For the last two years we've had a series of Japanese BL's released under the name of the 'MBS Tunku Drama Shower', which was a collaboration between the MBS TV company and the Kadokawa Media Corporation who ran a popular drama label called 'Tunku' that published Yaoi novels and Manga. The agreement was for a one year period to provide a guaranteed programming block on MBS to broadcast BL drama series based on stories published by Tunku. At the end of the original run it was deemed a success and was renewed for a second year, and recently it came up for renewal again. The news is not so good this time around though, as the exclusive association with Tunku has now ended and the MBS slot will be open to all comers. It's being rebranded as 'MBS Drama Fill' and will no longer be dedicated solely to BL series but will encompass other genres as well. So basically, the slot has become a general drama block again. * These series were all part of the MBS Tunku Drama Shower.

When I first saw this trailer a few weeks ago I thought it was just some old series that had been dredged up from a decade or more ago, and was being re-released on YouTube to make a bit of money for the company, but it's not. It's actually a new 2024 remake of a series from 2015 called 'Lady Boy Friends' and will have ten episodes. (MDL says sixteen episodes but other sources stick with ten). It's not my cup of tea at all, but here's the full 18 minute long trailer to see if it floats your boat. If so, you can tune into the Instinct Channel on YT every Saturday for more. Quick synopsis: "A group of LGBT students navigate their way through life at an all-boys school where hormones are surging and the desire to explore further usually ends in nerve-wracking battles of curiosity and conflict."

The first teaser for a new BL due to be screened on Channel 3 HD has been released. It comes with the English name of "YoungBoy", although its native title actually translates as 'High School Student and the Red Cloth' (or slight variations depending on the translator used). It will star Leng Natthaphon and Mike Patipat as the central couple Thonkla and Pen Nueng. No official synopsis yet, but the teaser shows a fairly straightforward narrative: * Don't expect it anytime soon. It currently looks like it's been scheduled for a fourth quarter release (most likely November).

Just when we thought we were finally going to get JeffBarcode's sci-fi series 'Wuju Bakery', this month after numerous delays, it has been postponed yet again. Apparently, the reason is so they can alter the episode runtime from 30 to 50 minutes, add some enhanced CGI and look for a more fitting platform on which to screen it. Although the notice implies the postponement is just from early to late March, I'm pretty much convinced the show will now not premiere until the second half of the year (late summer at the earliest).

Although I knew Yoon Phusanu ( 'Unforgotten Night', 'My Ride' etc,) had left his agency Y Entertainment, I didn't realise that he is in the middle of litigation with them. Earlier today, he and his legal team held a press conference to shed some light on his dispute. If you're interested in what he had to say, the video below is fully subbed:

Change2561 who gave us the well-received 'Pit Babe' have released the teaser for their follow-up BL series "This Love Doesn't Have Long Beans". It's based on the novel of the same name by Ninepinta (who also penned 'Never Let Me Go', 'Enchante' and 'Last Twilight'), and stars 'Pit Babe' side couple Sailub Hemmawich and Pon Thanapon in the main roles of Oab and Plawan, with fellow 'Pit Babe' actors Benz Atthanin and Garfield Pantach as this series side couple Methas and JJ. Quick synopsis: "Plawan, a model with an irresistible passion for stir-fried basil lands a seven-figure deal to go undercover and intern at Chef Oab's renowned restaurant. Apart from being known for his excellent skills in the kitchen, Chef Oab is also known to be a serious perfectionist, instilling fear even in his peers. How then, can amateur Plawan hope to overcome the challenges and win over the kitchen and the Chef himself?"

On a separate note, is there any news on production of the 2nd season on KinnPorsche? They were renewed pretty quick off the bat but then the studio ran into so many problems and it's been over a year so I'm wondering if it's still going ahead. Sorry justinate, I totally forgot to answer this. As far as I know, the second season was never officially cancelled by Be On Cloud, but I honestly doubt it will ever see the light of day after all of the BTS problems that went on. If I recall right, the second season was going to concentrate more on the relationships of Vegas/Pete, Kim/Porchay and Time/Tay rather than KinnPorsche themselves (though they would still be up front and centre in the family dynamic story), but the departure of Build (Pete), Jeff (Kim), Ping Touchchavit (Job) as well as some other minor cast members was always going to make it more difficult for them to continue. I think Build and Jeff in particular were too solidly identified with their characters for BOC to get away with a simple recast. However, the real killer blow IMO was the Build/Poi court case which had turned out particularly nasty. BOC pretty much sided with Poi at the outset and only suspended Build, declaring that the accusations, if proven, were the worst type of gross misconduct and would result in immediate contract termination. Build pre-empted that outcome and resigned anyway. When he won the case it left BOC in a precarious position on how to proceed. To my knowledge they never revealed what happened after that, but Poi is no longer with the company, and as one of the authors of the KinnPorsche novel, I suspect has probably taken all the rights to any follow-up story with her. Just dredging this old post up again to give an update. Daemi House (otherwise known as Yok and Poi, the authors of 'KinnPorsche') have sold all the intellectual property rights to the story and all associated characters, including Vegas/Pete, Kim/Porchay, Macau, Time/Tay and Top/Tan to Space Plus Agency Ltd. While mainly concerned with publishing, (and therefore more concentrated on taking the KinnPorsche universe forward in novel form) the new owners have made the rights available for a drama sequel to the original story. If taken up, any new production would necessitate auditions for an entirely new cast to play all the roles, since any involvement with BeOnCloud seems to have been ruled out.

Although kevvoi is taking some time away from the board at the moment, he did pop in to DM me about a couple of shows which he though were worthy of a mention here. The first is a series of tiktok style shorts from a Taiwanese company called AcroGrowth TV, which they have started porting over to YouTube from their Facebook page. Each episode only lasts a minute or two and follows the story of a young college guy who is trying to find the right moment to tell his friend that he likes him before they both graduate. It goes under the name "Graduation Celebration" and has four shorts available so far: If these minisodes are to your liking you can keep up to date with the series at the AcroGrowth TV YouTube channel.
The second title is 'The Servant and Young Master' (although the title actually translates as 'The Dandy and his Servant') which comes from Vietnam. It's also a vertical framed show, and although it was originally released in episode format, there is an hour long stitched together movie version complete with English subs which might be an easier watch. If for some reason you prefer to watch the separate episodes they are available on the Huy Pham 1984 YT channel. Here's the full movie version:

Back in December, the Thailand Marriage Equality Bill was submitted to Parliament to legalise same-sex marriage in Thailand. It was passed by an overwhelming 360 votes to 10 and moved on to its next stage to provide legally binding status in law. This week the Chamber of Deputies and now the Senate have officially approved the provision and passed the Marriage Equality Bill into law. The 399 approval vote by the Senate was such a landslide that it has effectively bypassed any possibility of an Upper House veto being attempted. There is one last stage to go through - which is the King's signature on the documents - but this is just a rubber-stamping formality due to Thailand having a constitutional monarchy. So Thailand will officially become the third Asian country to legalise same-sex marriage following Tiawan and Nepal. 🏳🌈🌈

'The Star' is the latest project from the small indie Wayufilm company. It follows the same format as their other recent productions, such as 'Country Boy', 'Rainbow Lagoon' and 'Male Entertainer' which they referred to as full movies, but split into two parts for monetization purposes. As such, the links were added to the short film section. Even though the format is no different here, Wayufilm have decided this production is a two part mini-series and not a movie, so I'll add the links here instead. It stars Night Yosakorn as Hope and Klong Chindanai as Nine.
Synopsis: "The old actors at a Y Series company have expired and the camp must create a new generation of couples instead. The fate of becoming an actor like this falls on 'Hope', a naive kid selling fried meatballs, who gets to act alongside 'Nine', a poor actor with a huge ego. When their first meeting does not go as smoothly as expected, Hope tries his best to win P'Nine's heart so that they can convincingly play the role of a romantic couple together until the end, but how hard will it be seeing that P'Nine doesn't seem to like him?"

'Please Teach Me' is a Korean BL web drama filmed in the vertical format that has now premiered on the TopReels app. It features Park Hyeong Seop from 'Jun & Jun' and Lee Sang Min from the Korean version of 'Why RU?', and will have 64 episodes. Don't get too excited though, as each of these episodes will only last a minute or two in length. The story follows acting prodigy Do Yoon and the already well-known idol Si Woo, who is also unfortunately known for his poor acting skills, who are pushed together when their paths cross at an acting workshop. Although the show was originally intended to be a TopReels app exclusive, the fact that the app is not available in either Europe or the Americas (and probably other global areas too) seems to have made the company have a rethink and now they are putting the series out on YouTube too. Here's the first 5 minisodes stitched together to see if it's to your liking. If so, you can keep up to date with the story at the TopReels YouTube channel * On the TopReels app, only the first 6 minisodes are free. It's unknown what the company's future intentions are for the series YouTube.

Although this is actually a movie, I'm leaving the details here for anyone that wants to keep an eye out for it.
Originally called "I'm Waiting for You Here", and still retaining that name in its native Taiwan, it will be internationally known as "A Balloon's Landing". It tell the story of a Hong Kong writer, who encounters a street gangster in Taipei and the two of them embark on a road trip to find the Whale Bay that legend claims will lead to paradise. It stars Fandy Fan, who became an all time fan favourite after his role in the volleyball themed 'History 2: Crossing The Line'. He plays A Xiang, the street gangster opposite Terrance Lau as writer Tian Yu. It will get its first release in cinemas across Taiwan on 10th May.
Here's the teaser and trailer:
Quick synopsis: "Tian Yu, a frustrated Hong Kong writer encounters A Xiang, a tough street gangster in Taipei. The two embark on a journey to find the Whale Bay, a destination that legend has long proclaimed to be the doorway to paradise for true soulmates. They discover unexpected turns and form a natural close bond along the way, bringing truth to the adage that 'There is always someone in the world who is similar to you and waiting for you."

Life Time Dream Production, the Filipino outfit who originally gave us the series 'PRE*SO'/'PRE-BO' and 'BO:SO' before YouTube baulked at their more adult gay storylines and terminated their channel, are back with a new series that won't be making an appearance on YT any time soon. Called 'RED ROD', it will be available to watch (through paid membership) at the company's website LifetimeDreamTV.com or via the LTD+ app which can be downloaded from the Google Playstore. Here's the full 8 minute preview to see if it appeals to you: Quick synopsis: "Red (ZK Nakaoka) and Rod (Dick Jordan), sworn enemies and polar opposites, are forced to live together in the same apartment. Red starts a Life Coaching livestream to help mend his and other people's broken hearts. This leads him to meet - and meet up - with Reboy (Ali Asaytona)"

Studio Wabi Sabi's announcement about its artists. Although GMMTV didn't put out the same type of welcome that they did for Santa, Boun and Prem, it appears that Sammy, Yacht and Stamp have also now transferred to GMMTV. In addition, Studio Wabi Sabi have confirmed that Boun/Prem’s current in-production series "The Vampire Project" will be transferred across to GMMTV, who will now have full broadcast rights, while Boun's first concert will be jointly managed by GMMTV and Studio Wabi Sabi.

While GMMTV will own the rights and broadcast rights to the Vampire Project, Wabi Sabi will still be producing it. Which fit with their new direction of getting out of artist management.
The big question is that GMMTV is getting oversaturated with pairings already. They have 9 pairings for the Love Out Loud 2024, and they still have the pairings from We Are, Only Boo, TayNew, and the potential MarkOhm. Now they are adding in BounPrem. GMMTV simply doesn't produce enough BL a year to give every pairing a show

It's official! The classic Filipino BL series is about to get a new sequel. During the 'Gameboys' cast reunion segment of IdeaFirst Company’s EnlighTEN Film Fest held a day ago, the company surprised everyone when they revealed that Cairo and Gavreel's story isn't quite over yet and will continue in a new upcoming production "Game Boys NYC" . Both Elijah and Kokoy will be reprising their roles which will centre around how they cope together whilst living in the Big Apple! From the assembled cast of the new show below, it looks like Adrianna (Pearl), Miggy (Wesley), Kyle (Terrence) and Kych (Achilles) will all be featuring too.

Seok Film (aka SUKFILM) have released the first episode of a four part mini-series on YouTube. Its native Korean title is actually 'The Guy Inside Me', although it has been given the new English name of "Blue Boys". Some confusion has arisen around this mini-series due to the fact a 2019 film called 'The Dude In Me' was due to get a TV remake and has been mixed up with this similarly titled show. It stars Choi Seungjin and Lee Hoolim as the two old school friends Jaemin and Nami.
The first part is only around 9 minutes long. The second part lasts just over 11 minutes:
Third part is 8 minutes long and the fourth part (finale) is over 11 minutes:

Although I haven't found a source article yet, a number of SKAM social media accounts are today alleging that the Korean version of the show has been cancelled. Part of their explanation is that "Fragile" the drama that was reported to be the new name for SKAM Korea, actually has no connection with the proposed Korean remake but is a new original series the producers have decided to go with instead, after it was decided that the SKAM format and subject matter would not work in Korea. Studio X+U, the Korean company who were linked with the remake, apparently said: “Fragile also portrays the concerns and daily life of teenagers, but it has nothing to do with Skam. It's a series created with original work.”

"House of the Dark Shadows" isn't actually a BL but a Thai Lakorn from 2021. It was adapted from the novel 'Always Ruean Rom Ngiu' by Phakhinai and tells the supernatural tale of the heir of a mill owner, who returns to the old family house to investigate the mysterious deaths of the owners. It stars actors Pinky Savika, Golf Anuwat and Aun Witaya as the three main players Malai, Dech and Khun, with one or two familiar faces appearing as guest stars. In fact, way back on the very first page of the Hub I posted a few pics of Yoon and Inntouch from the show. It's getting a mention now as it will be receiving its worldwide premiere on GagaOOLala starting tomorrow (23rd). When the series was originally screened on Thai TV it comprised of 27 hour long episodes. For it's international release it has been re-edited and will now have 41 shorter length episodes. Here's the MyDramaList page Quick synopsis: "A haunted house that hides a sad story; Malai marries Khun a wealthy lord, but it isn’t a happy ending for her, while Dech the manservant seems to have more than just the routine of daily service on his mind. He likes to please his master in a number of other different ways..."

In today's Part 2 of the GMMTV showcase there were 13 new titles announced. 7 of them (including 'Ossan's Love' which now has clearance) were BL's and 1 was a GL. Both Gemini and Fourth have new series coming, but not together and their shows are not BL themed. As assumed, Krist and Singto are back together with a new BL series. The titles are: "Ossan's Love" "The Heart Killers" "Perfect 10 Liners" "Thame Po - Heart That Skips A Beat" "Revamp, The Undead Story" - This was previously known as "The Vampire Project" when it was under Studio Wabi Sabi. "Sweet Tooth Good Dentist""The Ex-Morning""Us, the series" (GL)I've started threads for all the titles even though there's little detail at the moment. They all have the trailer though.

Especially considering Skam is about partying, sex and drugs, I am not surprised it wouldn't translate well to Korea. And considering the rumor was that they will completely remove the gay storyline, I doubt we would have been too interested in the end product anyway
