Overall, I thought that, apart from some tighter plotting - which was mandatory since it's a 5-part miniseries - and the umbrella storyline integrating the whole cast, Beyond Salem really wasn't that much different from the main show. The sets still looked incredibly cheap, there were glaring plot holes and poor acting abounded (the fight scenes were particularly cringe-worthy). As for the Alamainian Peacock being some kind of superweapon, this was clearly a throwback to the bad sci-fi plots of the '80s like GH's Ice Princess, where a gem was a key component of a weapon that could wipe out entire cities (in that case, by freezing them).
The Phoenix storyline was the most interesting to me. I thought Zach Tinker did a decent job taking over a role so closely identified with just one actor, who won an Emmy for it (which, personally, I'll never understand). Unfortunately, from what I see online, I don't think his portrayal was well-received by Freddie's fans, while the entire Phoenix s/l - especially the drag queen segment - was widely excoriated by the usual conservatives. I did think that Billy Flynn overplayed the gay panic. He has two gay best friends, I can understand a measure of discomfort at repeated come-ons from an unsavoury character like Leo, but not the deep horror and disgust he played it as.
I did like seeing Marlena and John in parental mode to Carrie, always great to see Charles Shaughnessy, and I did think Peter Porte had good chem with Lisa Rinna. It's a shame they made his character a wrong 'un, because it would've been nice to see him (as an out actor) on the main show playing a queer character. Maybe he can sweep poor Tripp off his feet once he gets dumped by Allie.

It's a shame they made his character a wrong 'un, because it would've been nice to see him (as an out actor) on the main show playing a queer character. Maybe he can sweep poor Tripp off his feet once he gets dumped by Allie. I thought the Phoenix storyline was the best storyline out of the whole series. As far as the sets were concerned I wasn't expecting to much to be honest since they weren't going on location but rather shooting the series at a studio in Los Angeles, but they could've put a little more effort into it. I liked the drag queen show I thought it was funny (and to me) that's what drag is all about having fun being over the top so I did enjoy that. I do agree that Billy Flynn overplayed the gay panic since both of Chad's best friends are gay and married to each other. I also enjoyed Greg Rikaart (Leo's) performance I thought Leo had some really funny moments so I enjoyed the comedic performance of Greg. I personally loved Zach Tinker as Sonny I think Zach understood the character. Zach and Chandler both have amazing chemistry together my favorite scenes were in the hotel suite when Sonny thought that Will was cheating on him I thought that was a good performance from Zach. Also the shower scene between Will and Sonny that was hot since both Chandler and Zach have terrific bodies. As far as Freddie's fans are concerned they are gonna have to accept the fact that Freddie has said that he is never returning to Days that he is done with Days. Plus Freddie and his wife don't even live in Los Angeles they live in Orlando Florida now. Plus, Freddie has also said that he's thinking about getting his real estate license. I will say that the last Wilson storyline that Freddie was part of I wasn't to thrilled with Freddie's performance. It seemed as though him and Chandler didn't have any chemistry together. That could be due to the fact they (Chandler & Freddie) found out they were let go from the show. So Freddie might of thought what the hell I don't care how my performance turns out. I will say that Wilson do still have a fan base cause every poll on Twitter that has been taking on who is your favorite couple from Beyond Salem Wilson has either come in first or either a very close first. I will also say that I have seen on Twitter it is a rumor that Zach and Chandler are returning to the main show. Again, just a rumor as nothing has been confirmed. I do know that both Zach and Chandler have both said they would both love to return to Days. Also, Zach has gotten good press from fans and soap journalist about his performance as Sonny. Chandler fans did the same thing to Guy Wilson when Guy took over the role of Will. I think it would be a waste for NBC to pass up the opportunity to not bring back Wilson if not a regular basis than on a recurring basis. Also on September 25, 2021 Zach and Lucas Adams (Tripp) will be doing a virtual Q & A

I've seen some comments from the Freddie's hardcore fans that don't like Zach and that's fine. However, they seem to be a minority opinion. Everywhere I've looked it's been overwhelmingly positive about Zach in the role. I've especially seen a ton of comments from people who were NEVER fans of the couple before saying, this is a version of WilSon they'd be interested in. This might sounds a little mean, but outside of Freddie's hardcore fans, I don't think very many people will miss him.

I liked Zach and I believe the chemistry between him and Chandler. Like I said before, I don't really see him as Sonny yet, but if he joins the mothership then it's only a matter of time before my brain rewires itself.
Not to knock Freddie at all, but that one scene where Sonny got emotional when thought Will was cheating on him was the most emotion I've ever seen from Sonny, including the time Will actually cheated. Including at Will's funeral!

Freddie Smith (Ex-Sonny) and his wife Alyssa spoke on their podcast about Beyond Salem and Zach Tinker as Sonny again these are the parts I found very interesting and I will try and post the video. It is really good please check it out Freddie gave some really good insight into a lot of things. Freddie said that he really did enjoy the series although he said he really couldn't tell the difference between Beyond Salem and NBC's version of Days in terms of sets and stuff. He said he liked the location shoots like of Phoenix exterior shots like the desert. He said that he wishes that Days would do that on NBC like show the Kiriakis mansion then you cut into like the living area. He said of Zach. He thought Zach was the perfect choice for Sonny although he does admit that he was jealous of Zach he goes on to explain Zach got to play the angry version of Sonny that I always wanted to play but was told to tone it down because that's not who Sonny is. He gave an example when Sonny thought that Will was cheating on him in the hotel suite and punched Leo. If I would've done that on NBC I would've got notes from the directors or like a producer on set would give me a note and say that's not how Sonny is please tone it down. He said then usually we would have to go back and re-shoot the scene. He said it just got to the point that he just played Sonny the way he thought they wanted him to play him. So, that he wouldn't have to re-shoot the scene again. He said when Paul and Sonny were about to get married and Ben came in to tell them Will was still alive. How you seen Zach play that scene is exactly how I played that scene. But I was told from our director at the time that I needed to tone it down and we had to end up re-shooting the scene again. Freddie says that he believes that Peacock might make Beyond Salem into a regular series if the numbers are good with viewer ship until Days moves from NBC to Peacock in about 2-3 years. He said cause that's initially the plan to move Days from NBC to Peacock once their current contract expires with NBC. He said but it won't happen anytime soon cause he said Peacock and NBC has to figure out who's gonna pay for it are they gonna spilt the cost? Which characters do involve, or do you bring in a whole new cast? Do you make it a 5 days a week series or a like a primetime show with one new episode a week? There is a lot of kinks to work out. But he does believe that Peacock was testing the waters with Beyond Salem. He also spoke about Wilson coming back. He said that he does believe that Wilson will return to Days eventually he said that the Wilson storyline is far to important to just drop. He said Wilson do still have a fanbase and believes they were being tested as well to see how fans would respond to Zach's portrayal as Sonny. Again, it was a really good podcast like I said when you get the time please check it out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2V4RSVYgoU&t=2046s

Yesterday, Zac did his Q&A and according to the rules from what I was told cause I didn't get to see it cause you had to pay so I didn't get to watch it. But according to the rules you couldn't film it or take screen shoots but luckily I have someone on Twitter that I follow that did join and this is what they told me.
Zach said that he got the part of Sonny at the beginning of April he said originally he wasn't gonna be playing Sonny but a love interest for Sonny. Zach said that he was told that Freddie and Chandler were gonna reprise their roles as Sonny and Will. He said he received a call from his agent about a week later saying that they (Days) had decided to scarp the character he was gonna be playing and that Zach now would be playing Sonny cause Freddie had decided at that point to leave the role.
Zach said that he never watched any of Freddie's scenes as Sonny. He said "I made the conscious decision not to watch anything that Freddie had done because I wanted to make the character my own. When I got the role as Finn on Y&R as Finn I mistakenly watched Max Ehrich stuff before hand and I tried to emulate his acting style mannerisms and everything and it just didn't work I was panned by the fans and critics."
He said he did feel a little bit of pressure taking over the role of Sonny more so than taking over the role of Finn. He said. "I'll be honest I felt more pressure taking the role of Sonny than I did taking the role of Finn simply because Sonny is more of a iconic character than Finn is plus Will & Sonny on top of that the love story between the two of them and Will also being an icon character, yeah there was a little pressure.
A fan did ask him if him and Chandler had been contacted about returning to Days yet. He said. "I can't answer that because Days is very tight-lipped about that stuff.

There is a new Peacock only Days Christmas movie with Chandler and Zach. I haven't seen it, because it requires peacock premium. If someone is able to watch let us know if it's worth paying for a one month subscription!
Days of our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas follows Will Horton as he writes a screenplay before his Christmas Eve deadline. Using everyone’s favorite feel-good holiday movie tropes, he creates a festive story based on his family and friends in Salem -- but with several twists and turns, you’ll never see coming.
They also did an interview about the movie. I haven't watched it so I can't say if it has spoilers or not.

I've not been able to watch this anywhere but I did read the recap and it sounds like it could be fun. I do call foul on AU Xander still not kissing Leo on the lips. Would've liked to see WilSon join the final scene but I definitely enjoyed Lucas Adams.

I've watched this and I have to say I LOVED IT! It was heart warming at times and quite sexy too at times I might add. I don't want too give too much away but the stripping scene with the Santa's very sexy! I have to admit and this is just my opinion I thought it was better than Beyond Salem.
Zach Tinker was absolutely amazing he really does understand the character of Sonny he was very loving and caring him and Chandler have amazing chemistry together! All in all I would give it a 10/10!!!!!

I want to catch up on Will and Sonny but couldn't find a source, if I remember last time Will got his memory back. I used to watch from PinkySwearWarehouse (Facebook) but seems like it's closed. Does anyone know where can I watch their storyline? (PinkyDaily3 is open but doesn't have the full storyline)

Days of Our Lives has an active gay story on the main show - and it's not WilSon.
Chloe Lane's father Dr Craig Wesley (who is married to her mother Nancy) admitted to her that he has developed feelings for another man.
Craig is played by out actor Kevin Spirtas. As far as I'm aware he (and the actress playing his wife) are not on contract, so this is just a guest stint.

I follow a Wilson fan page on Facebook and one of the moderators has said that she got an exclusive that Days has upgraded Zach from recurring to contract. She hopefully it will be confirmed next week. She also stressed that there is a possibility that Zach will remain on recurring. She also said that Chandler has turned down returning full time as he has relocated back to Atlanta and has a new job there, and will only continue with Days as long as he can remain on a recurring contract.

Zach Tinker gave an interview about his return as Sonny and now playing him on NBC instead of specials. The reason why I'm putting this interview here cause he didn't give out any spoilers.
Zach said that he's very shocked at returning to the mothership (NBC Days) cause he thought that after Beyond Salem he was done with Days cause he was told that it would only be a one time thing. Than about month later he said he got an e-mail from his agent saying Days wanted him to return for A Very Salem Christmas. Another reason why Zach was so shocked about returning is because his audition for Sonny was very rushed, he explained that when he auditioned for Beyond Salem that he was auditioning for a love interest for Sonny not the role of Sonny specifically. Cause he was told that Freddie and Chandler were returning he said that about a week before they were scheduled to start filming Beyond Salem he got a call from his agent saying that Freddie had pulled out and that Days producers wanted him to audition for Sonny now so they sent him the script and he audition and got the role of Sonny.
Zach explained that he was very nervous about taking on the role of Sonny cause he didn't really understand how to play Sonny cause he only had about a week to read the scripts for Beyond Salem and he said he didn't really understand Sonny's back story. He said Chandler really helped him out with the Wilson backstory and Sonny's character and backstory as well. He said "Chandler is the nicest duded ever we went for lunch a couple of days before we were scheduled to start filming for Beyond Salem and he filled me on everything from Wilsons backstory to Sonny's backstory he really, really, really helped me out."
Another reason why Zach was nervous was because Sonny is such an iconic character and Freddie left some very big shoes to fill that he was sure that the fans and especially the Wilson fan base was gonna hate him. "I was for sure counting on the fans and especially Wilson fans to hate upon me which is understandable cause Freddie played him for 11 years and won an Emmy as well Freddie left some very big shoes to fill. But once I saw his video congratulating so to get his approval really meant a lot to me." He explains that he never watched any of Freddie's stuff as Sonny. "No, I never watched any of Freddie's stuff before and there is a reason why I choose not to when I got the role of Fin on Y&R I watched Max Ehrich stuff and I tried to emulate everything he did and I was just panned by the critics and the fans as well and I remember Chandler told me at the lunch we had. He said. "You have to make Sonny your own now you can't duplicate what Freddie has done Sonny is yours now make him your own."
He said that him and Chandler have been filming since September of 2021 he said they were both shocked to even be asked to return but are so happy. He said that Chandler fly's in a couple days a week to film he said. "Chandler actually lives in Atlanta now and actually has a accounting job there but he works there 3 days week and even from his home even. Chandler fly's in a few times a month to film his scenes and it's great it works out really well we've been doing this now for 6 months, and it's working out great."
Zach was asked to return to the main show in September he said. "Me and Chandler were asked to come back to the main show in September about week after we finished filming "A Very Salem Christmas" actually. He said it took about 5 days to film for "A Very Salem Christmas" and then a couple of days after we filmed again I got a call from my agent saying Days wants you and Chandler to return to the mothership, so I jumped at the offer. We had a week off and we started filming the last week of September."
Zach said it was hard to keep the secret for 6 months. "Oh! My God yes, It was hard to keep the secret I would see all over Twitter, Instagram, Facebook we want Wilson! It was so very touching and I wanted to scream out were coming back but then I would've lost my job."
Zach credits the fans for bringing back Wilson. "Honestly, it's the fans that have brought us back and I'm so grateful and I'm so grateful that the fans and Wilson fans especially have welcomed me with open arms it means the world to me. So Thank You Guys!"

Of course it would be very soapy but I can't see it happening. They should've really had Alex come in as a bi guy angling for the same guy as Sonny. As for a second kid, it won't happen either as long as they let Ari dictate to them. That girl is so freaking spoiled. I know of zero parents who ask their existing child's permission to have another. I'm fine with it being an adopted child, but please let it be a boy this time.
