Soap Opera Digest: Will's first kiss with another guy!Source: daytimeroyaltyonline.com/single/?p=8706690&t=8648572The week on DAYS begins with Will walking in on a heated argument between Sami and Marlena, and Sami realizes that her mother may know her dirty secret. Will confirms to Sami that he told Marlena about her and EJ having sex. “Will is tired of his mom’s behavior,” shrugs his portayer. Both Marlena and Will urge Sami to tell the truth, but she’s afraid that it will jeopardize her marriage. Will blows up at Sami and charges that she’s not being fair to Rafe, making him believe he’s to blame for the problems in their marriage. Later, at the Brady Pub, Will confides his troubles to Sonny and reveals that he saw his mom having sex with EJ. Unbeknownst to both Will and Sonny, Rafe is standing nearby and overhears everything. Later, Sonny suggests that Will take a breather from his troubles. “Sonny and his friends invite Will to a party at a club at Horton Square, just so he can loosen up and have some fun,” previews Freddie Smith. When they arrive at the party, a drinking game is in progress. Will is invited to join in, but Sonny advises against it. “He reminds Will that he isn’t old enough to drink,” says Smith. Will insists he’ll be fine. When Sonny returns to another area of the club to talk with pals, Will begins downing shots. “After living with self-loathing and disgust over not being able to accept himself, compounded by everything else that is going on in Will’s life, he’s tightly wound,” Massey point out. “He’s drinking because he thinks it will make him feel less awkward.” But an inexperienced Will overdoes it and gets tipsy fast. “For Will, it’s liquid courage,” reasons the actor. Will focuses his attention on a friend of Sonny’s named Neil and pulls him in for a kiss. “Will allows himself to do something he would not normally do in a sober situation,” voices Massey. Meanwhile, Sonny returns to check on his friend. “He accidentally runs into Will and Neil kissing,” says Smith. Will spots Sonny and freaks out. “It’s one of those moments when Will wishes he could turn invisible,” offers Massey. Instead, Will simply bolts. Sonny runs after Will and reassures him that everything is okay. “Sonny has been there,” notes Smith. “He knows what Will is going through.” Will stammers that he doesn’t want to talk about it and flees. “Sonny doesn’t want to press it,” offers Smith. “When Will is ready he’ll talk about it.” Across town, Rafe is struggling to process what he overheard from Will and heads home, determined to confront his wife. Sami is stunned when Rafe reveals that he knows the truth, so she tries to explain what happened with her ex. “Basically, her only defense is that she was totally grief-stricken about Johnny being missing and didn’t know what she was doing,” recounts Galen Gering. “She was beside herself because she thought that Johnny was actually dead. Still, no matter what the circumstances, Rafe can’t comprehend how she could let herself get close to EJ again. The news has completely blindsided him. He’s angry and distraught. This is Rafe’s worst nightmare coming true.” Rafe storms out and Sami chases after him. Meanwhile, over at the DiMera mansion, EJ and Nicole are in a celebratory mood, confident that the recount will declare him Salem’s new mayor. EJ praises Nicole for her stealthy work behind the scenes and marvels that she managed to pull off a recount. “EJ is the man who Nicole has fallen for, and she wants to do everything she can to make him look good,” shares Arianne Zucker. EJ surprises her with a romantic picnic by the fireplace and says it’s in honor of their one-year wedding anniversary. “Nicole has been so busy with EJ’s campaign that she didn’t pay attention to it,” notes Zucker. Next, EJ drops to his knee, presents Nicole with a ring and proposes that he wants their marriage done right this time. “It’s the best thing ever for Nicole,” smiles Zucker. “What woman wouldn’t love to be courted in the way that EJ is romancing Nicole? She’s eating it up.” Their evening is interrupted, however, by a pounding at the door. Rafe busts in, with Sami close behind. Rafe lunges at EJ and is restrained by Sami and Nicole. “It’s a shock for Nicole because she has never seen Rafe this angry before,” observes Zucker. “Nicole definitely comes to EJ’s side, but there is also a part of her that is like, ‘Whoa, this guy is usually so calm and collected when it comes to handling EJ. Either he’s drunk or something big has happened.’ Nicole is smart enough to protect EJ, but she also wants to hear Rafe out. I’m pretty sure she has figured out what happened without the words even being spoken.” Rafe berates EJ for having sex with Sami, confirming Nicole’s suspicion. “Nicole is angry,” declares Zucker. “Part of it is that EJ slept with Sami, but Nicole has also asked EJ over and over to tell her the truth. She wanted them to start fresh. She basically said to EJ, ‘Get you demons out now. Let’s start completely new. If there is anything at all you want to tell me, this is a good time to do it.’ He chose not to tell her. I think that’s a bigger betrayal because EJ had an opportunity.” Furious with EJ, Nicole hurls the rings back at him and leaves. At Marlena and John’s townhouse, Marlena is surprised by a visit from her grandson, who is in a panic over kissing a guy. “Will is looking for Marlena to tell him that it’s okay,” Massey says. “Since Will still isn’t strong enough to say ’I kissed a guy, that means I’m gay,” he says to his grandmother, ‘I kissed a guy. Does that make me gay?’ Will really knows the answer, but he’s trying to get Marlena’s support in helping him make this transition to self-acceptance." Marlena is trying to calm Will when Sami arrives and accuses her of telling Rafe the truth.

Soap Opera Digest: Lucas is back!SOURCE: daytimeroyaltyonline.com/single/?p=8706685&t=8648569Bryan R. Dattilo makes his first appearance on February 29th when a crisis brings his much-missed alter ego back to Salem. “I’m anxious to see how many people tune in,” enthuses the actor. “I’m also anxious to see if myself. I hope that I won’t be too hard on myself, because I’m never happy with what I do. I always think I can do better.” Dattilo says he had no idea that DAYS had created a gay storyline for Lucas’s son, Will. “They were really secretive about telling me anything because they know I can’t keep quiet,” he laughs. “I think it’s a great issue to approach and convey to viewers. [My concern was that] the writers play it honestly, with Lucas being loving and supportive to his son, no matter what Will is going through. I was worried about [Lucas] being the bigot, or being the bad guy in the scenario, but the writers really stepped up and honored Lucas’s relationship with Will above anything. So that was really rewarding.” To play Lucas’s paternal bonds with both Will and daughter Allie, Dattilo draws on his real-life relationship with son Gabriel, 12. “No matter what, as I’ve grown up, my own life always seems to mirror Lucas’s. So, from the beginning, I’ve been playing real-life scenarios [that are similar] to Lucas. Having a child really gives you a broad understanding of what it is to be a parent, to be accepting and loving. I would love my son in real life, no matter what. I’m always going to be there for him. I think I can honestly play that with Chandler because that’s how I would be in real life.” Dattilo, who was last seen at Alice’s memorial service in June 2010, is thrilled about his comeback. “The fans were so vocal and adamant about me coming back, and my co-stars, as well,” he praises. “I don’t ever want to let anybody down, so I want to do the best job possible and make sure all the affection and support is warranted.” Dattilo is grateful for the warm welcome he’s already received. “It’s just made me realize that DAYS is where my home is, and not to take it for granted,” he shares, “and not think that the grass is greener somewhere else."

Soap Opera Weekly: Will's First Gay KissSource: daytimeroyaltyonline.com/single/?p=8707374&t=8648572This week, Will stumbles into his first gay kiss.
After Sonny listens to Will vent about family woes, he tries to brighten his pal's day. "Sonny and his friends are partying and he invites Will," previews Freddie Smith. "Will has been so uptight lately, so this is a chance for him to loosen up and have some fun." Chandler Massey adds, "Since Sonny has come back to Salem, he and Will have grown close as friends. In fact, Sonny has become his best friend."
Will accompanies Sonny to a club at the town square, where Sonny's pals have already assembled. Several of them are engaged in a drinking game and they invite Sonny and Will to join them. "Sonny doesn't accept the offer," notes Smith. But Will is eager to join the fun. "Sonny actually tries to talk Will out of it," Smith says. "He tells Will, 'You're not old enough to be drinking.' Will's attitude is, 'No, you wanted me to have fun, so that's what I'm going to do, have fun.'"
Sonny turns his attention to other friends, while Will gets carried away kicking back shots. "After living with self-loathing and self-disgust, and not being able to accept something about himself, compounded with all the stuff that is going on in his life, Will is tightly wound," voices Massey. "He gets a few drinks in him because it makes him feel less awkward in the situation."
Later, Will meets a handsome friend of Sonny's named Neil and strikes up a conversation with him. "Will has had too much to drink," notes Massey, "and he's starting to feel very relaxed."
Sonny touches base with Will and immediately senses there is a problem. "Sonny is being like the older brother for a minute," explains Smith. "He advises Will to calm down with the drinking, but Will is letting loose for the first time in a long while. He kind of goes crazy and gets real wasted." Will insists that he'll be fine and encourages Sonny to talk with his other friends.
Later, Will makes an aggressive move and kisses Neil. "It's like there is a break in the dam, and Will grabs this guy and pulls him in for a kiss. He allows himself to do something that he would not normally do in a sober situation, " details Massey. "Before Will realizes what he's doing, he sees Sonny. It's one of those moments when Will wishes he could turn invisible."
Will then runs away, "Sonny has been there before, he knows what it feels like," says Smith. "So he just wants to have Will's back. Sonny doesn't want to press too much, because he knows how it is. It just takes time. When Will is ready, he'll talk about it."
Later, Will shows up at Marlena's, still in turmoil about the kiss. "At this point, Will knows what he's feeling, but he doesn't want to accept it," says Massey. "He's looking for his grandmother to tell him that he's okay."

Soap Opera Weekly: Will To Marlena - I Think I'm GaySource: daytimeroyaltyonline.com/single/?p=8724557&t=8662123Lucas walks into Sonny's new coffee house and sees Will horsing around with Sonny. "It takes Lucas by surprise," previews Bryan Dattilo. "He doesn't really know what's going on. They're kind of joking around in a physical way." Lucas, who is aware that Sonny is gay, takes his son aside to quietly offer friendly advice. Dattilo shares, "Lucas says to Will, 'I don't know if you're aware of what you're doing, but people could take it the wrong way.'"
Will doesn't appreciate his dad's well-meaning advice and protests that he doesn't care what it looks like, they weren't doing anything inappropriate. Dattilo points out, "Lucas is more worried about how other people are going to perceive what Will is doing in public."
Kate arrives and overhears Lucas and Will talking. When Lucas leaves, Kate has a private chat of her own with her grandson. "Kate absolutely gets what is going on with Will," notes Koslow. "She approaches it from the perspective that this is something Will is struggling with. Her position is, 'I know, and it doesn't matter. The only thing that matter is that you are comfortable with yourself and love yourself, and let people into your life who support you.' Kate assures Will that she's there for him. She is the first person who is light with Will about all of it. she doesn't see it as a heavy thing. If anything, she can't wait to set Will up on a date!" smiles Koslow.
Unfortunately, Kate's good intentions backfire. Will is mortified and insists that his grandmother is wrong. When Kate tries to comfort Will, he rebuffs her and flees. He runs into Marlena, who calms him down. He finally admits to her that he thinks he might be gay. "Will feels safe with Marlena," points out Chandler Massey. "They have a special bond. He wants to hear from her that it's okay."

Soap Opera Weekly/Soap Opera Digest: Will tells Marlena he's gaySource: daytimeroyaltyonline.com/single/?p=8733734&t=8668200Summary- Marlena hears EJ issuing a strict order to Will. She defends Will, and then "Marlena and EJ speak privately about Will's situation and both agree that he needs room to be himself." Will is then alone with Marlena and asks her how he's supposed to get comfortable in his own skin when everyone is bothering him. Then he tells her he's gay.
- Deidre Hall says, "What I wanted to do as Marlena, and as the actress, was just to hold the space... I wanted the room to be a safe place, respectful and dignified, where Will could be and say whatever he had to get out of his body."
- Hall praises Marlene and Darrell for writing Marlena and Will's relationship so that it goes beyond the issue of his sexuality and includes comfortable moments between them, like playing Scrabble or Will just acting like a teen.
- After Will makes this admission to Marlena, he's not sure whom to tell next. Should he tell his friends or his parents? Hall says that "Marlena does not encourage Will to do anything else besides sit with the feelings and know that he's healthy, fine and perfectly wonderful as he is."
- Hall says that the story between Marlena and Will continues after these scenes. She says Will's story centered around the fact that you just wanted him to be okay, but the two then continue to have "fascinating" scenes and that their relationship deepens. "The next three months are the most spectacular that I've seen in ages. Life goes on after Will's revelation."
- Hall also praises Chandler Massey. She says that his "ability to express such profound turmoil takes my breath away".

Soap Opera Digest: Will tells Gabi he's gaySource: daytimeroyaltyonline.com/single/?p=8744813&t=8674241Gabi turns to Will for help in breaking up Chad and Melanie. “Gabi is very distracted by Chad,” Camila Banus points out. “After her and Will’s relationship ended, she felt bad about herself; she’s looking for validation.”
Will feels responsible for Gabi blaming herself and reveals that he’s gay. “There are a lot of emotions going on with Gabi,” explains Banus. “When Will tells her that he’s gay, it’s a surprise. But Gabi is mostly concerned about Will’s well-being. She asks if Will has told his mom. She also asks Will how he is doing. She sees Will as a friend and lets him know that she’s there for him if he ever needs to talk of wants help with telling his mom.”
Will appreciates Gabi’s kindness, but politely declines her request to help bust up Chad and Melanie. He advises Gabi that nothing good will come from tearing apart the romantic twosome. “Gabi has seen the interest that Chad has had in other girls,” offers Banus. “It’s the kind of interest that she wants him to have in her. She wishes someone wanted her the way that Chad has wanted Mia, Abigail, and Melanie.”
Gabi agrees to back off, but later it becomes alarmingly clear that she isn’t ending her obsession with Chad.
