i just want sonny to have a bio kid (preferably a boy)that cant be taking away from him if and when the marriage is over i cant go through another soap relationship when the non dad gets punched in the face plus sonny has plenty of money for a surrogate as for the chad thing i just want someone thats on the show full time that will interact with sonny alot and good chemistry chad fits that and more i dont want sibling rivalry can we have one that gets along I guess an adopted kid could always be reclaimed by the bio parents, but if Will and Sonny were to adopt him together, in the event of a split, they would both have equal parental rights since it's not Will's bio child either. I agree that it's not fair to Sonny (or Zach Tinker, who is a great recast) that his husband is always off-screen and only drops by for the occasional, short flying visit. Like you, I would vastly prefer a full-time regular on the show as Sonny's love interest. But I would hate for them to break up a gay marriage again. I know it will be controversial, but I honestly think they should just recast Will. Even CM fans who gave the previous recast (Guy Wilson) such a hard time must recognize the current situation is unsustainable and unfair. While it might be nice to siblings that get along for a change, in the case of Sonny and Alex, it's well-established that the two of them have an antagonistic relationship. Alex was the only family member who gave Sonny a hard time when he came out as gay back when they were both teens. IMO, it's a shame they didn't make Xander Alex - that really was a no-brainer, he's the right age and is also a Kiriakis named Alexander, and it would've given a good reason for Victor and Justin to stand by him. (Victor loved his supposed only sibling, Alexander, after whom his eldest grandson Alex was named). Then, they could now cast RSW as Sonny's twin brothers Vic and Joey. I would LOVE to see all four of Justin's sons onscreen at the same time (we've not seen the twins since they were babies I think). It was so cool to see Steve and Kayla with all three of their kids on Beyond Salem 2. Of course, it's too bad Adrienne is gone but maybe Dr Rolf can bring her back from the dead. For once he would be doing a public service!

Days Of Our Lives has been canceled from NBC and will move to Peacock starting September 12,2022 Sadly I think this is the beginning of the end. I cannot see the show maintaining the audience numbers it had on the broadcast network (which were already the lowest among daytime soaps). There will almost certainly be significant budget cuts coming and I doubt it will remain a daily serial for much longer.

There will almost certainly be significant budget cuts coming and I doubt it will remain a daily serial for much longer. I 100% agree with you I don't think Peacock has the capability to produce 56 weeks (I think) of original episodes with that many actors/actress their is most certainly gonna have to be major budget cuts I also suspect that Peacock will also eventually cut down the number of weekly episodes from 5 days a week to 3 4 of were lucky. I also suspect that the actors/actress will have to take a major pay cut. Also, I see a lot of them being dropped to recurring status. I also believe that this also the beginning of the end of Days from my understanding (I could be wrong) Peacock is inserted in making Beyond Salem like a Primetime weekly series. I believe the move to Peacock was so that the writers could start to wrap up storylines and give the show a proper ending. I'm not surprised by NBC decision to cancel Days it has been rumored for the last 15 years (Ever since Passions was canceled) that NBC had been wanting to get out of the Soap Opera genre.

i hope they find a way to re sign zach tinker it would be sad to see him go loved him playing finn on y&r he is just so darn good looking its a shame of not enough shirtless scenes of him or underwear scenes
i know alex kiriakis is nice to look at in those scenes but doing it too much loses the appeal in my opinion

Glad they're keeping him on but recurring is disappointing.

Glad they're keeping him on but recurring is disappointing. I know I was disappointed, but according to insiders this was Zach's decision to go on recurring cause he wants to pursue other acting projects. But he wants to keep his job at Days so he can pay the bills.

I guess the gay presence on the show will be reduced to Leo. Just like Brad on GH - a single gay man without a love life (unless, in Leo's case, he's going to creep on straight men like Chad or Xander). Gay male representation on American daytime is back to its nadir.

Zach has been recurring on Fire Country on CBS. 5 episodes so far, but he became more prominent in the most recent episode. There is a lesbian character, but no real gay storyline. I will say Zach's character seems to be obsessed with another male firefighter, but I think it's more like Zach's character is going to end up being creepy and an arsonist. This is not spoilers, just a vibe I'm getting. If I'm wrong about Zach's character there is potential that he becomes more than recurring. ETA: I'm slow, apparently he is a series regular, and people had speculated about him leaving days because of the role. www.monstersandcritics.com/tv/soaps/is-zach-tinker-leaving-days-of-our-lives-as-sonny-kiriakis/

Out actor Peter Porte has reprised the role of Dimitri Von Leuschner from the Beyond Salem spin-off and has been revealed to be a DiMera, the son of Chad and EJ's half-sister Megan who had been presumed dead but, in true Days fashion, turns out to be alive and had her son during her absence. Dimitri is in line to receive a huge inheritance but only if he marries by the age of 40 - in a few months - and stays married for at least a year. There was some dialogue referring to Gwen Rizchech (Chad's sister-in-law and one-time lover) as his possible Lois Lane, and then in an adjoining scene Leo is snarkily referred to as Lois Lane. No spoilers, but scenes like this happen for a reason. Gwen and Leo are, of course, best friends, so what could be more soapy than them being torn over Dimitri's affections? IMO, a gay DiMera is long overdue.

All they do is throw men at Leo, who is such an awful character.

I know we can't get Will or Sonny back full-time (not with the same actors at any rate), but I don't understand why they won't bring Andrew back full-time (and Paul). Wayyy better than Leo. Even putting aside characterisation, any of them are more meaningful than Leo because they have ties to the core families.
I recommend watching the nice scenes on General Hospital yesterday where young teen Aiden Spencer - a very meaningful legacy character - told his mother that he had a crush on another boy. I don't really expect it to develop onscreen but what we did get were well-written and -acted scenes, and I was especially impressed they went there with a character of Aiden's heritage and age. He is Luke and Laura's grandson, and a great-grandson of Dr Steve and Audrey Hardy. Days, which also has gay legacy characters of similar caliber, instead chooses to focus on ... Leo.

Drake Hogestyn, who played John Black (initially Roman Brady) for nearly 4 decades, has passed away from pancreatic cancer just one day shy of his 71st birthday. He and Dr Marlena Evans were considered one of the defining soap supercouples of the 1980s and '90s.
Onscreen, he was depicted as a firm ally of the LGBTQ+ community, as the father of Paul Narita and step-grandfather of Will and Allie Horton. Offscreen, he was the father of Ben Hogestyn who played teen Dr Lucas Jones on GH during his coming-out (the role recently recast to Van Hansis).
