I dont remember them saying but according to the Profile, he is Philip Here are the yahoo profiles, quite empty and emptyAccording to the N's website Riley is a Sr. So Subtract 3 years and that's when Riley had his first gay experience with another guy (freshman/sophomore year) . And apparently he used to have some baby fat on him[/endspoiler] how did you find the profiles??  I can't wait for degrassi goes hollywood. I also like the older characters better ie. paige, ellie, marco If you look at their usernames they were using during the episode, that's the name that yahoo uses to create yahoo profiles. And with FLICKR I think I recognized the site that it was on and tried using the same name, I think it was awhile ago so I dont fully remember LOL. |

I heard Riley will get caught while j/off to some gay porn or something, and his dad will see it.. I don't know if it's true or not though..

I love Riley's promo with his Frauden slip, "I can be straight, no I mean I am straight." If Riley not going to be with Peter, I hope he does get a love interested later on.

I just hope they give Riley more screentime.
He was only featured on 2 episodes last season which is ridiculous.
I love the actor and I like his storyline but it just felt like Degrassi didn't know where to go with him or wasn't investing him enough.
They really need to let the college kids go. I love Seasons 1 -6 and all those characters but it's too much to try to deal with Manny and Emma, etal in college and deal with the new kids who are still in high school when there is so little connect between them.

Well, the new season began tonight (In Canada, at least). I just did a quick scan through of the episode, since I don't really love the series. Riley appeared a few times, but not very much. He was just supporting his friend Peter, who tried meth, become an addict, and got clean, all in one episode. lol Oh, Degrassi. Anyway, essentially there was nothing interesting with Riley.  |

Well, the new season began tonight (In Canada, at least). I just did a quick scan through of the episode, since I don't really love the series. Riley appeared a few times, but not very much. He was just supporting his friend Peter, who tried meth, become an addict, and got clean, all in one episode. lol Oh, Degrassi. Anyway, essentially there was nothing interesting with Riley. Sad to hear about that. I really loved the two episodes Riley was in last season. I hope they give him more air time and a decent story line. |

I liked Riley last season, but i'm not thrilled with the spoilers, i like all the angst and the struggle, but i think it's time he start to move on

Well, I just watched the latest 2 episodes, and didn't spot Riley at all. Admittedly I pretty much watched the whole show on FF, but if he was ever shown, it was a blink and you missed him kind of moment.
Ah well. His two episodes should be coming up in two weeks, I believe, so hopefully we get some real progress. But, judging by the episode descriptions, it looks like a lot of same old, same old. Sigh.

The two latest episodes aired Sunday, and the B plot of one of the episodes, entitled "Shoot to Thrill," was all about Riley! Yay!! I believe his two episodes are airing this week, so this is probably the set up for that. Anyway, it's all about Riley trying to date some girl, as he continues his quest to prove he's not gay. While the girl appears to like Riley, she also is in possession of some finely tuned gaydar, and has her suspicions about him. I would guess that she figures it all out in the next two episodes. We'll see. There's also a brief appearance by the guy Riley hooked up with last season. I've put the scenes from this episode, as unmarked as possible, on my YouTube account. I remember looking for the clips, but couldn't find anything, so either they were taking down or they were deleted. I have no idea.. Thanks for the clip tubedout! It should be fine as long as you don't make it too obvious that it's from Degrassi. It also helps to put it in a different category, the channels always check entertainment, so maybe like "people and blogs" would make it less noticable, just a tip  |

Riley only had two episodes that dealt with him being gay otherwise, he was just in the background a lot.
He has some screen time in "Fight the Power" where he first teased and taunted Jane for wanting to be on the football team then he helped her later on. Nothing about him being gay or really much at all in that episode.
Episodes About Riley from Season 8
"The Man with Two Hearts, 8.5" - Where's crushing on Peter and kisses him while teaching him to box then they argue and become friends again. He admits to Peter that he might be gay and hates it, etc
"Bad Medicine, 8.10" - The episode where he's taking steroids and tries to date Anya, get's into a fight with Sav and makes out with the boy with the pretty bangs in the woods (who he knew from camp). This same boy showed up in the pool room in the latest episode.
That's about it for Riley in Season 8. Mostly he was just in the background. This is very common on Degrassi to have some character hardly show up during their first season then they get more attention the next season.
Who really knows what Season 9 will look like for Riley. Hopefully more screen time as be becomes more integrated into the show.

Riley's two episodes aired tonight (technically last night). And yep - hot lifeguard was in them.
I'll try to clip the scenes and put them up later today.
As for the storyline - eh. Imo, it was a lot like rehashing Riley's confusion from last season. A marginally more satisfying ending, but you could pretty much hear him - and the gay storyline - being pushed right to the backburner for the foreseeable future.

When I look back on it, from the time Marco first thought he himself might be gay (long before he started dating Ellie) to the next season when he finally came out to Spinner, there was a whole long stretch of time.
So it's not that different with Riley.
The characters are very different but the mount of time it's taking the show to deal with Riley is about the same.
I think that's crap actually. I think the whole point of having Marco and Dylan and the other two gay male characters (whose names escape me right now) is to progress the show forward.
One season of Riley struggling to come out was enough for me.
Also, the cat is almost out of the bag because he can't even fake it so any girl he tries to day Anya, Fiona is going to know immediately that he' s gay.
Peter knows as well (and really the different between boys and girls is drastic here because Marco's female friend have always tried to get him to deal with his issues, Peter just basically ignores it and is just letting Riley dig himself deeper into his whole of self hate)
I never liked Peter. I know he can't force Riley to come out but he should be doing more to help him deal with it.
The difference is that Marco was friends with lots of other characters so he had tons of screen time long before he came out.
Riley doesn't seem to be as well integrated into the show.

Yeah, I'm also disappointed with how much this storyline echoes the slow and stilted pace of Marco's coming out. Degrassi is supposed to be about telling different stories. But it seems when it comes to gay storylines, they just rehash the same stuff. I definitely feel they dropped the ball here. I am more sympathetic to Peter, though. I think his lack of encouragement is more just a lack of screen time for Riley. In these episodes, Peter brings up Riley's sexuality a lot, just like he did in that short Riley bit from a few weeks ago. I think Peter is just in a different position than Marco's friends were. Riley is a far more angry guy. Frankly, with all of Riley's violent outbursts, I think the fact that Peter continues to force the issue is pretty impressive. I also don't think any of the characters are as well integrated as they used to be. Admittedly, I've never been a loyal Degrassi watcher, but I feel like back in Marco's seasons, all the characters were friends or interacted in some way. Now when I watch the show, everyone seems separated into their groups for their storylines, and no one really interacts. Anyway, here are the download links.
