Summer spoiler from SOD (highlight): Will tells Gabi he loves her and they have a special prom night.
This is horrible! Will telling Gabi he loves her is disgusting, and I hope to god that special prom night does not imply them having sex, but I bet it will.. This is awful I just wish the gay storyline would start already, but there's no spoilers yet about the gay storyline! By this pace it probably won't start until August, or in the worst case scenario: maybe they have changed their minds about doing a gay storyline.. I'm not so sure anymore

Boo! Maybe the new writers will be able to 86 this, but I doubt it. Highlight for my thoughts on the spoiler.
I hope they don't make her get pregnant or she will never go away. If they do go through with the deed she might even feign pregnancy to try to hold onto him. Yes, some guys do have sex with women to try to prove to themselves that they aren't gay, but it doesn't fit with this situation I don't think. Unless Jackson is going to seduce him away from her.[/sub]

At this rate there won't be a gay storyline at all. We know that probably this will be soap coming out 101, but come on, if Will stays virgin till now it would be very cliche make him sleep with his girlfriend just before coming out. In fact one of the good things of Luke's coming out on ATWT was that they never try that

I totally agree with what has been said here. Highlight to read: I really, really hope he won't sleep with Gabi. I heard that he'll get cold feet about sleeping with her, so I hope that's right. But these spoilers make it look like he's sleeping with her. Why now? He's 17/18, never had sex.. he waited this long because he DID NOT want to have sex with a woman, presumably. So WHY is he having sex with Gabi on prom night? It doesn't make any sense!
I also hope she won't end up pregnant, but knowing this soap, I have a feeling she will. Typical soap drama BS. The reason I stopped watching KISH was exactly because Fish slept with a woman before coming out and made her pregnant. I HATED that, and I mean HATED it with a passion. It just made it unwatchable for me. Yes, gay men have sex with women before coming out, and yes, some gay men do make women pregnant. Is it something I'd like to see though? Hell no! It is cliché, stupid and I hate Gabi and Will together. It'll only be worse if they sleep together and god forbid, Will makes her pregnant.
Anyway.. my point is that.. it's VERY possible they'll sleep together and she'll end up pregnant. I really, really, really hope I'm wrong though and that it won't happen. I hope Will backs out at the last minute, so we finally can start this gay storyline.. I've been waiting forever already. They need to start Will's coming out process ASAP!

It's hardly surprising (to me) that Will may have sex with Gabi before the gay coming out/couple storyline. What gay male soap story(US or worldwide) hasn't included a female? It's soap canon, at least in the beginning. Hopefully it won't be a long-term triangle story.

Well, I am disappointed that they seem to have decided to "go there" with this storyline. Just once, it would be nice if they didn't portray the gay guy sexing up his clueless girlfriend in order to hide his own sexuality. I did rather hope that Will would back out of it right before they do the deed (but not before they got Chandler Massey stripped down). I had imagined a lengthy scene where Will in his snug little briefs tries to explain to Gabi why he doesn't want to have sex with her.
The good news is that Will (and Gabi) get more screentime next week, that pertains (in it makes baby steps) to his coming-out s/l.
I hope the change in headwriter does not mean they will back down from this story; if anything I hope they will go full steam ahead. I guess if they wrote for Passions then they can't exactly be conservative. But since they wrote for Passions, they're not likely to be very talented either!

Well the writers on Passions had an "on the down low" gay storyline that was horribly done. I won't hold my breath but I will hope for the best.

NBC.com has previews at the start of every week. It states that Chad and Abigail share their first kiss. I do not like the direction this is going. Hopefully the new writers will catch onto this Chill "thang"...

Well, our boy (assuming the new writers don't back out of the gay Will story) was on today, talking with Gabi about Rafe/Sami.

Thanks for the heads up, Justinate. Though I won't be watching until the gay storyline starts. I certainly won't be watching him having sex with Gabi! Yuck, no thanks..

Yeah, yesterday Will/Gabi had a (mercifully offscreen) makeout session in the storage closet. Hopefully the writers were foreshadowing Will's emergence from the "closet". And although Afterelton reported that Freddie Smith is playing Jackson "Sonny" Kiriakis, it has been reported in the soap media that his character is "not who you expect it to be". Since everyone is expecting a son of Justin and Adrienne, it seems like that's not who Freddie will be playing after all. And while many people are taking the announcement of rewrites to indicate a possible axing of the gay s/l, it seems like that would be at odds with the new headwriters' promise to bring a "modern, contemporary" feel to the soap. I really hope one thing they will do is speed up the glacial pacing of the stories and dole out the airtime to the different actors and stories in a more balanced manner.

Yeah.. I'm pessimistic and say the gay storyline isn't happening anymore. I don't know.. we've been waiting and waiting, and no spoilers yet to the fact that Will is gay or his gay storyline, just more of the same with him and Gabi. The storyline should have started already, but it didn't...
I think it sucks if the new writers got rid of the storyline. But like I said.. I have a feeling they did, because it should have started by now. Everything is up in the air right now because of the new head writers, and the fact that Gabi and Will is still going strong and Will's supposed love interest may not be his love interest any more after all.. Bah, this sucks.. Will has been gay all along in my eyes. And the fact that they might scrap the storyline all together for various reasons (new headwriters, backlash from conservatuve viewers) is horrible! I have lost faith in Days right now.

Maybe, maybe not. I don't think there's a reason to believe the show is getting rid of the story until we hear something from them.
Freddie has been taping for about a month so the storyline would already be underway and in the can. I don't think it would be starting at this point (Ken Corday did say we wouldn't find out why Will is acting like he is for a long time; and Chandler said it would be a summer starting point), seems to me it wouldn't really get underway until his arrival. My guess is what Will doesn't understand why he feels the way he does and Sonny's coming to town puts it all into perspective.
As for the new writers, they wrote gay stories during their time on Passions so perhaps they won't be inclined to get rid of the gay story here. I honestly don't see why people would automatically assume they would.
I guess we'll have to see!

I'm going to link to Anthony's clip of yesterday's Will scenes (I don't know how to embed videos here, sorry!): www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnPBR8XZXSgI wouldn't write off this story just yet, either. I know I was one of those urging caution at the beginning, but the way I see it, this story has already been taping for a while now. The new writing team may have decided to rewrite 3 weeks' worth of episodes, but I don't think any of the rewritten episodes had been taped yet (and if they were, it would be minimal - none of the soaps really have the budget to reshoot so many episodes). From the initial spoilers, they implied a June starting point for this story ("Jumpin' June!" was the exact wording, IIRC). The episodes for June and July are already in the can, so whatever was written for those episodes, will very likely stay. Chandler Massey has obviously been given instructions to play Will as nervous about sleeping with Gabi, and not the sort of nervousness that comes with losing one's virginity. Just look at his expression at the end of the clip. DAYS moves very slowly (and I really hope/expect this pacing is one of the things the new writers will improve on; Passions was not exactly known for slow pacing!) and Will's story gets so little airtime that we can hardly expect him to be out and proud by the time Freddie Smith debuts. I do think that, as summer rolls around, they will give more focus to the teen stories and Will's should definitely be one of them. I am always wary of new headwriters, because new people at the helm usually means new directions for the stories. But I agree that Passions was hardly a conservative soap. If nothing else, the new headwriter's promise of "modern and contemporary" stories lends credence to a gay story. To sum up, I have been totally sucked in, in spite of my initial "must-be-cautious" outlook, due to all the hype, my desperation for a gay story on American daytime, and Chandler Massey's utter adorableness. I will be super-pissed if this doesn't materialize but at the moment I am inclined to believe it will. The (at least) next two months of story will proceed as written by Dena Higley. Chandler's interview at the beginning of April (when he revealed a gay story in the works) would coincide with the taping of episodes to air next month. Even in the (unlikely) event that the new writers cancel this story, at most they will cut the romance bit, which I assume would be starting around the time of the episodes they are rewriting; the coming-out story should have already started playing out by August. On the flipside, if we are (insanely) lucky, the rewrites are simply to get rid of Dena's lame, insipid romance and replace it with a scorching seduction with much kissing and tearing-off of clothes. (I know, I know: a guy can dream.) This story has received positive press in the soap media and the online fandom is mostly supportive (obviously, this does not represent all the viewers, only those that go online). The groundwork has been all laid out; a gay Will has been in the writers' mind for two years now, and Chandler has played up the gay subtext with Will since he started in the role. He is cute, willing to play gay and, to top it all off, he's just been nominated for a Daytime Emmy. It would be ridiculously stupid if the new headwriter axed practically the ONLY story that has garnered them positive hype in the last few months; a teen storyline at a time when teens are going to tune in, which has the groundwork all laid out, with a willing and Emmy-nominated actor (one of only two on their cast) in the main role.

You know I'm on the fence with this one. I'm hopeful they follow through with it, but I also know Days past track record and I wouldn't be surprised if this story isn't the one under going the supposed rewrites.
What I find most irritating about this is the whole high level secrecy they have with it, I mean really what do we know…absolutely nothing. Basically everything we've heard is rumour and speculation and not one comment from the actual show, even the spoilers are incredibly vague and ambiguous. I've also read on quite a few places that the character this Freddie Smith is playing may even be for Gabi. So who really knows, I wish they would say something one way or another.

phoenix, I agree with you. The latest spoiler is the one I'm having the most difficulty with, namely that "Gabi and Will are going to have a special prom night." And we all know what special means.. that they'll sleep together. I know gay guys sleep with women before they come out. I know it happens in real life. I know Will can still be gay. But I don't know.. I just have a bad feeling. I was hoping he wouldn't sleep with Gabi but change his mind just before it happened. Now Gabi will probably end up pregnant! sigh.. I expected it not to get this far.. I don't want Will to sleep with Gabi, but I know he will.
I would have been more optimistic about this storyline if we knew anything more.. but everything is so secretive. Also, I think we should have been given more hints by now, and that his storyline should have started already. at least hinted to him being gay, but it hasn't.. not yet anyway. Oh well.. I guess I'll give Days a bit more time. I'll see what happens in June since it apparently was going to all fold out in summer. But yeah, I'm getting more and more pessimistic by each passing week were nothing happens with Will on the gay front. I just can't help it.
I'm sorry, anthonyl and justinate. I would want nothing more than for you to be right and me to be wrong. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But like I said.. I'm not exactly holding my breath, because everything is up in the air at this point..

Well, Ken Corday did say in SOD that Will and Gabi do try and sleep together, but Will gets cold feet for reasons we'll find out. That has not happened yet. So unless something changed, he plans to have sex with her on Prom Night but is unable to go through with it.
It seems to me it's playing out exactly how it's supposed to. I think people are expecting something right away on screen, but Chandler said from the very beginning that it would be a summer storyline. So we wouldn't be seeing anything right away. I'm not asking anyone not to be pessimistic, not convince anyone to believe one thing or the other.
Look, I don't know if the show had ditched the story, but I don't see any reason to believe that's the case at this point.

I think I'd be slightly disappointed if they did actually go through with it, seems too cliché or something especially if it resulted in pregnancy
Speaking of the Prom Night anyone know when it will actually air, surely it must be soon, they couldn't string it out too long I would have thought?
But like you said, I guess we'll just have to see what happens over the next little while, I'm not expecting anything huge soon but I do hope too see something a bit more substantial on-screen than what's going on now.

I really hope they will not be dumb enough to go with a (highlight to read) pregnancy for Gabi/Will. If anything needs to be rewritten, it is this! Come on, DAYS already had a teen pregnancy s/l with Chad and Mia. And Will does not need a cockblock in the form of a baby. I would like to see gay parents, but not this way and not now. Will is only a teenager, for Christ's sake. Hopefully he will be smart enough to use protection if he does do the deed. Gabi seems a sensible sort; I imagine she would have come prepared even if Will is not!
I also wanted to mention that the pseudo-official start of summer is this coming Monday (Memorial Day). I did theorize the reason for the secrecy around this storyline is to avoid alerting the conservatives; you can just see the AFA issuing an APB for every "family-loving" individual in the country to boycott the show if the spoiler read "Will and his boyfriend make out".

Yeah, but the new spoiler says otherwise: "Will and Gabi are going to have a "special" prom night". I think special means they'll have sex for the first time. I think they're going to go through with it. Otherwise the spoiler would have read something like this instead: "Will gets cold feet when he and Gabi get intimate."
You see the difference? The new spoiler have me worried. And I certainly wouldn't be surprised if they actually will go through with it, or if they make Gabi pregnant. Yeah, it is out of character for them both.. they are usually very serious when it comes to stuff like this, and they are the most mature teenagers on the show. They're actually very mature for their age. So yeah.. I hope and think it's out of character for them both not to come prepared.. however, this is Days we're talking about. The show that just made the world famous opera singer Chloe, a hooker. I wouldn't put it pass them to make Gabi pregnant with this horrible writing we're currently seeing. However, I do hope I'm wrong. Hopefully Ken Corday is right and they'll stop before it ever goes that far.

Spoilers are supposed to be suggestive and vague, not literal. I think prom night could go either way.
