Eh, is most of the actor/actress in this series even out? Has that been verified anywhere else, or is this the reporter pulling things out of thin air? The reporter only refers to the casting calls having stated requirements for ethnic and sexual identity. It does seem a bit excessive for a casting director to make people disclose their orientation during an audition, especially when they are casting bona fide teenagers. In any case, it's surely not a foolproof method; a guy auditioning for the role of Nick can easily claim to be bi (like Nick) when he's in fact straight and dating women exclusively. Maybe they mean gender identity? I know the trans role is played by a trans actress.

Well, i don't think the trailer is that important, Sebastian Croft doesn't even appear on the trailer and everybody knows he plays an important character.
There are a lot of pics of Sebastian and Joe holding hands so i don't think their relationship is a secret

Kit Connor is straight, the actor who plays Charlie is gay, the trans character is played by a trans actress, I don't know about the others.

With this show only consisting of eight 30-minute episodes I hope they don't wander off to much from Charlie and Nick's story.

You may want to prepare yourself for it, the interview with the trans actress mentioned there are scenes set in the girls' school so I can't imagine the boys will be part of that.

Cute show, but it was a bit too twee for me. It's clearly made for 12 year olds. What I didn't like was the fact that all the characters are cliches. Not two dimensional. Nick is too perfect. Ben is too much a villain. Nobody is that evil or that perfect. Cute kissing scenes though. Nick and Charlie had chemistry, but their story is too perfect. The jock falling for the bullied boy is cliche, more like a fan fic. And what's with the 16 year old boys not wanting to have sex? WTF?! Once again the gays are asexual. I'd give the show 6/10. I actually preferred Elite this season more.

the one on the right should do something about his eyebrows, almost looks like he's got a unibrow

This was cute but so short. Nick says at the end they were dating for months, but it feels like days.

I think the series felt too fast because people are binging it in like 4 hours. But timeline-wise the first two episodes cover about 2 months (Nick says in episode 2 that he met Charlie 2 months ago.) If they released it old-school, releasing an episode a week it would have felt like more time had passed.
I think it's a sweet show, but I also know where it's going because I've read the whole series. The one thing I missed is Charlie's younger brother, I don't know if they've erased him completely, or he could still show up later if renewed, but I loved his interactions with Nick in the graphic novels. It was more obvious how much time they both had spent at each other homes and hanging out before getting together in the novels, and in general the passage of time because it was explicitly stated when time passed.
Some other changes, Ben was not ever in Nick's friend group and he wasn't at the movies. His friends (except Harry) also clearly suspected that Nick had a thing for Charlie (more on that in the next book in the series too).
Also Aled is missing, but Alice Oseman explained that he wouldn't be in the show. They replaced him with Isaac.
Some things that didn't happen in the books are that girl never asked Nick out, so that whole plot line was new. I don't even think she's a character, but I may just not remember. The triple date/concert stuff was new (the movie theater stuff came directly after Nick told Charlie he had come out to Tara). Charlie was not going to break up with Nick over the fight or Nick losing his friends. The whole sport day never happened. They went from a conversation about the fight to the beach date. Coming out to Elle didn't happen until later, and Tao didn't find out either yet. Oh, and Charlie never quit the rugby team, so I'm not sure how that will play out if there is another season. It does feel like of few of these changes could have a larger impact if they continue the show. I'm sure they put a lot of thought into how it would work, though.

This show feels like it is made first and foremost for fans of the comic, who will know exactly what they are getting. Yes there have been some tweaks to plots, some characters added* and others dropped, but it's otherwise very faithful to the source material - no surprises since the writer is also the one adapting this for the screen. I suspect that people who are new to the series, and expecting something more along the lines of Love, Victor, will question some of the storytelling decisions and perhaps left disappointed about how tame it all is. Fair warning: You'll be left waiting a LONG time for the boys to make love. They're only just broaching the topic in the comics, which are already on volume 7, and are yet to do the deed. If the show follows the same pace, it won't happen until the fourth and final season - if the show even lasts that long. *Once I understood the rationale for substituting Isaac for Aled, I was perfectly fine with it. Less so with the addition of Imogen and her plot.

I'm 5 episodes in and, even though I feel about 10-15 years too old for this show, I'm loving it! It's very tame and safe, but such a cute little show.
It's funny how this got me feeling quite nostalgic when it resembles nothing of my personal experience in high school lol... It does remind me of how my first crushes felt though! It's actually a bit bittersweet... it's shame that things were so different when I was a teen, but still so happy for LGBTQ+ kids these days! (for living in a more accepting - even if still far from perfect - world and for having a show like this to see themselves represented in)

For my taste a bit to sweet. Or I am getting to old, for this.🤔😄 But yes it is good, funny, and a light entertainment.
