Anyone know how the show is doing in the ratings? There's no English subtitles yet but I tried following the full episodes best as I could and, as I feared, the new teens aren't featured much except as supporting players to the adults. Aristemo are still sweet together but it really doesn't feel like they are the central couple of the series. The adults' storylines eclipses theirs. I wouldn't mind so much if it were adults from the original show but instead it's totally new adults taking over.

As far as the ratings go, the series doesn't seem to perform as expected, but doesn't look so bad either. While the show doesn't have the same high numbers as other programs in Las Estrellas network, most of the week it's the most watched program of its time slot. There have been times, however, when ECNSE has been beat by another show from the rival network, TV Azteca. On its debut day, ECNSE was outperformed by Toy Story 3, which Azteca strategically programmed taking advantage of its sequel, Toy Story 4, right now being shown in theaters. ECNSE has been beat too whenever Azteca showed the mexican version of The Voice and certain soccer games. The Gold Cup was going on. Both programs have come to an end now. Here's Monday's ratings, from Nielsen (See "Juntos"). The first one shows audience made up of people 19-44 years old, the second one is made up of people over 4.   |

My fear was that low ratings would mean the show ending with its original 20-episode order, but it seems like they are still filming so they must have commissioned more episodes (otherwise they would run out by next week). I was pleasantly surprised that they actually broached the topic of the boys sleeping together; given the actors' ages, it wouldn't have been unexpected if they chose not to deal with it onscreen, but they did tackle it tastefully. Still way too little airtime for the boys, who don't seem to be anchoring a story of their own, but their roommates, particularly Carlota, are. |

I cannot for the life of me understand the twists of the last few episodes. Really sad to see this series end but it went out on a high. I guess I'll just have to wait patiently for all 26 episodes to be translated!
Hopefully it's been a turning point in gay male representation on Mexican television, and there will be more series where they are not afraid to make a gay couple the leads.

Since it will start airing in the States, I wonder if it will come with English subtitles. If so, I wonder if this would eventually overtake Zyrith's translations.

I suspect Zyrith is a college student with limited time to do subtitles - considering most of the Fall went by before Zyrith subbed the most recent part. I think we just need to be patient, as Zyrith has put a lot of effort into subtitling this second series.

I honestly thought (or at least hoped) that this series, and especially its gay-centric spin-off, heralded a sea change in the way Mexican telenovelas portrayed gay people and couples.
Unfortunately, more than a year on, it seems it was more like a flash in the pan. Subsequent gay representation is back to the middle ages, with gay characters allowed to make out with their female beards but not their male love interest.
