You'll be left waiting a LONG time for the boys to make love. They're only just broaching the topic in the comics, which are already on volume 7, and are yet to do the deed. If the show follows the same pace, it won't happen until the fourth and final season - if the show even lasts that long. In the comic, By chapter 7, Charlie and Nick have been dating for only 1 year. Plus Charlie has self esteem issues about his body.
In the show, they have been dating for months already (with only chapter 3 completed). They need to cover much more time between seasons because the actors will grow up fast.
Now, it's going to be weird in the show if after 3-4 years of being boyfriends, they still haven't had sex.

Now, it's going to be weird in the show if after 3-4 years of being boyfriends, they still haven't had sex. Spoilers are about graphic novel stuff, so possible series spoilers. I don't think they are going to fast forward. The actors are like 18-20 years old, not 12. They won't change as fast as, say the stranger things cast. And if the show gets more seasons Alice already said they're doing Volume 3 next(of the Graphic novel, which focuses on the Paris trip). If they push that forward even a year that would put it at the last summer before Nick and Elle would be going off to Uni, which make the entire rest of the source material make less sense. They're already going to make adjustments on some stuff on that trip because Tao already knows about Nick and Charlie (which I'm actually upset that Charlie didn't get to tell Tao like he did in the comic). That trip has stuff about how they to come out to the school, and Harry trying to redeem himself, and other things that wouldn't really make sense if it was a whole year later.

It's a hit globally. It hit the top 7 of the week with only 3 days of stream, and with very little hours of content.

It seems the show is a hit in Spain and the reviews are really good. I read one that said that this is the most adorable show of the year

For my taste a bit to sweet. Or I am getting to old, for this.🤔😄 But yes it is good, funny, and a light entertainment. It's not just you. I found it flawed. I don't get why the critics are so in love with this show. I didn't like it at all. It was too unrealistic and chaste for me. As if two teenage boys would just kiss in bed and not try anything else... ugh. You can totally tell it was written by an asexual woman. In real life two horny lads would jump on each other, yet they spent 8 episodes kissing. We get yet another chaste gay storyline for the masses. Maybe that's why it's so pooular. We all know society has an issue with gay male sexuality (as in gay sex). The chaste stuff is not the only problem I have either. The characters are one dimensional. Ben is a villain with no redeemable qualities. Nick is a perfect guy who does nothing wrong. Charlie is the misunderstood, quiet, bullied geek who just "happens to be gay". We've all seen it before. This story is nothing new. Last but not least, this is entirely superficial, but I'm shallow so what the hell... are we really to believe not one but TWO guys would fall for Charlie, who, (I won't be too mean) is extremely average? Not realistic. He was extremely miscast. Again... I don't get why the critics would rave about this show. And when I watch tv, and maybe it's just me, I prefer to watch pretty actors. I like it when gay storylines have two good looking guys in it. Maybe that's why I just couldn't get into Heartstopper. It's my personal opinion but I preferred Elite this season. As ridiculous as it was, yes, it was OTT and campy as fuck, but it never pretended to be something it's not. It's a primetime soap. It's ridiculous entertaining, but at least it's that... entertaining. I want fun shows to watch, not "cute". Also, the gays on Elite got to have sex, imagine that! Two horny teenage guys having sex! Something Heartstopper couldn't depict. I know I'm not the demographic of this show, and maybe that's why I hated it. I just didn't like it. I didn't "get it". As it was all too "perfect and cutesy" for me. Also, beneath it all it wasn't even very good, like with the one dimensional characters and the cringey dialogue which made me roll my eyes several times. Also, you could tell one of the guys is gay in real life as the kissing wasn't very convincing. Nah... I just have to admit this show wasn't for me. I am happy it's doing well (in viewers and critical acclaim), because it might mean we'll get more gay storylines in the future, which is always good. But that's about it. I might watch the next season if it gets another season if I'm bored enough. Heck, I'm starved for gay storylines. I'll watch anything at this point, whether I like it or not. That's how bad tv is these days, with so few gay storylines there really isn't that much to choose from.

I like it when gay storylines have two good looking guys in it. Maybe that's why I just couldn't get into Heartstoppe..... I can totally understand, why it is loved overall. Also it is not really my taste. First it is a good copy, TV version of the comic, especially compared to Riverdale, which is a worser version of the comic. Than the target group is definitely younger, maybe if I were 10 or 20 years younger, it would be look different to me. About the good looking guys, I think they look average good, not supermodel good, but I think it is more realistic, more authentic, that they not look like underwear models, like the same with Young Royals or Kitz. But I think it is also a better, realistic view, for the audience. Makes no false role models. The target group are Teens. I had a Nephew, which because of this, role model, you must as a Teenager, look like a underwear model, he calculated calories, his life was allways around what he can eat, with 17, he even don't eat his birthday cake, because of the fear, he would not look good enough anymore, if he eats it, it was really sick, instead of live his life and have fun, lucky this phase is over, now. So for me, average good looking is enough, especially if they play Teenagers, they don't need a Sixpack at this age, or a body fat under 5 %. The boy next door is good enough, and that is maybe also charming today. I find them anyway, because of the age, to young for me, that I would find them attractive. If I want good looking guys make out, I watch porn. Elite is, was good, but sometimes, especially Season 4 it is more about sex, like a porn, and the story which should be telling, is the side effects. Sex should be, a side effects, but the story should be first, how about a show is. About the critics, critics are also always a matter of time in the history. And if we are now nearly before Worldwar3 and after the pandemic. It makes tottaly sense, that the most of the critics and the audience want some light stuff to see, with less drama, because the reality had to much Drama, for most people to handle. So it is logical that at the moment, lighter, funny, sweet stuff is higher rated, than drama. About the kiss, yes unfortunately I agree with you, this could also be the case, that is only kissing, that the ratings are higher. Yes unfortunately skin on skin, make out sessions, is not allways a good view for everyone, especially with Gays, it is still a taboo. But I would also think, it would be unrealistic, if they had Sex, oral or anal, in this short time, after one finds out, I like men. But yes, a bit more, like petting, make out, or together wanking, I would say would be more realistic at this age, for beginners, than only kissing, especially for men. So in the end, yes it is not really my taste, but I can totally understand how it's stand, why it is so loved. It is not boring and not painful to watch. Because of the sweetness, and the lightness it is like candy, nobody could say no, to it, in the long-term.

Finally had a chance to finish the show. I loved it. Really sweet. Cavity causing sweetness basically. Considering that, it is not surprising that there was no sex. That just wouldn't fit with the type of show this was. As soon as I finished the first episode, I already know there won't be sex and the most we will get are kisses. This isn't a show like Gossip Girl or Elite, which are about the drama and the sex. This is a show that is clearly targeted to teens around the age of Charlie and Nick.
I think people just went into this with the wrong expectation, and just didn't recalibrate their expectation after the first episode made it obvious the type of show Heartstopper would be. Remember, their flirting basically consist of a montage of "Hi"s and soft smiles. That should make it pretty clear what kind of show this would be. Considering what is the obvious targeted age, I thought they might just hold hands at most, so I was pleasantly surprised they didn't shy away from the kissing.
For the young teen show that it is, Heartstopper was great and I can't wait til the next season.

The characters were one dimensional (not fully fleshed out at all) and the chaste stuff was annoying af. It's NOT realistic that two horny teenagers would only kiss in real life. I don't understand why people are ok with this? It's obvious they would have had sex if this was about a straight couple. Yet people seem to excuse it with the age demographic of the show... WTF?! I'm not talking about Elite type sex scenes either, I would actually be ok with them implying sex, like kissing on the bed, then a cut away, then hinting to it the next day. I do get that it's aimed at young kids and teenagers, but that STILL doesn't excuse the fact that they couldn't at least hint at sex in a tasteful way.

I'm on the fourth episode and i'm on the oposite side. When i started to watch i thought, i'm too old for this, but after the second episode i just wanted more
The show is clearly for kid but charming enough to be watched by an adult and i like that sex is anywhere to be found, there'll be plenty of time for that. I don't think a show like Euphoria is more realistic than this (which is clearly naive). Not all teenage have sex, and sex is not the center of everything to everyone. The characters are very young and they have time (if there are more seasons) to explore that, just like they did in Love, Simon (by the way i prefer the sexless first season).
I like there are very different representations of the gay experience, from this clearly first love in a very innocent way to the Elite troupe (even when Patrick seems more like a porn fantasy than a real character)

I just finished it and i loved it.
It's like a safe and happy place. I think the cast is great and the show is tender and adorable.
And i like they treat themes like bullying without going over the top like other teen shows.
I hope there's a second season

It solves the problem with the age of the actors by shooting two seasons back to back.

I’m glad we’re getting at least 2 more seasons… this show is super cute and great representation for LGBTQ+ kids

While they are renewed for two seasons, that doesn't mean Netflix can't come in and cancel it after S2. So I really hope they film it back to back to basically force Netflix's hand to show both seasons.
Also, considering the speed that they are going through the source material, another 2 seasons would bring them to the current chapter, right?

A friend of mine have watched this show and say to me, watch that show, this is so cute. And I have watched all episodes. And yes he was right, its really cute. To much cute and to much sweet for me. Maybe I‘m too old for that show. The story is nice, but for me, the show young royals is much better.
