Today was the day of the Red Peafowl press conference in which the three main roles were going to be announced. In the end, only two of them were revealed. One was the character of the police officer 'Lu Yi-Peng' and the other was that of the mysterious young mafia boss 'Hongkong Shuai' Actors Maiake Kandis and Dollar Patchara were officially announced to play the roles of Lu Yi-Peng and Hongkong Shuai respectively. Maiake Kandis Wanaroon [ IG] is a Thai singer and actor who made his debut in 2017 as a Nadao Bangkok artist. He is best known to BL audiences for the bromance "Side By Side" (2017) and "Quarantine Stories" (2020). Dollar Patchara [ IG] is a newcomer actor, although he does have one BL under his belt - the yet to be released "Born To Be Y" (2023). To be honest I'm not sure it was such a good idea to make a big fanfare of announcing these guys like this. It built up people's expectations into thinking some big names were going to be revealed and left most folk disappointed when they didn't have a clue as to who either of them were. Having said that, a new four minute plus trailer was also shown at the press conference in which both actors seemed to acquit themselves quite well. I don't know why the company haven't posted that to YouTube? All they've put out is a fifteen second clip of snippets (above). Nothing from the street fight scene and nothing from the sex scene, which would have surely made folk have second thoughts about the two new actors abilities! There are a couple of bootleg versions of the trailer doing the rounds if you can find them (obviously filmed on phones by people in the audience). A two minute long version made it's way to twitterX earlier, and the full four minute plus version was on facebook (but less well filmed). I have no idea if they are still there. Hopefully, the company will put out the trailer officially soon. * EDIT - Full trailer is now in the Red Peafowl thread.

Young copywriter Khen is amongst a group of workers investigating an old house. Whilst there, he hears strange sounds and starts to experience the presence of ghosts. One in particular, the son of the former house owner becomes a magnet to him. Can Khen uncover the secrets of the house before it's too late?"

To be honest, I'm not sure this is even worth bothering about, but here it is - an eight second teaser to give us our first glimpse of Phun in the new version of 'Love Sick':

Earlier this week Be On Cloud held a press conference to announce details of the Teen Slasher BL that was written by author Sammon for the winners of BOC's 'Hidden Character' reality series - Ta Nannakun and Copper Phuriwat. The name of the series was revealed as 'DFF - Dead Friend Forever'The poster that was originally put out had two of the characters pictures torn away, however, they were revealed at the press conference to be Barcode and Us Nititorn when a revised version of the poster was unveiled. Some attendees noticed that Barcode's picture was the only one without any blood stains on it at all, immediately causing conjecture that he might be the killer; while a projected image also showed five of the cast with their eyes closed, causing further speculation that they might be the victims of the killer! Personally, that all seems a bit obvious to me, and I'm more inclined to think that BOC are just playing mind games with us. Anyhoo, we'll find out when the series gets underway on Saturday 23rd December!

Once again I'm left baffled by the occasional weirdness of the Thai audition process. Just two weeks ago we got the pilot trailer for a new haunted house BL called "The Hidden Moon" which featured Ben Brasier as Matthew (Mas), a house-bound ghost, and Folk Touch, as Khen, the human he falls in love with. It now transpires that despite appearing as the main characters in the trailer, neither Ben nor Folk had actually been cast in the series and were informed they would need to apply along with everyone else at the open casting call. Here they are on audition day, waiting to find out if they were good enough to get through to the next round! I wonder what skills they can show at a fifteen minute casting call that they weren't able to demonstrate while actually filming the trailer?!

'Love Sick 2024' is not scheduled to premiere until July next year but it's becoming obvious they are going to keep drip feeding us video clips and snippets over the next few months. Even though there's little to go on at the moment, I'll probably make a thread for it later today so as to keep everything together instead of having multiple posts here in the Hub.
In the meantime here's what the company are calling the series First Date Teaser:
* EDIT - Thread now created and Teaser from above now moved there.

Thought this update about Marriage Equality in Thailand was worth a mention... From the Thai Enquirer: "The Cabinet has approved the Marriage Equality Bill, and the draft law is expected to be submitted during the next Parliament session, which will start on December 12, said Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. If the draft bill is approved into law, Thailand will become the third Asian country, after Taiwan and Nepal, to recognize same-sex marriage. The draft bill, initiated by the Move Forward Party, passed its first reading last year. However, the bill was shelved after the previous parliament was dissolved ahead of the May general election.
In addition to the Marriage Equality Bill, Srettha promised that the government would also consider a bill allowing transgender Thais to change their official gender registrations and a bill to decriminalize prostitution. Srettha's administration is also submitting a bid for Thailand to host the World Pride parade in 2028."

Today was the Studio Wabi Sabi 'Next Page' showcase. Less grand than the GMMTV show but still quite a spectacle. Here's the relevant pilot trailers they revealed: "Sunshine In The Wind" Quick synopsis: "A florist who has the ability to smell people's emotions sees a running girl and discerns sadness from her. She runs after her to try and give succour, and they fall in love. There is a BL side couple between the florist's brother and another young man.""Star Scope" (I think we're going to need some tissues for this one!) Quick synopsis: "In love since childhood, two boys make a promise to never leave each other. However, one of them disappears and years later their paths cross again at the same university. The truth comes out when the runaway boy reveals he is unable to keep their promise because he has a terminal illness.""Forever You Project"
Quick synopsis: "Four cute college boys meet four hot medical students and each of them have their own romantic story to tell!""Vampire Project" (previously known as 'My Broccoli') Quick synopsis: "A young man who doesn't believe in the supernatural sees a picture with a broken glass frame of a supposed vampire. When he touches it, he cuts himself and his blood summons the vampire. Despite all the dangers that abound from the circumstance, the two of them fall in love."One other trailer of interest was "First Degree" a school murder mystery with Boun, Santa and Yacht. It's not clear whether this series will have any BL element or not. Quick synopsis: "After becoming a teacher, a young man kills himself in a school that has a curse, in which out of eight people, four must die in four different ways. The dead teacher's brother starts to investigate, but he ends up becoming the new target.

I'm curious if anyone knows if the subtitles are different for the same show depending on the platform? Might be related to my location but I seem to be seeing more shows showing up on multiple platforms at the same time: YouTube, iQIVI, Gagaoolala, Viki, WeTV. The most I've noticed is showing up on three at the same time.
If you were looking at just English subtitle translations is one platform better compared to others? I guess the main things I am looking for would be quality and timing (sometimes I have to go rewind to read them as they go by too fast). Thanks

I guess the main things I am looking for would be quality and timing (sometimes I have to go rewind to read them as they go by too fast). Thanks I'm no expert but from reading comments here and there I always get the impression that folk prefer GagaOOLala over the other companies. Grammatically their subtitles appear to be more fluent and often have better appropriation of words. Also, they seem to be more quirky when it comes to descriptive nouns to explain indistinctive visual moments, (eg) a phone constantly pings indicating new text messages but we aren't shown what they say so Gaga will add something like [multiple smutty gay texts arriving] or if there are other people chatting near the main characters we might get [Background gay murmuring] or [angry gay quarrel] to give more context to the scene. etc. VIKI can be a little more staid and straightforward with their subs than Gaga, but I think they're ok. And while I don't personally find iQIYI that bad either, I sometimes see comments from people complaining when it is announced that iQIYI have the rights to a show because they are not happy that they will have to put up with IQ's poor quality subs. Undisputed bottom of the list is WeTV who even I think give the impression at times that they have just used google translate to subtitle their series and are often guilty of misspelling words (and I'm not referring to the differences between Webster's English and Oxford English!) There are also plenty of instances where sentence variations are used on the different platforms. For instance in 'Stay With Me' when Su Yu met Wu Bi at the airport and they hugged, but were then interrupted by the cousin's disapproving cough, Wu Bi replied "Go and cough somewhere else" or "Go away with your cough" or "Go and cough outside" (even though they were already outside) depending upon who/where you were watching your episode from. Don't know if any of that helps you or not, Jabber! 🤪

Although its been rumoured for a while that Cheque Wacharawee had quit 9NAA, putting both of their advertised new BL's ( 'Kiseki series' and 'Lovely Addict') in jeopardy, nothing official was said by either side. When the trailer for 'Lovely Addict' recently appeared, Cheque was still present in it, but the scenes were obviously filmed at the same time as those from the original summer teaser. Also, the fact there was a disclaimer at the start of the new trailer saying it was just an example of the story and was being released for entertainment purposes only, it seemed to indicate that they were just putting it out because they didn't want to waste the footage they had already shot. Whatever the reason, the latest rumours are now that the series has been shelved. On Saturday Cheque finally broke his silence and put out a statement on his instagram account to officially confirm that he has quit 9NAA. Here's the translation: "Hello everyone, I (Cheque Wacharawee Kaewpoolsri) wrote this letter to officially inform everyone of my intention to withdraw from being an artist under the management of 9Naa Production Company since November 15, 2023, due to a working attitude in the past.
After the initial conversation, the company responded, stating that its lawyers should handle the negotiation. So far, I haven’t had any contact with the lawyer, which makes it harder for me to understand the situation because it’s unclear why I have yet to agree to participate in any previously announced activities including the two series (Kiseki Series and Lovely Addict) that the company had previously announced. I apologise for not having formally negotiated or agreed upon the matter. This incident has caused a great deal of inconvenience, pressure, and uncertainty for me and those involved.
In order to avoid further misunderstandings that may occur in the future. Therefore, it is necessary for me to come out and explain to everyone the true reason for the current situation. It is important for me to explain the reasons for withdrawing from the company this time so that everyone will be aware of the situation. Because it will directly affect my commitments and future obligations. I would like to thank all of you for your interest in this matter, and I want to resolve it in a professional and friendly manner. I hope everyone understands the situation. I therefore conclude that everyone should know."

They have now finally put out the trailer and given a premiere date of 6th March next year for its release. Back in September three of the four main stars were announced for the Thai remake of 'Addicted Heroin'. Only the role of Gu Hai / Wu Bi in the remake, was left unannounced... until now. August Vachiravit will take the coveted role of Hero. Unlike the other main actors who are all still teenagers in real life, August is now 27 and made his acting debut in 'Love Sick' way back in 2014. This will be his first return to BL since his role as Pete in that series and it's sequel.
