to it as Christian cheating, which to me sounds worse than another man kissing him, when Christian was drunk- it sounds sort of par for the course at a big drunken New Years party.
As for a baby- sounds awfully soon, when they haven't lived together that long. Why not have them get married and have a wedding- it could create all sorts of Drama, between Syed and his family. I'm sure they could think of other stories also, before they start a family, which seems like sort of the death of Gay storylines.

Christen suggesting that they have a baby makes me wonder if everything is going well in the relationship. It's a shame that we haven't seen them have to work at being a couple, especially since the events leading up to them being together were so dysfunctional. In truth, based on everything that they did to one another, it would have made more sense to show them having to work through a lot of issues before they became a happy and settled couple.
I hated that Syed tried to put a guilt trip on Christian, but maybe how they both feel about what happened with Amira and Syed's family is causing strain in their relationship. I hope both of those issues are part of the surrogate storyline.

I hope so too, caitlinp. If this storyline is going to work well, it has to serve as a mechanism for dragging up all the issues that they must surely have on some level. No one goes through what the guys have gone through--Syed especially--without emotional aftereffects. If the surrogacy is just a device to create new drama--e.g., evil Glenda jerking around the would-be dads--without exploring all that other stuff, I'm less keen.
The scenes these past few days don't give me great confidence, though. I mean, couldn't they have come up with a better lead-in than Christian confessing that he kissed another guy--when we clearly saw that he was kissed and pulled away? It's such manufactured drama, and a shame, really, because they could have done so much more.
If it does turn out that Roxy is the surrogate--a much more intriguing scenario, in my opinion--there is real potential for some of those issues to come to the fore (especially compatability problems), since she doesn't care much for Syed and is so emotionally invested in Christian. I can't help but wonder whether the "Why did you have to be gay?" scene from yesterday may turn out to be important in the long term. I guess we'll see!

It's such manufactured drama, and a shame, really, because they could have done so much more. This, definitely. The "cheating" event was such a farce, it's almost unbelievable they even bothered. And given that they haven't dealt with issues very much at all in a long time, I don't think they'll start now. I have very little faith that anything good will come of this developing storyline. Even if Roxy is a surrogate for them (that just sounds like a terrible idea when I write it). Yes, they were on very briefly. Syed basically forgave Christian, and (while babysitting) Christian brought up the idea that they have their own kid. Syed scoffed.

I agree. These are two people who had a lot of issues that they needed to deal with. Syed is still married, both he and Christian treated one another poorly for over a year, Syed is estranged from his family, and Syed needs to establish an identity beyond just being Christian's boyfriend.
Going straight to the baby plot just seems lazy.

I'm glad to hear that Glenda won't be the surrogate. But there is no denial that the "option of surrogacy" will be discussed. Roxy, then?
It sounds as though the show is in turmoil right now. Sam Womack (Ronnie) has quit, and the writers are discussing a "u-turn" on the baby-swapping storyline. I wonder whether all that chaos is a factor in the decision to put the Chryed baby plot on the front burner.

It won't take Syed long to change his mind about starting a family. I wonder how will the drum up drama for this story, because based on the spoilers, it doesn't look like a very dramatic or entertaining story.

I see so much drama happening if Roxy has a baby for Christian and Syed why because deep down Roxy is in love with Christian. So having a baby together will bond them forever.I see Syed being jealous of Roxy and Christian.

I'm hoping someone could explain a couple of things for me. 1. Roxy inhertiance the Vic then she had another club. 2. What happen with the Vic and what happen to her other club. Thank you,

Roxy sold The Vic after accepting the fact that her father had molested her sister. I don't know what's happened to the other club, she may have lost it when she started having money troubles, or maybe tptb forgot that it exists.

I've only seen one or two scenes lately but figured Roxy would be in the surrogate story, because the actress playing Roxy looked pregnant to me when she was at Ronnie's wanting to see the baby, right after Ronnie swapped them.

I'm getting discouraged by the surrogate storyline, I just don't think both Christian and Syed are ready for a baby. And is it really smart if it really would be Roxy? Don't get me wrong I love Roxy to heart, but other then that she is just plain weird! I think that in the end they still won't have a baby cause Roxy would love it too much...
That's my thoughts. I could be wrong, but it just gives me the chills...

Thanks Caitlinp for answering my questions. You're welcome. I may have a partial answer about the other bar. According to an upcoming spoiler, Jack wants to get out of running the bar, so he sells part of it to Roxy's cousin Phil, which upsets Roxy. I don't know if this means that Jack is the one who owns the club, and not Roxy, or that she only owned half of it with him. But, even though they hardly ever show it, it's still around. I just read an old rumor that came out before the surrogate storyline was confirmed, it said that Roxy will want to sleep with Christian in order to get pregnant. I've never gotten the feeling that she is in love with Christian, but a lot of people around the internet seem to feel this way, and believe that that will be the major source of drama in this storyline. I've always felt that it's more of a case of Roxy taken Christian for granted, and leaning on him when she doesn't have anyone else in her life, and that's why she's so jealous of Syed, but I could be wrong.

I read that somewhere too, I was utterly shocked. It would be a stupid, very stupid thing if Christian would ever sleep with Roxy, cause I agree with you, over the time being I also started thinking Roxy is in love with Christian. It would also be a stupid thing cause it would hurt Syed like hell, he gave up everything for Christian. That's probably part of why I don't like the surrogate storyline. In my eyes Christian and Syed belong together... (Oh btw, caitlinp. Just a funny thing, my name is Cathlyn xD Just about the same name ^-^ )

I don't think there's any chance of that! ;D Wasn't there a reference somewhere to Roxy already being pregnant? Maybe I'm misremembering...

Friday, January 21: "Zainab enquires about a liquor licence for the Argee Bhajee and Masood agrees to let her apply as it makes sense for the business, but only as long as the licence is not in his name. Tamwar visits Syed and asks if he can stay for a while. Syed tells him about the idea of having a baby with Christian and, as he does so, he comes to a decision--what will Syed decide? It's nice to see that Syed and Tam can still rely on each other. Why do I suspect that Syed's decision is to go ahead and have a baby?
