Just finished La Academia. It wasn't very good. It was actually very disappointing and a lot less gay than I thought it would be. Not worth the watch imo. The story was weak (terrible writing) and the gays got very little screen time. I want to write more but I'll give it away with spoilers. Anyways... the gay couple was cute I guess. That's literally the only good thing I have to say about this show. The lack of screen time for the main GAY character reeked of homophobia, there's another reason I find the show offensive, but again... I don't want to give away spoilers. The ending was somewhat satisfying, though even that could have been done better. I do not recommend this show. It was actually quite terrible.

The trailer for Red Flags on Atresplayer just dropped and I'm extremely disappointed. There's no sign of any gay (male) characters, only heteros and lesbians, as usual. I think you are wrong. The show is created by Nando López who is a writer and openly gay. He said that he wanted to make main characters from characters who are always in supporting roles. And i think at least one (if not two) of the main male characters are gay

Any gay content in Ripley?

Any gay content in Ripley? No. Ripley implies to the police that Miles may have been gay and that's what got him killed. Ripley implies that Freddy and Dickie might have been lovers. Ripley lies to detective McCarron that Dickie was in love with him. Marge was suspecting Reipley was in love with Dickie, but she was never sure.

There was a gay scene on Sugar that on Apple TV.
Appears Kenny seduces a hacker for info to help him get info / dirt on people to control for the family he works for. Don't know if he gay or bi.
They did not show much sex just end of them both panting.

There is a gay couple in the new French Netflix show, Anthracite. Super cute couple, but unfortunately it doesn't have a happy ending for them.

I've finally watched the first three episodes of Red Flags and it's actually quite good. The gay guy gets plenty of screen time (well, it's at least decent) and he actually gets to have sex! He acts like an actual gay guy, not celibate. It's very refreshing. I will say though that it's kinda gritty and dark, somewhat depressing. It's a hard watch at times, but it's very well done imo. Good acting and writing. I will say though I hope we get to see a different side of Toni soon. Would be nice to see him fall in love, instead of just cruising for sex. But I have a feeling that is coming.

Tu vida es mi vida is a Mexican telenovela with a gay storyline. Now it turns out there's another Mexican telenovela with a gay storyline. The name of it is El amor no tiene receta. I won't make a thread for it as it's still very early. The gay characters who are supposed to get together have barely had any scenes together. But it looks like they might get more scenes together now as Pepa (Pedro Pablo) just started teaching Bosco maths as it seems like he is struggling with the subject, so I think they will have more scenes together from now on. I'll make a thread for the show if/when something more happens.

Dead Boy Detectives wasn't very gay at all. Very disappointing actually. The show is not even in the top 10 here in Norway, so I assume it will get cancelled. The gay guy has unrequited feelings for his friend, who is straight. He has a couple of gay love interests, the cat king and the crow (which is the actual plot twist). I think he has one gay kiss during the whole show. There was also a lesbian kiss at one point. The straight guy gets a love interest who gets more screen time than both the gay love interests combined and the straight love scenes are more explicit (not very explicit, but still more than the gay scenes).

Disappointing, but I guess the cast list gave it away since there were no plausible gay love interests on it (unless you were an incorrigible optimist who believed there was a chance both the boys in the title would be part of the community).

I found it very gaycentric actually. The gay kid had two love interests, but wasn't into any of them. How was it gay centric? It wasn't very gay at all. It hardly had any gay scenes. It was very disappointing. They should have had both Edwin and Charles being gay. I'm sick of sad unrequited gay love stories. I actually hope the show gets cancelled. It was insulting and offensive. I do NOT want breadcrumbs. You either commit to gay characters and telling gay stories, or you don't tell gay stories at all. Dead Boy Detectives was beyond pathetic. Considering the viewing numbers it will probably be cancelled. It's not even in the top 10 here in Norway. Maybe it's a good thing. I didn't like it at all and won't be sad if it doesn't get renewed. It's a shame. It had potential. If Charles was gay, if both were gay, it would have been much more interesting and probably more popular and actually had viewers. There's a reason it's not more popular. People didn't like it. It's obvious why.

Well, there are some quarters who would argue it is not more popular because it had one gay co-lead, instead of two straight ones.
That being said, I watched it over the weekend and I agree it wasn't gay-centric ... but nor was it hetero-centric. I feel like love lives took a backseat for ALL the characters, including the straight ones. I didn't see any straight love scenes (nor gay or lesbian ones), so I'm not sure where that comparison came from? I would've liked to see Charles reciprocate Edwin's affections - in an ideal world - but I would've settled simply for Edwin getting a regular love interest. Instead he got three recurring ones, which is more than any other character (and Niko didn't even get one). I'm not familiar with the comics - is Niko a character from them? If not I think her role could easily have been replaced with a gay/bi teen boy as a regular love interest for Edwin. We really didn't need the Cat King (while he never strayed across the line of consent, he came off as creepy) and the other love interest was also an iffy choice. One thing that perplexed me is why they loaded the show with profanity, gore and violence but were so coy about sex and nudity?
