I'm enjoying the Merce/Nelson relationship as well. I believe Nelson wants to hide the relationship because Fidel is his boss. And I think there is supposed to be quite an age difference between the two -- Merce is only 20-ish and Nelson maybe in his 30's? Carmela, maybe you can clarify for us? Thanks, as always!

Darkolover, Dorothy, the reasons Mercè/Nelson hide their relationship are, for Nelson, Fidel is his boss (very good this name! for the Cuban Nelson, he's "mi comandante", as Castro!); for Mercè, he's his father and parents always want the best for their sons and daughters, so she knows his father wants for her a best boyfriend, with studies, a good profession etc. In fact, Fidel is a worker, but he expect for his daughter something better.
Mercè talked some days ago with his father about to have a boyfriend working in a bar, but she didnt tell him anything about Nelson. It's possible the age difference to be another problem.
About Iago in yesterday and today episodies, Radovan attacked him because (another time!) Jota deceived both them: he robbed a fine work of art, a Crist picture, and said Radovan that Iago aided him. So, Iota despeared with the picture and now Radovan wants Iago to find both, the picture and Jota. If he doesnt, Radovan will kill Iago.
Iago goes to talk with Sergi, but Radovan doesnt want him to do it. Iago began to ask Sergi about Jota, if he's in prison, or elsewhere. Sergi doesnt know it. And when Iago is called by Radovan, Iago said Sergi he was called by Max, and he wants to talk with him seeing his face, so he run at home to talk with him by messenger. Also, when Radovan sent him the picture's message, Iago says Beni it's Max sending a message because he misses Iago. So Iago hides the Radovan's calls after his comunications with Max!
Iago called his old colleages to find Jota, and today someone tells him Jota is in the country (la Cerdanya, near the Pyrenees Montains). So asked Joan to cover him because he said Beni that Joan talked him about a cousin of Berta that lives there. Beni tells him to go with him next week end, but Iago says is better to go alone, he doesnt know how this cousin will recieve him.
Beni is a little jealous, but Iago says him dont worry, "my family is here!".
Sergi talked another time with him and Iago said him he remembered Jota because all this about Berta, Joan etc, and that wanted to do clean and know what happened with Jota. But I think Sergi didnt believe him (but he has another preocupation, now with Marga!).

Thanks Carmela. I sure hope this isn't a way to get Iago written out of the story before Max can make an appearance. That would be just too cruel. I'm sure we'll be in for some major drama like the end of last season with Radovan back. Since Iago is using Max as a cover for his calls from Radovan thought I would share this about Bernat. Finally was able to get the old TV movie he was in back in 2000, Valeria. Our hero plays the young Eduard who has suffered some type of brain trauma. I've uploaded a couple of video clips. Really Merce Aranega and Bernat are great in it. I think it's one of the best characters played by her. She's a good actress, but not always has good characters. Now is playing in theater an terrible and hilarous lady, very different from Valeria, but critics say this is the best character she has played. Surely Bernat has so much phisical activity in his new play (far of Gonzalo's dishes!), so he's slimer! (And tomorrow, I'm going to see him in "Bufals"!). Catalan people are only 7 millions and, it's true, Catalan actors are a small group. They are all in El Cor or in TV3 movies and series, and playing theater. For exemple, next wednesday, I'm going to see Ferran Rañe (Gerard) and Tony Sevilla (Paco) in a comedy. People and critics say it's very well played by both of them. I know Rañé is a very good actor, but Tony Sevilla... I think I dislike Paco! |

Carmela, Help! I'm translating yesterday episode. Yes, Iago talks with Abel/Joan about his problems, about his past, etc. His father (as I'm sure he's) has also a dark past, he knows who Radovan is, gives (or lends) him the money, and offers him help. A new information about El Cor: stops in July, as always, and follows in September but ends this December. So, if Bernat couldnt shot in April, Max would come back to close the series in september to december. The main story line this season is all about Ros's death, but the three last months, people want to see Ivan/Eli and Max/Iago together, so theirs would be the main story line. People want them to marry! A great wedding of the two couples to close the series. They are its best characters! Another topic in the series: the naked men's calendar. We knew yesterday who they are (and I think in the play I'm going to see next Wednesday, I will see Paco this way!  ) The calendar is an idea from some women, that wanted to have their men in it. And it will put for sale in April 23th, St. George Day, that in Catalonia is as Valentine Day. It's a very beautiful day, Books and Roses' Day, and I think the best to visit Barcelona. Tradition says men have to gift red roses (from the dragon blood!) to women, and women, books to men (it's Books' Day in Spain for Cervantes and Shakespeare). Now, women have roses, but also books! In the series, the men's calendar is a gift for women in St. George Day (and what do gay couples in St. George Day? I've seen some of them with the both gifts, the red rose and the book. There are also colored roses, some rainbow colored roses) |

In ep. 1722, people (Fidel, Nelson, Forques)like Beni's song (his music and lyrics), but not Beni's voice! Forques suggested to look for a singer, like K or another person. In ep. 1721 we saw Rafa singing. He has a good voice! EPISODE 1723AT RAFA'S STANDIAGO (by phone): Not, Berta's cousin has been very kind. She has been talking with me very much about my mom. Listen, Beni, can I explain it to you later? But who has said it to you? But if you sing well! Not, very well, Beni. Listen, I cant follow because Rafa is waiting me (Rafa makes a gesture he doesnt). Juli is in a downward spiral since he became BFF with Jofre. Eli has told Iago this and when Iago see's Juli drunk he has a talk with him. He tells Juli he has been there and advises Juli to stay away from bad company. This when Iago could hold a grudge against Juli and his family for what Orpinell did to Iago. Wonderful scene, Iago/Juli! Juli is Iago when he was 15 (and Jofre is in the way to became another "J"). I'm translating it.
Another beautiful thing, what Iago's father is doing for him. The same Max did the past year, when they also were looking for Jota. I think Iago would be wandering who is really this man!

Really, Iago is a wonderful character. Now, there are 3 storylines related to him.
1) Juli
2) Radovan
3) Beni's song
1) IAGO AND JULI
If we ask how a good person like Iago could be a thief, the answer is Juli's story. Juli and Jofre could be Iago and Jota when they were 15 or 16. Just at this age, Berta went into jail and, clever but weak (like Juli), and without a father or an elder brother, Iago falled into crime.
So Juli is a very lucky kid: he has Iago to be like an elder brother. And their conversation in ep. 1725 got what didnt do Orpinell nor Gerard: to face up to Jofre (in ep. 1726). To save Juli iwill be the best thing in Iago's life, if he could!
Now, I'm translating Iago/Juli's scenes.
EPISODE 1725: IAGO AND ELI IN PERIS
ELI: He hasnt appear for the class and dont get me the phone. I've called him two times.
IAGO: And you think something passed him
ELI: Not, I'm sure he dont. What happens is that he maybe is with Jofre where I dont know, and he has past from coming
IAGO: But he always seemed to me to be a very serious boy
ELI: He is so, he's a very good kid and has much nut, but he joins Jofre and it's as if he transformed himself (Iago says yes with his head). I dont know, he becomes as brainless as him. I dont know why he pays atention to him.
IAGO: These things pass sometimes. You let carry yourself and you dont cacht on.
ELI[pay atention to Iago's expression when she's telling this!]: Yes, I know it, but when you look it from outside, it's difficult to understand it, how a boy so ordinary and with a nut over the average could be entangled by a jerk like Jofre. I dont know if going to the store to talk with his parents
IAGO: Man, I would talk first with him. Look, I cant tell anything about Patricia, but I didnt trust Emili. He can be in a very fool mood.
ELI: Really?
IAGO: And if you can save him from a bummer, it's better, right? (he sees Abel outside Peris) Well, I'm coming back, right? (but when he does it after talking with his father, Eli isnt here).

EPISODE 1726: AT THE HIGH SCHOOL
Jofre says Juli to puncture with him the four wheels of his form master's car because he has been expeled.
JULI: Jofre, I hasnt been expeled

JULI: Yeah, and for this reason yesterday night you let me hung, didnt you?
JOFRE. Come on, guy, you arent used to drink
JULI: Look, Jofre, I pass. You only remember me when you need me (Jofre pushes him)

JOFRE: Dont be proud with me, you're a shit!
JULI: This is for this reason. A guy like you doesnt need a shit like me as a colleage. Go with people in higher classes, that are better liked [Jofre always talks about going with higher classes girls, and doesnt with Lluna or Alba]. 2) ABOUT RADOVAN: IAGO AND HIS FATHERIn ep. 1724, Iago talks with Abel about the Crist stolen by Jota to a coleccionist, a very valuable work of Romanesque art. And tells him he couldnt get anything from the aliby agency's file. Abel says he doesnt think Jota to look for job in computers firms. But the way to find Jota could be through a car he maybe bought with his new identity (because surely he's using his new name to hide himself from Radovan), as Abel has a contact that could get Jota's adress, if he did so. EPISODE 1725: AT HOMEABEL: My contact has produced good results. There is a car recorded with his false name, and an adress appears asociated to the record near Bellvitge
IAGO: Thank you very much, Joan. Listen, I dont know how to be grateful. Look, I'm going there by now.
ABEL (catching him): I dont know if it's a good idea, it's better you not to go there
IAGO: Why? What happens?
ABEL: You must be very careful if you dont want Jota to get away from you another time. Finding him costed to us very much.
IAGO: Yeah, I know it, but I need to talk with him. The sooner I do it, the better!
ABEL: If he suspects that you are looking for him, he will escape. It's me who is going there. And if he really has betrayed Radovan and has involved to you, he wont let you to approach him. He doesnt know me.

And 3) Beni's song:
Beni found the inspiration for his lirics in the crying eyes (Fede's photo) in La Fusteria. And his song talks about people to whom their beloved person left and they have "only tears". When Rafa listened it, he cried because he remembers Isabeleta, and accepted to sing it. He doesnt leave the hope of Isabeleta's coming back to him (despite Iago's advise!). So he wanted to change the end of the song to do it more hopeful. But Beni let him clear he's only the singer.
Rafa identify himself with Beni's song, but it also could be Max&Iago's song (and Ivan&Eli's). Marc sings well, and Bernat also does it (as I could listen him in "Bufals"), so they could sing it together! (for example, at the end of the season when Max came back with his boyfriend).
I enjoyed very much with Bernat's play. It's a really good play by a young author, his text has a deep message, the five actors (3 men and 2 women) sing, dance, fight and talk during all the play (1 h.15'), that has only their quality as actors because hasnt any set (only 3 laundry machines that actors use in their actions). Wonderful! And Bernat Quintana (and the other 4) are very close to you (2 m. or less!). I toke atention specially to his hair. In most of the play, he wears it tied back because there is much action. But at the end, when they are quiet, he has his hair untied and it's very beautiful!

Yesterday's episode, Rafa went to Beni's home very early (Iago still didnt have weak up) to sing Beni's song:

Beni likes very much Rafa's way of singing (and tells him his song will be a ballad, so I think we will cry when Rafa will sing it). And they have to prepare the song for Forques, so when Iago wakes up, Rafa tells him he has to open the fruit's stand. But then, Radovan calls him (Iago says it's a commercial call, and Beni says calling for this reason at so early time ougth to be a crime).
RADOVAN: It past the 15 days [he gave Iago to find Jota]. I hope you have news about your friend Jota and about where is the fucking Crist. If dont, you know you will respond for everything.
Iago sends a message to his father: "Have you any news about Jota", and Abel answers. "Yes. Joan". So he doesnt open the fruits stand, he meets Abel in Peris. And outside there, they talk about Jota.
ABEL: Yesterday I had received a track about Jota. But I wanted to assure it wasnt false before telling it to you. He works as a commercial agent in a firm.
IAGO: Are you sure?
ABEL: I have checked it
IAGO: But he works for Radovan, what in the hell is he doing as a commercial agent?
ABEL: I supose hiding hiself for Radovan not to find him.
IAGO: I dont know. It seems to me very strange, all of this.
ABEL: The firm is in an industrial estate. This is the adress. He goes there everyday, you will know we will find him.
Iago looks at the adress and says:
IAGO: I have to open the stand, but I cant wait until the afternoon. I'm going there by now.
ABEL: We can go there when you like
IAGO: Joan, wait. Look, I'm very grateful with you for what you has done for me, but you have been already too involved in this story, do you listen me? From this moment, I will follow alone.
ABEL: Listen, it can be dangerous. We dont know how Jota will react.
IAGO: Dont worry, nothing bad will happen to me!
ABEL: Iago!
IAGO: No! This is my matter, and of nobody else!
Well, daddy wants to do what he didnt when Iago was a kid, but....
Meanwile, Beni and Rafa met Forques, who has listened to the song and he likes it. Beni has to do another one. But there is a bigger problem: Rafa has sense of shame, he only sings when he's showering, and never has song with audience. Forques said he must sing before 2000 people in a TV set (and all the country at their homes!) every week. And do interviews, etc. Rafa is frightened, but Beni says dont worry, they will rehearse
Then, someone calls Rafa: a fruits seller found his stand closed, so Rafa went there. Beni called Iago and send him a message, but Iago's phone is switched off. Beni is very worried about him.

IAGO AND HECTOR
Iago is hidden behind a car. When Hector (Jota's brother) opens his one, Iago says him:
IAGO: Hi, Hector! You didnt expect to find me, right? So I didnt!
HECTOR: What do you do here? How have you found me?
IAGO: In fact, you arent the person I'm looking for, it's your brother. Where is Jota?
HECTOR: Look, I dont know. Nobody knows it.
IAGO (pushing him to the car): You also are meddled in, son of bicht!?
HECTOR: Leave me alone!
IAGO: Tell me where is Jota? (and gives him a punch)
HECTOR: Go to hell!
IAGO: Tell me it or I will break you with fucking punchs! (and he beats Hector).
Meanwhile, Beni and Rafa are talking in La Fusteria. Beni follow calling Iago.
BENI: Damm it, he doesnt answer!
RAFA: When I will find him, he will listen to me! I have the stand close several hours.
BENI: It's strange, it isnt?
RAFA: What he is, is a irresponsable. What he has, it's a little will of working, with his spare days and his whereabouts.
BENI: No, no, no. Iago isnt this way. I dont know, if something happened to him?
RAFA: No, man! What do you want, that happen to him? If it was something urgent, we would know it. For example, if Max was here, he would have called you at once to tell it to you, right?
BENI: No, yes! Yes, of course, there would be some explanation.
RAFA: But if the explanation isnt really good, I think to take away from his wage what I havent earned today!
BENI (to Rai): Havent you seen Iago by chance?
RAI: No, no. But Fede has said to me he has seen him this morning in Peris, with his friend... Joan, it's his name?
BENI: Damn it, Iago!
RAFA: This one has preferred to take some beers with a friend than to go to work
BENI: After meeting this man, he's very strange. I will talk with him today, right? It isnt normal he had left you hang this way. Iago is a good kid.
RAFA: Yes, yes, but... look, I want to change the topic because I'm too angry. Listen, have you talked with Forques when I left this morning?
Afterward, they talk about Rafa's problem; he's afraid to sing with audience. Beni proposes Paco Rafa to sing free in La Fusteria. And Paco adds free churros and fruits for juices. Beni and Rafa agree.
And, in the last scene of this episode (what means tomorrow's episode will start with Iago, Radovan and Hector), Iago and Hector are sat in the floor (after beating each other).
IAGO: Were you two who stole it, right?
HECTOR (he seems not to know what Iago is talking about): What?
IAGO: Look, you ought to manage with Radovan, to give it back what you have stolen him, that I havent anything to do with it, hav you listened to me? Kill you among all of you, but leave me alone!
HECTOR: I dont know what in the hell are you talking about!
IAGO: REally you dont, idiot? Look, Radovan came looking for me because me to find your brother, because the son of bicht of him told him I stole the Molianes's Crist. But look! There wasnt me with whom he stole it, were you, right? With his brother (Hector says not with his head)
HECTOR: I dont work with my brother since many time ago.
IAGO: Look, dont put shit over me with your shits, OK?
HECTOR: I havent put you in any shit!
IAGO: What do you want, that I break your face another time? Were you two who stole the Crist! You have deceived Radovan and now you have past this shit to me!
HECTOR: Why do you have to believe him?
IAGO: And why do I have to believe you, idiot? To you and to your brother, too?
But a car arrive: Radovan is inside it, with a gun!
HECTOR: Very much son of bicht! He did it for you to find us!

Wow! Lots of action today. This whole Iago/Radovan story line is going to stress me out. Iago was so miserable, lying to Beni. Carmela, thanks for the translations!
Also, Carmela, thanks for the report about Bufals. It sounds interesting. Glad to know you enjoyed it.

) The calendar is an idea from some women, that wanted to have their men in it. And it will put for sale in April 23th, St. George Day, that in Catalonia is as Valentine Day. It's a very beautiful day, Books and Roses' Day, and I think the best to visit Barcelona. Tradition says men have to gift red roses (from the dragon blood!) to women, and women, books to men (it's Books' Day in Spain for Cervantes and Shakespeare). Now, women have roses, but also books! In the series, the men's calendar is a gift for women in St. George Day (and what do gay couples in St. George Day? I've seen some of them with the both gifts, the red rose and the book. There are also colored roses, some rainbow colored roses)
