And that's exactly the problem with gay couples in soaps, they want to be treated like any other couples in terms of screen time and affection, but they don't want them to be treated like the other in all the rest. The result is always a borefest and the couple being backburned

Sorry, but i can't be that optimistic when all their fights get solved in the next episode. I think it got something to do with the lack of gay characters on soaps (their gay friends are long gone), so every couple is a supercouple, but not in the traditional sense, but in the sense that they are untouchable. And the marriage only makes the things worse, because i highly doubt they'll never face a serious treat to their relationship. They are the first gay married couple on an american soap, and i doubt they will be the first cheating gay couple in an american soap.
Maybe i will be surprised and they get very interesting storylines, but i doubt it. I know marriage is very important on soaps, but in the case of gay couples it's just lazy writing and the kiss of death all in one. The fact that all soaps are doing exactly the same gives an idea of how lazy this is. Sonny and Will are very young, and their relationship is quite troubled, so how on earth getting married is a good idea. Of course it's not as bad as Lucas and Manno marrying, that's simply atrocious and spoil all the fun of a good potential storyline after a disastrous season on GTST

And we better be used to that, because that will be their only role once they marrbecame a married couple don't be sure They weren't at the center of their own storylines till now, and a gay marriage (a straight marriage is very different on a soap), only means there won't be any other men who interfere in their lives. After a good while the realtionship will be boring (well, more boring than now, because Wilson never were exciting) and with luck they will play recurring roles in other characters storyline (fortunately they aren't in a bubble like Luke and Noah, because that it's just the kiss of death). In a prime time show nothing of that would be a problem, but a soap is all about betrayal and romance. I wouldn't be surprised if they end leaving Salem after a while

They'll be in the background as support while Sami, Kate, Gabi and EJ carry the story, of course. And we better be used to that, because that will be their only role once they marrbecame a married couple

Chrolli were unwatchable way before Christian started to cheat.
And a marriage screams lazy writing. They are boring enough right now, i predict they will be write off the show in a year (if the show still exists in a year). We know the challenges of a gay married couple on a soap are basically zero

I don't care what he will do. Gabi was always a borefest no matter how goodlooking Camilla is. Nick on the other hand could be a very interesting villain, and she is going to leave anyway If Nick stays, he need a good redemption story. I prefer Marlena as his therapist. I don't want a redemption, i want a villain. It's bad enough the writers decide to be lazy and marry Will and Sonny (Chrolli were way more interesting than wilson before getting married and now are unwatchable) at least let someone to make a little trouble in their boring lifes

Ok, I have never been the biggest fan of Gabi. But a model? Has she ever thought about being one before. Or being involved with all the wrong men or chasing after them taking up all of her time? I don't watch on a regular basic, but when and how did this come about? And if she went to New York with the baby. While she's working as a model, trying to break into the business. Whose taking care of Ari during this time? Nick? Because he shouldn't be let anywhere near her. Or if they are both working whose taking care of the baby? A nanny, daycare, a family member? I'm not saying don't pursue a dream, but has she thought this through? (Though it is Gabi) She's not just making choices for herself anymore, there are other people affected. Ari, Will, Sonny, they all matter and she can't focus on just herself anymore. And neither can the boys, they need to make choices that are best for everyone. And they need to be honest with each other. Well, we don't know anything about Will's writing skill till he has that big offer. I know soaps are daily and must be difficult to keep in touch with all character's hobbies, but a mention from time to time would be easy to swallow this type of out of the blue storylines

I think the decision of the shows they cover is not a decision of the people who work on the backlot but something that their bosses decide. It was pretty obvious that there was a big change on that site a couple of years ago, and it's less gay. The site always had straight viewers, but now it seems more directed to straight gay friendly viewers to gay viewers. Because even with the excuse of gay viewership (sorry but gays have a very broad of different tastes, so you are going to find a gay viewership in every show you want) they cover shows that are not of particulary gay interest, not even in a campy way (Revenge will have a gay following even without Nolan) I suppose shows like Arrow or The vampire diaries (both with gay writers but without any single gay character) give them more page views that shows with gay characters. And business is business. I understand that some things, like the book reviews, didn't compensate because it meaned a lot of work and few page views, but the backlot loss a lot of its identity. At least it continues to be a place with respectfull comments section (something one can not say about other interesting gay webs like towleroad or queerty). Sometimes the new policy puts them in very uncomfortable situation. I recognize that i have a very visceral reaction to the plot (it was even before the show started to air) of Da Vinci's demons. I find that plot insulting (i wasn't the only one) and they had to spend a lot of time defending the show, something that ended backfiring them. I'm very interested in the return of Da vinci's demons because they can not promote the show the same way (they used a lot of gay press back then), and they are in a very week position, because they were renewed after a few good ratings episodes but by the end of the season the ratings were a lot less stellar. I felt pity for the poor actor who really had a tough job defending what the show was doing with an historial character.
Nashville is a show with a gay character (yes, it's not a main character, but it's not an episodic one either), and it's interesting because it's aimed at potentially conservative viewers, because country is not exactly the most gay friendly music genre. Only for the sociological impact it will interesting to cover the show

Well, she has a point, it's really weird the number of shows without any hint of gay content that thebacklot cover (don't get me wrong, i like Arrow, but that's not exactly the show i expect being covered on a gay site). It's true that right now there are very few shows with gay characters (and don't make me go to the poor state of gay characters on soaps when they only thing they do is die or marry, and i don't know what's more boring of both)i undertand they cover some shows with appeal to gay audiences (i can't see the appeal to gay audiences of The vampire diaries apart of having a gay writer), but Nashville is a prime time show, so i can't see no reason to be covered. Anthony cover Revenge on his colum, but Revenge has its proper review, and the backlot even covered Da Vinci's demons till it was obvious that it would end backfiring (the mocking final reviews were more interesting than the proper show).

I want them stable getting married no triangle no betrayal this cause me and others join seeing days only because twilson to leave and days will lose the cause of their saving.. I hope you will enjoy it, because that means they will be 5 minutes of screen time per week, and will be totally irrelevant in terms of storyline in less that a couple of months after the wedding. Wilson never was a very exciting couple, but marriage and kids always kill even better gay couples (VL was good some years ago, now it's difficult to believe they were interesting at all). We won't get any interesting storyline after this (not that we get any before this either). In my opinion this scream lazy writing, it's always the same in all gay soap storylines, suddenly the writers don't know what to do and they decide to marry the happy couple (no matter if they are too young to do it) and then they let them kill themselves of pure boredom- And the worst part is they film so many months in advance that they don't have any time to rectify. Before we know it they will be just a barely there couple who appears from time to time as recurring characters in other character's storylines

In other shows i could tell that the writers and producers want to avoid viewers such uncomfortable storylines, but this is hollyoaks, when bullying, rape, abuse and murder are the most used topics, so not showing that in Vincent storyline only means they are not investing in that storyline (wich is really bad in every sense of the word)

Oh, please, please, please, let Gabi take Ari with her. Nothing against the baby, she even makes a couple of cute scenes, but frankly, if she stays with Will and Sonny, i doubt Wilson storylines will be something to look for

Sorry gidi, but what you want you are not going to get it on a soap opera. On a prime time show it's possible, but soaps have certain genre traits. If they break the gay couple bubble it will be with all consecuences. And frankly, i prefer if they broke that bubble because Wilson are frankly quite boring right now. Playing the happy couple will only bring less and less airtime

I was one of the ones who opposed everyone come between Luke and Noah, because i thought there would be a lot more things to tell (of course there are, but soaps never go there). Nuke became a boredom after a very good start, because they were totally neutered, the show was very shy about their sexuality (and that was a big problem because they showed Noah with Maddie first), and all the problems between them were solved two episodes later. When they introduced Reid, the show was already dammed, most people lost the interes in the couple (and we are talking about a couple whose off screen sex increased the ratings of the show without even being promoted), and Noah was practically destroyed as character.
Wilson are a very vanilla couple (even their fanfiction is very vanilla), not even Will delictive past brings some edge to them, so in my opinion, if they don't introduce some productive conflict, they will be unwatchable in a short time. Of course the conflict doesn't mean necesarily a third man, but a new guy, totally integrated in the show (the barely there obstacle is just a waste of time) could be a good adition (of course if that new man is for Will, there's a lot of work to do to make believable that Sonny instead of doing the logic and call Brian, stays fighting for his man).
Wilson as story survived because people wait patiently to them to develop (Will's coming out story was far from being good, Luke Snyder's coming out was way more interesting), but now they are a couple, and frankly stay there and looking pretty is not enough

A soap is not a soap without blackmails, cheating, love triangles and kidnappings (you are not a soap character if you are not kidnapped a couple of times) not agree with it In that case you never followed an american soap at all. I'm not a soap fan, i watched them for the gay storylines (and sometimes the camp fun), but the soap as genre has some characteristics that didn't change through the years (of course, i think a good evolution would help the gender like it helped telenovelas), and if you don't like that, you are wasting your time. The fact that gay couples (the rare gay couples in american soaps) are treated like protected species, and most times they don't have the courage to treat them like the other couples in the show, doesn't change the fact that kidnappings, cheating, love triangles and blackmails are an esencial part of the genre. Wanting the sexy scenes without wanting the rest, it wanting an special treatment. And frankly, vocal fans against love triangles (happened a lot during the ATWT storyline) are a big part of the problem, and the result is a total boredom, because tptb don't want to lose that fans, so the couple stalls in boredom land with less and less screen time, till there's absolutely nothing to do to solve the situation. That happened to Nuke, and they were way more popular than Wilson

I think he gets more attention because unlike so many other people from that show is personality stands out and he does have a great voice. And if you haven't noticed about shows like that most of the time it is better not to have won. Case in point Adam Lambert. I'm pretty sure Will Young, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood disagree with that. The truth is he is different, and he is totally comfortable with himself wich helps a lot when you have to connect with an audience

Chandler knows he did a mistake with the post emmy announcement, and tptb could end the situation with more tact, but the rest is history. I understand Chandler not wanting to do interviews about this. He told his part of the story and it's time to move on. Gay couples will never (at least not for a long long time) be treated the same in daytime (with some exceptions like Spartacus, they are not treated the same in prime time either) because they have a very conservative audiences, and frankly, the fans of gay couples don't want them being treated equally either (everytime the words love triangle, wich is a typical soap opera plot, appears, fans react very very bad) I don't want triangles and cheating but I am ralking about bed and love scene.. I know, but being treated equally means equally in all departments. Days did a good job on Will and Sonny sexual life at the beginning, the problem is (and that's a norm with gay couples on soaps) the sex scene is always an exception and all the sex is off screen. It's like they do the bed scene and thought, it's done, we don't need to do this anymore. Days went further in that department than ATWT or OLTL, but lately they avoid sexually changed scenes like the plague, and that's a big problem because that scenes where the ones that distracted people from the boring storylines.

Where is the evidence to support these assertions? I'm seeing way too many things stated as facts here, but absolutely nothing to substantiate them. It's getting very tiresome. Point to studies or legitimate reporting. Otherwise just let it go. You are totally right. We are going to debate and probably won't agree, and no matter what we say because maybe the show present a different situation. What i say was based in an studie presented in a newspaper article some years ago, and maybe is not useful because it was predominantly based on female victims. The non sexual predator tipology, is refered in the first part of this excerpt (wich states a little information about rape), it's basically the cases that sex gets out of hands and the victim and rapist know each other www.nij.gov/topics/crime/rape-sexual-violence/victims-perpetrators.htmThere are a lot of information about male rape, but most information i found just doesn't match what is going to happen in Hollyoaks, because most articles refered to prison rape or when the rapist is an stranger, anyway it's interesting (and some articles are about the post rape reaction on male victims) jiv.sagepub.com/content/8/1/64.short

I read some time ago he was going to play a trasgender character, but i don't know if he finally played that role.
When actors play iconic gay character (specially on television) they generally avoid playing gay characters for a good time for fear of being typecasted (of course there are a good bunch of exceptions)
