Well, the official website just says Coming Soon, but Wikipedia says January 17th, so take with a pinch of salt. However, I will point out that the Wikipedia page was quickly updated to reflect the new title BEFORE Telemundo updated their official website. I actually thought the change to the Wikipedia page was shady until I saw it officially confirmed. So if Wikipedia is to be believed, the first of 130 episodes will premiere on Jan. 17 and run every weekday with English captions.

Thanks for the translation, Blake! So I guess the second guy is maybe the gay guy? I hope he is... he's cute!

Thanks, overtherainbow, for the video, and Blake for the translation. There's another video (I don't know how to embed so I'm just pasting the link below) that doesn't seem to be a promo but more like a rough cut of scenes filmed. I think the last scene in this vid is of our gay character, but I'm not entirely sure. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGMQcHpHdnsAccording to Wikipedia, the gay character is named Alejandro Portillo and played by Kevin Aponte, a 21-year-old Puerto Rican actor-model. The guy Alejandro has a crush on, Sebastian, is played by Alex Hernandex.

I liked FOQ because Fer was basically openly gay from the start, but it seems like this guy is in denial/in the closet. I know I shouldn't have expected anything else.. this is a telenovela, and it will probably be coming out 101. I still wanted them to make some progress on the issue, being daring and have him as openly gay since the start. Telemundo has made a lot of progress lately in their portrayal of gay characters, still.. not enough obviously. I appreciate them adding a gay character, and that he's even gay in the promos is a good sign, still.. he's closeted from the start, and it's SO cliché! I feared this when I heard the new title for this show. I just knew it would be over the top soapy typical revelations, like NRPP was. Everything was just a big revelation, storyline after storyline, way over the top. Again, I know it's a telenovela, but I hoped they would have a middle ground between the over the top stuff from novelas and a realistic drama like FOQ was, but obviously not. Sigh.. I know it hasn't started yet, and I know I shouldn't complain because well.. it hasn't started yet, lol. It might positively surprise me, never know.. though I kinda doubt it. I'm not exactly holding my breath. It will probably be your typical coming out 101, but I'll still watch, because the gay guy is cute. lol.. it will probably annoy me and I'll probably complain if it ends up being too cliché, but I'll still watch, because I can't help myself I'm going through withdrawals here, I haven't watched a gay storyline that really caught my attention since FOQ ended, so it will be nice to see a gay storyline again, and the gay character is really cute, that is if he's really gay.. I'm not so sure after that video I saw, but anyway.. the possibly gay character does kinda remind me of Fer, he is cute, but not drop dead gorgeous, kinda shy, kinda awkward, just like Fer was. So yeah.. I'll probably end up watching this, and probably watch it until the end no matter how much it sucks.. I hope it will be better than what I think, and again.. you never know. Anyway, sorry for my rant. Just had to get that off my chest. Thanks for posting link to the video, Justinate. You can embed like this: [ Youtube ]copy code after the "watch?v=" in the youtube link and paste it here[ /Youtube ] ps: remove the spaces in the brackets
Here it is:

Thanks for the embedding info, overtherainbow. Yeah, it does appear like Alejandro will be further inside the closet than Fer was. But Fer wasn't exactly out either at the beginning, from what I recall. There were rumours circulating (between Gorka and Cabano) about his sexuality; that's why he felt the need to make out with a girl in one of the first episodes. If you recall the girl in question was throwing herself at him and he eventually took her up on her offer after initially being repulsed by her. (Only several episodes later did he come out to Julio and then his other friends and his parents.) And if you watch the clip with Alejandro, it's obvious the girl is throwing herself at him and he's not entirely comfortable either. But I admit I don't see an audience in that pool, so I don't know who he's playing to. I just hope that they will introduce a gay love interest for him, because his current crush, Sebastian, appears to be loudly heterosexual (unless he's also in denial ... but if they follow the original FOQ, he will be more of a straight ally, like Julio was). In other news, they seem to be building up the official website for the show, but a lot of the features still say "muy pronto" (coming soon). msnlatino.telemundo.com/novelas/Relaciones_PeligrosasNo official start date yet, and Wikipedia* now just says January 2012. But apparently it will take over the time slot currently filled by "La Case de al Lado", which Wikipedia* has listed the last episode as airing on 30 December. * Take with grain of salt.

Thanks for the reply, justinate. I appreciate your view on it. And you're right, I guess Fer wasn't out by the very beginning. But he wasn't in complete denial either. He knew he was gay, he just kissed that girl because he was afraid to come out.. probably because many had already teased him about his sexuality. You're right when you said Alejandro didn't look totally into it. I guess he's just hiding behind a facade. I hope they won't prolong his coming out for too long though. But I have a feeling they will.. this is a soap after all, they'll probably have someone blackmail him, kinda like Gorka did with David. When it comes to Sebastian, my guess is that he's Julio. Aleandro's straight friend that he has a crush on, it fits right? But yeah.. I don't really picture him ending up with Sebastian either. I think (well.. hope) they will get him a love interest. One thing that worries me though is how they are going to do it. Will they have him comfortable with his sexuality from the start, or will he struggle with it? I hope for the first, but it will probably be the latter. He will probably be in complete denial from the start.. typical Telemundo. It will probably be coming out 101. If he knows he's gay from the start then why won't he come out? Why get a beard? Doesn't make sense, unless someone is blackmailing him or teasing him or something.. I have so many questions right now! lol. I will definitely watch. It should be interesting for sure And about Telemundo.. they have done some progress in their portrayal of gay characters these last few years, but trust me when I say that this storyline will probably have many clichés, and you have probably seen it all before, from other gay storylines. Hell, I will probably end up disappointed/annoyed at one point, but I'll probably continue watching, because the gay guy (well, I hope he's the gay character) is kinda cute, and I don't have many other storylines to follow right now. It will probably be just this and Days, so yeah.. it will be nice with a new storyline, even if it's not very revolutionary. I still think Telemundo has made some good progress. They NEVER had gay characters in novelas before, and if they did they were often stereotypical. The gay character in for example Mas Sabe was not just a gay character, defined by his sexuality, but someone that just happens to be gay, if that makes sense. They've had some complex gay characters in the past, so they are capable of making realistic gay characters. But on the other hand.. don't expect too much, it will probably take a few more years until they make a REALLY good storyline. I expect this storyline to be clichéd, but whatever. I'll still watch And about the date.. it'll probably not be before February/March. I think the promotion started a bit late for it to start as early as January. I think the date is pushed back, and that's why it says "January 2012" now, because that's when they think it will be. They probably don't have any more information, and just go with what they first heard. Don't get me wrong, I hope I'm wrong, and I would be thrilled if it started in January! I just don't think it's very likely, because they JUST started promoting it, so my guess is that the premiere date is pushed back.

New promo.. this explains it all!
He probably gets a boner while watching Sebastian and his hot body!
Can someone please translate? What is the girl saying when she's with Alejandro in the pool?
What is the guy saying at the end about Alejandro when he's holding up the condom?

Looks like I gotta get my closed captions ready for telemundo. I'm glad to hear that you will be watching it too! ;D Is the last guy bisexual though? Is he flirting with Alejandro? It certainly looks like it! I honestly can't wait to watch this. Yes, it will probably be soapy and over the top, this is a soap after all, but who cares? The gay guy is cute as hell, and so are most of the other guys.. they're all so extremely good looking! JUST WOW!

Oh, I think this show will be good in terms of eye candy. The scene with the guy spraying water all over himself is like some soft-porn fantasy. Not a fan of Kevin's hair in the original promo; he's hot with the wet hair in the pool. And the hot piece he's eyeing up is pretty nice, too. We need translations, stat - esp. for the trailer's last scene. I really hope someone will post Alejandro's scenes online because I won't be able to watch - at least it will come with Eng subtitles so less work for whoever's willing to do the uploads! Telemundo seems quite rigorous in enforcing its copyright, though.

She says: "now, why don't you kiss each other?" And the guy is just delivering condoms to everyone, including Alejandro, of course LMAO.. that chick is hilarious, at least she knows he's gay! Oh, well.. that's kinda stupid.. about the condoms I mean. Yeah, Alejandro is gay, but not all gays are sex maniacs, but at least the idiot says the same thing about the girls though, it's not just Alejandro.. so whatever. The guy handing out the condoms looks like a jerk anyway, a womanizer. I just wonder if he swings both ways? He seems like one of those guys who would f**k everything that moves, and it does look like he's kinda flirting with Alejandro in that clip, and Alejandro is smiling back. That's why I got confused and thought maybe he was bisexual? I guess it's too progressive for Telemundo though, a gay gay AND a bisexual? I doubt it! I guess it's more a dream than anything.. I would LOVE a bisexual male character, not many of those on tv, though yeah.. I guess it's not likely to happen in this soap. Oh, I think this show will be good in terms of eye candy. Ah, so the pool scene is actually adapted from the one in the original FOQ, where Cova kisses Fer and asks Julio to do the same. But it seems a little different here, because Alejandro is clearly revolted by her (and she doesn't seem as nice as Cova, more like a Mean Girl). And Sebastian seems shocked, like he didn't know Alejandro was gay (rather than in the original, where he's just taken aback).
The scene with Curly-Haired Guy handing out condoms - don't know what to make of it; before I found out what he was saying, I did think he was one of those sexually fluid people and it seemed promising that Alejandro was out. Is he just giving out the condoms or asking them to use it with him? (Side note: I don't think the scene was intended to portray gays as slutty. It's a start to even portray them as sexual beings! And hey, at least they're practising safe sex. By the way, do girls normally stock condoms? I thought that was the guy's job - after all, he's the one who uses it!)
I rather hope Sebastian will return Alejandro's affections, mainly because he's hot, but I doubt it. Have Telemundo ever shown gay men kissing? I'm not expecting a QAF-style sex scene but some kisisng would be nice. They seem intent on promoting this show as OMG!Scandalous so it would be pretty tame if they don't engage in some same-sex kissing (I know, it's sad that gay kisses are considered scandalous - obviously I don't, but others do).
Oh, and Alejandro/Kevin's hair - not a fan of bangs on guys, typically. I think it detracts from their faces, and Kevin possesses a very handsome one so it's a pity to obscure it (and those lovely eyes) with those silly bangs. That's just me though!

Telemundo has shown some openness in the past, although nothing than can be considered too controversial/raunchy ( nor even remotely ) Given the social segment targeted by the broadcaster (the Hispanic/Latino population living in the U.S., well known for its family values and its strong religious beliefs) I wouldn't expect anything too risque ...

I think it detracts from their faces, and Kevin possesses a very handsome one so it's a pity to obscure it (and those lovely eyes) with those silly bangs. That's just me though! OMG.. I feel so embarrassed right now, because I didn't even remember that scene. And I'm supposed to be a fan of the original FOQ! But you're right, of course, I remember it now. They will handle this storyline a bit differently it seems, I predicted a blackmail, or someone blabbing or something like that, and it seems like I wasn't so far from it. I mean.. the girl is either pissed off that he doesn't want her, or she knows he's gay, plays along, but is, like you say a mean girl, so she blabs anyway, because she thinks it's fun destroying people's life. I can totally picture it. And about the guy handing out condoms, how it looked to me at first was that he handed out condoms to the people he wanted to have sex with. It's the looks he gives them, it's almost like he's flirting, and they are flirting back. It didn't seem like just a casual "handing out condoms" to me. The look he gave seemed like it was more "I want sex with them" kinda thing, if you know what I mean. Maybe I misinterpret the scene, or maybe the scene came across differently than what it was supposed to, but again.. the first time I saw it I kinda figured the gay was bisexual, because it looked like he was kinda flirting with Alejandro the same way he was flirting with the girls. It didn't look like it was just handing out condoms to friends, it was more asking "do you want to have sex with me?" I would love it if he was bisexual, it's not many of them on tv. But I doubt this channel has the balls to portray a bisexual character, but again.. the series is supposed to be scandalous, so who knows? I would definitely be positively surprised if he was bisexual, maybe Alejandro can confide in him or something? But I'm not exactly holding my breath either, he's probably not going to end up bisexual. I am torn about Alejandro and Sebastian, yes, it would be hot to see them together and two friends falling in love is always sooo cute! But on the other hand.. I loved Julio's and Fer's friendship in the original version. I loved that they were JUST FRIENDS, if that makes sense. We don't see many great friendships on tv anymore, and this one was truly great, hmm.. I'd be fine either way I guess. But I want.. well expect, Sebastian to react badly at first and then come around, that's how it seemed like in the promo anyway. I want Sebastian to be there for him, maybe it won't happen right away (south america is more conservative than spain, so Sebastian's reaction would probably be realistic), but I hope he'll come around, after the initial shock. Telemundo has shown kissing before, even gays in bed kissing (not sex), just making out on a bed.. but still, it's progress. And this is supposed to be about teenagers and a realistic portrayal of them, and we all know how they are at that age, partying, having sex, taking drugs etc. I'm not expecting them to go as far as the Spanish version, maybe not showing gay sex (that said, the spanish version never showed fer and david having sex either, which pissed me off), but I hope they'll at least show Alejandro and boyfriend kissing. I think we can expect at least that considering they managed to have gays kissing in the past, and this is supposed to be more scandalous and controversial, so why not? I think (well.. at least hope) we can expect some kissing, because we have seen gay kissing on this channel in the past.

Thanks for the info, guys. There are a few more promos out for the show, but none featuring Alejandro (or Sebastian or the Possibly-Bi Guy). They seem to be slowly building content on the show's official website, but there's some technical issue with the links on the tab of their main page. A couple of the teacher characters have individual galleries full of photos but the only one I can find of Kevin is in the group gallery (he's photo no. 15): msnlatino.telemundo.com/novelas/Relaciones_Peligrosas/photo_gallery/2011-12/relaciones_peligrosas_1The blurb for the photo describes his character Alejandro Portillo "es noble confiable y buen compañero, es el buen consejero" which Google translates as "noble reliable and good partner, is a good counselor". Further along in the gallery (photo no. 19) is Alex Hernandez as Sebastian Aragon (finally a last name for him). He's described in the blurb as a model son, refined, restrained and polite. So hopefully this means no gay-bashing by him! And there is also, at no. 21, Diego Baron (played by Jonathan Freudman) who, unless I'm very much mistaken, is the Possibly-Bi Guy who offers Alejandro condoms and/or sex in the promo. Diego is described as "a sportsman to the end, a lovely guy and good friend". So maybe he's good enough a friend to, ahem, soothe Alejandro's heartbreak over Sebastian being straight ...

They're interesting, although I still think Alejandro seems like the character that I will like the most. Though there is quite a lot of eye candy in this novela that I'm sure I will like too ;D I don't know if there's something wrong with the tabs.. I think they're still working on the page, so that part of the website may not be finished yet. I think they're revealing it little by little. I expect the video part of the page to come last. Or there might be a glitch with the site, as you say.. who knows. I'm sure they will notice if after the holidays are over. He kinda reminds me of Fer.. shy, cute, nice. I think he'll be a good character! Many people are speculating, or rather, assuming, that Sebastian will be David, but I think they'll end up disappointed if they think that. I think Sebastian is Julio, Alejandro's straight best friend. We'll be lucky if he gets a boyfriend at all, and if he does, I doubt he'll be introduced until later. Maybe he won't even have a boyfriend, it's probably too risky for a conservative soap, I hope I'm wrong though. I would love Alejandro to get a love interest, but I'm not holding my breath. Haha.. the bold part made me laugh. You're hilarious! I would love it if he was bi, and would hook up with Alejandro. He looks like a sleaze, but he's good looking. I'm fine with him hooking up with Alejandro as long as he's not playing him, and as long as Alejandro knows what's going on. He could help Alejandro come to the realization that he's gay.. help him out of the closet so to say. He seems pretty confident. That is if he's really bi. It's more of a dream right now. I'm still not sure if the writers are bold enough to go there.. hmm. I guess we'll only have to wait and see BTW.. Kevin Aponte has a twitter account if someone is interested. I'm pretty sure it's his real one too, because he's posted pics, from the set too Here is his twitter: @kevinaponte_ Last but not least.. about the premiere date, I am still not sure.. first I am sure I read that it would start January 16th, but now I'm reading that it will start January 23rd. Hmm... I guess they still haven't decided the premiere date yet. Late January/early February is likely though.

Thanks for posting those new promos. They're interesting, although I still think Alejandro seems like the character that I will like the most. Though there is quite a lot of eye candy in this novela that I'm sure I will like too ;D You're very welcome. I'm of the same opinion as you: Alejandro is the main draw for me, with the eye candy coming in a close second - if the trailer is any indication the guys will take their shirts off quite often ... I was on the Telemundo site and somehow (accidentally, I swear!) found a clip from some other telenovela where a bossy woman was ordering a hunky guy to strip naked, and he obeyed (sadly the show used coy camera angles after he was down to his briefs). There is no doubt in my mind that the character of Alejandro is strongly inspired by Fer, which leads me to ... ... agree with this, too. Sebastian most likely is the Julio archetype - straight but supportive best friend. I gather from the trailer that the reveal of Alejandro's homosexuality might come as a surprise to him but I speculate that he will handle it well. Whether he will take on the matchmaker role for Alejandro or have a dead brother like Julio did, or a David-like friend, remains to be seen. I share your desire but am going to be a bit more hopeful (perhaps foolishly - time will tell). I know the show's audience is the Spanish-speaking community that is typically conservative, but this show is being marketed as something intended to shock. Of course there is no reason a gay relationship should be regarded as shocking in the USA, in this day and age, but there you have it. I don't doubt that any gay affection will be very tame (I hope they will allow a kiss or two, but maybe that's too hopeful) but I don't think they will be against giving Alejandro a boyfriend. If Telemundo was able to show two men in bed together, showing a (chaste) gay relationship is no biggie, especially when this show is supposed to be risque. Bisexual guys are really a rarity on television (especially American TV), and I don't know if that's going to change anytime soon. But then again, if they really want to break new ground and push boundaries with this show, they could have a bi guy. Diego seems to be a minor character (looks like Alejandro and Sebastian are minor, too - trailer hints that the major stories are about the thug student, the star-crossed lovers, and the teacher who's having an affair with her student). Or maybe they are just not advertising them since minor gay characters are more likely to fly under the radar of conservative hate groups - isn't there one very active one in Florida where this show is filmed? Anyway, I am crossing my fingers for Diego to be bi because that would be something semi-unique. Thanks for the link - some nice pictures there. I am excited but I still don't know how I'm going to watch this show. Telemundo seems pretty rigorous in clamping down on Youtube uploads of their content, and that is typically the easiest avenue for uploaders. Given the inclusion of English captions, this show is really ideal for upload/dissemination to a wider group with minimal effort by the uploader. So I really hope some kind (and technically-talented) soul will step up to the task! Please and thank you!

I realize I might have been a bit too pessimistic when I said we would be lucky if Alejandro got a boyfriend. As I see it now, you're right, Alejandro probably will get a boyfriend. They will probably not be too explicit though. I want to see some kisses, some affection. Anything more than that would be a bonus, a nice surprise, but I kinda doubt it will happen. I'm just happy as long as the gay couple is believable with their PDA, which means they at least should be allowed to kiss imo. Then again, you know.. the original FOQ never showed anything explicit with Fer and David either, which kinda pissed me off. I mean.. the scene where Yoli and Julio were having sex on the couch was fairly explicit, we got NOTHING like that with Fer and David I expect there to be a different portrayal between straight characters and gay characters in the new remake of FOQ, it's on a more conservative channel and Latin America is in general more conservative than Spain. The thing is.. I expected more from Spain, which is why I was so disappointed that we never got that scene between Fer and David. I'm not expecting a scene like that in RP, because I know they're more socially conservative. Of course I'd love it if they proved me wrong, but yeah.. kissing is a minimum, anything more than that is nice bonus imo. Is the possibly bi guy named Diego? Anyway, yeah.. I agree with you. I would LOVE it if he was bisexual, because it's not something you see very often on tv, a bisexual male character? WOW! That would be amazing! I can probably count bisexual male characters on tv on one hand, and they were all done HORRIBLY with only a few exceptions. I can't stand it when bisexual characters are bi in name only.. like them ONLY having relationships with women, and not men.. it's so hypocritical imo. But I'm getting off topic here.. I would love it if Diego was bi, but again, I'm not holding my breath. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. I want to say he isn't though, only so I don't get disappointed.. lol! It seems like Kevin has two Twitter accounts. I'm pretty sure they're both his, because he uploads pics of himself all the time. One of the accounts is just general stuff/personal, while the other is more connected to RP, and he often updates it with pics from the set and what's going on etc. I think it's worth following that too! Here is the other account: @kevinrptv I hope someone can upload it when it premieres. It's true that the channel is VERY strict with uploads, but hopefully someone will find a way around it, they could mirror it or upload it somewhere else. Honestly, I don't care if it's uploaded to Youtube or wherever, as long as I get to see it, and I hope it will have subtitles too! I bet someone will upload it when it starts. Gay storylines these days are not exactly common, so when there finally is a gay storyline, it usually gets a lot of attention, and lets face it.. Alejandro is CUTE AS HELL. I'm sure someone will upload it.. well, hopefully Right now though my wish is for two things: one, that we get to know the premiere date soon, and two, that they fix the website, so we can know more about the novela and the characters.

I don't know how accurate this is, but some guy reuploaded the trailer for RP on Youtube and in the description claims the premiere date is Monday, Jan. 23 at 10pm. I can't find any source for this info. However, allegedly, it will take over the timeslot of La Casa de al Lado, which (according to Wikipedia) is scheduled to end on Friday, Jan. 20. Also noteworthy is the lateness of the timeslot that's supposedly going to be taken over by RP - it was originally given to La Casa because of that show's high amount of violence. I think it's a bit strange to have a show about teens with an intended audience (I presume) of teens to be shown so late at night, but on the plus side, they may be able to include more risque material, especially with regards to the gay content. One can hope!

One can hope! I was JUST going to post that about the premiere date! lol Thanks for the info anyway I think the timeslot is exactly because of the risky material. This is good though. It means they can actually show stuff without getting too much of a backlash from viewers. And one of the promos even hinted to a father abusing his son. It' not your typical telenovela, that's for sure. I hope this means they can show a bit more of Alejandro and his gay storyline, even show some kissing and stuff.. maybe they'll even go further than that? One can only hope Besides.. I don't think 9/10 PM is too late for high school kids. I stayed up till at least 11 pm when I was in high school. I think the timeslot is basically perfect.. late enough so they can show controversial stuff without getting a backlash from viewers, and just in for high schoolers to watch it before going to bed

Yay! Thanks for the info; we were only one day off with the 23rd Jan date.
Now if only they would fix the official website - all those tabs for Photos, Videos, Characters, etc. are still reading muy pronto when the premiere is less than two weeks away!
