Its not silly. Its not the first-boy-you-ever-kissed trope. Its the 'first love' trope. They say you never forget your first love and theyre who youre meant to be with. But believe me, I'd be more than happy for Lari and Elias to be over. The chemistry will always be there, but while I wouldnt say Lari's grown any in maturity or that we know who Elias is now that he's just returned, there's enough distance now to just keep them apart. They havent even been thinking about each other. Elias wants to be with his family, not Lari. His line about having gone to Brussels to forget the past ("And I did."), was delicious to hear. He's not thinking about Lari anymore. And maybe Lari should get out of town for awhile himself. It did Elias a world of good, and Ilja will be fine. With what money though, I have no idea. I hope he's at the bus station because he can afford a ticket. And while I fast forward Kalle scenes, I caught the end, and his campy crying made me chuckle. I had been wishing that Elias wouldnt come back pining for his ex, and Im so relieved and excited. But it does make me wonder now how the show's going to force them back together, because they obviously will somehow. Maybe Lari sees how radiant Elias is now and typically thinks the grass is gonna be greener with him since Lari's life is a mess. But all I see in my head is Elias looking like he dodged a bullet when he finds out about the baby and the engagement. Agreed! I just can't see how they could be back together after Lari shutting Elias down the last time. And I don't want them to do it either. |

They should just focus on getting Elias back into the thick of the show again with a good storyline. Whether Lari's around or not should be irrelevant.
They could bring in another gay character thats connected somehow to any of his immediate family's drama to keep his romantic life interesting.

Nice to see everyone putting the blame where it belongs: on Lari. Even though he's been put in a tight spot by Kalle's mom, he never handles situations the way he should.
And Elias seems so done with Lari. Im pleasantly surprised by the writing, because not only does Elias remember being rejected numerous times, but he has compassion for and is commiserating with Kalle.
Its too bad theyre going to have to ruin him all over again in order to reunite him and Lari. He and Kalle would probably be far better off if Lari never even came back lol.

I'm not sure I would say Elias is "so over" Lari. The way he was thoroughly distracted when Oliver wanted to play was ... deja vu. He's done that kind of thing many times before. Hasn't that historically always meant he was still hung up on the guy? I'm not convinced he's pining for Lari by any means, but it is a pattern with him.
I did like that he went to talk with Kalle.
It makes total sense for everyone (except Katariina) to blame Lari. He left Kalle on their wedding day. Who else would they blame?

Elias has a "tick" of getting distant and internal and spaced-out when he's got anything weighing on his mind. He's done the same distracted faraway thing when he's mixed up in whatever drama his family has going on.
And what I was saying was despite the fact Katariina's the villain, Lari's still to blame too because he always makes the situation worse.

There's not a jealous or selfish bone in Elias' body at all, and its such a nostalgic thing to behold. How he's been with Kalle has made for such an endeared feeling, I dont even know whats wrong with me. Because I hate Kalle. It seemed worrying, how the show was going to be able to have these characters coexist after the final resolution to this heinous triangle, but I think it could work out now, but again, all because of the reason that Elias feels so progressed.
He's so bright and new, all I want is new everything for him. New love.

I wonder if that "something small" Elias admitted to in Brussels will be the next obstacle. I could see whatever guy he dated showing up right when Lari returns or right when he realizes he wants Elias again *eyeroll*.

Wait ... her name is Kristiina? Why did I think (all this time) that it was Katariina? Oops  Anyway, Lari is back and the first thing he does is crash the wedding. Huh. I am curious how it will play out. I'm guessing he just wants to hurt Kristiina, and I really don't blame him for that (frankly, she deserves it the way she's behaved). Unfortunately some others will probably also be hurt in the process. I'd like to think that he considered the consequences of confronting her like this, but I'm guessing the show won't bother to say anything about it. It really would have been nice to see Lari dealing with the consequences of his decisions before deciding to come back, but it doesn't look like the show wanted to tell that story.  Anyway, I'm glad he's back. If only because I hate when characters go off screen for extended periods of time. The storyline has already stagnated too much. Hopefully it'll pick up the pace again. |

The last thing they said to each other, was Lari told Elias he didnt love him and wanted to be with Kalle.
I really do have such a hard time wrapping my head around Elias wanting to be supportive about the whole thing. He's a better person than me, because I would never want to see Lari again if I were him. Id be wishing him the very worst.
And having this clip end the way it does is gross too, because the time to try and play like Lari and Elias are still a supercouple has come and gone. Elias gets nothing out of still be associated with Lari anymore, so they should just stop. He just looks pathetic "chasing after" a guy that explicitly rejected him and now has a child from an affair with one cast member, and has another major love interest in another (Kalle). Elias deserves his own focus again.
I dont necessarily want to see Miska again, but I need for Elias to have a storyline again where he's moving on.

What I don't like about this whole Elias/Lari story line is how the character of Elias was ruined in order to make Lari more palatable. The fact that the writers had to ruin one character in order to make another character more likable speaks to just how poorly Lari as a character was written in the first place. It also speaks to lazy writers and writing. The thing is it's a very soapy thing to do and I've never liked it. If a character cannot stand on their own without the benefit of sacrificing another character, than perhaps that character should be gone. I would not miss Lari one damn bit. Especially if that meant Elias wasn't left to clean up after him all the time.
