The videos are still private. This breakup thing. What the hell. Sigh... All videos are public.

Thank you so much. It doesn't make any sense for them to break up though. If the show was ending, they could at least end it together and happy (give all the horrible things Sytze went through).
Thanks so much for keeping the story alive for us.
I'm so heart broken. I adore Sytze and Karif. They just have such a love chemistry between them. Sweet and gentle but sexy at the same time.
A credit to the actors.
Thanks for your tireless efforts. We appreciate it so much.

I'm not sure the reason for the break-up was the cancellation. I believe they heard they were cancelled about a month before filming stopped. That didn't give them much time to change things.
Spoilerish (not about Sytze/Karif): This is also why I think one of the main characters of the show, Bettina, was still in a coma when the show ended. I believe they hinted at her waking up, but that told me that they were still writing that with a new season in mind. I think the same might be true for the Sytze/Karif situation.

Ok Mark, that makes sense. If they were planning to get them back together and never had time to change the writing for their storyline, it would make sense that they kind of left it in the air like that because really, they were so in love and so happy together and it didn't make sense within the story for it to end that way. It does make sense if they were planning on having them reunite in the new season. It's a shame the show was canceled. It's very different, a bit darker and snarky but very hip. Seems like it would be a great companion to GTST because they are so different. They people it it are more urban and working class too which is a nice change.

It does make sense if they were planning on having them reunite in the new season. I agree with you. My opinion is that this is not really a completely closed end, one reason is that through the story we have seen that Karif is a very intelligent guy….so, he knows that, despite everything, sooner or later he will have to come out. He is a man of this century, although his parents are not, and he knows that he will never be happy in the fictional life they prepared for him… I think Sytze is being the coward now, he knows this, knows that Karif will never be happy if he don´t live his life being himself, but he is too afraid to see him suffer in the process. That´s the reason why i think that this end is really open, because neither has thought seriously about the consequences of their final decision, but I think after a while, they would have thought better. All this, from a no-emotional point of view, of course, that should be added the deep love they feel for each other, which is not something you forget so easily. So I think that if there were another season, the logical step would be to unite them again. But that´s only a dream…. I miss them soooooooooo much......

It was a nice little ep. I would have preferred a little more "conclusive" dialog, but it worked.

I know in the ONM spin-off novel there is a storyline about Sytze and his (new?) love, but I will not buy the book, so I don't know where the story exactly is about. Perhaps somebody want to write a fan-fiction story? The only thing you can do is have hope ONM returns on another channel. The producers are having conversations still, but the chance ONM will return is not big. The last recordings were in december and much of the actors are having other jobs now, so... This was the end of the Sytze & Karif storyline, but it wasn't the end of Sytze yet =)

I love Sytze. The actor is very compelling. Wonderful on screen. Hopefully he'll get a new gig right away.

Karif had his exit in ONM, but Sytze is still there. To understand the background story about the scenes with Sytze in the future I added this clip. It's about Esmee. Esmee is the surrogate of Shirina & Ilyas. She's also the best friend of Sytze.
She's in the hospital because she has preeclampsia. She's fighting for her own life and that from the baby. But will she stay alive and will her baby survive?
In this clip there is no Sytze.
I'll add another background story about the raper storyline later. After that I will continue with the scenes with Sytze.

Thanks Syonm. It's good to have background. Poor Esmee. She's so full of life. It's hard to see her like this.

No problem. You don't have to hurry. I think I didn't had to time add subtitles then. I hope to add them next week, but I'm nut sure if I have time enough.

Last month I told you that the weblog ONMthabomb has his own popularity poll. In the month of April both Sytze and Karif won. The results of May are a little different:
Guest performance: 1. Karif Baz (27%) - last month 1st (43%) 2. Roderick Frommer (24%) - last month 5th (5%) 3. Noa Stuger (21%) - last month 2nd (29%)
Leading performance: 3. Sytze Eyzinga (10%) - last month 1st (15%) 4. Jacqueline Brunel (9%) - last month 4th (10%) 5. Esmee Klein ( 8%) - last month 2nd (15%) 6. Kim Klein (6%) - last month 5th (6%) 7. Youssef El-Bassity (6%) - last month 6th (6%) 9. Junior Couwenberg (5%) - last month 6th (6%) 11. Shirina Delic (4%) - last month 12th (3%) 17. Ilyas Cabar (1%) - last month 14th (3%) 19. Marnix Klein (1%) - last month 17th (1%)
I included some other characters in the list, which you already saw in the Esmee clip, or will see in the rapist clip. I think it's obvious where the colour red stands for: the story of Sytze and Karif. Then there are multiple characters with a black colour, which means they played a role in multiple storylines.

Part 42 (Background information) In the beginning of this storyline Sytze & Karif took part in the raper storyline. Roderick has raped Jacq. Kim was a witness, but she (or actually her son Tommie) was threatened by Roderick. Esmee made a false statement and Roderick became a free man. Jacq wants her revenge and she wants to brand the word 'raper' on his belly.
Sytze has a supporting role in this storyline. You'll see him in the next parts in this storyline. There's also the storyline about Sytze and the reaction of Yousef. In this clip you see a preview of a scene which you can watch in the next clip.
NOTE: I think it takes some days/two weeks until I have time to start translating the next clips.

Let's explain something about BNN & Nederland 3. From Wikipedia BNN is the broadcaster of ONM, and this broadcaster broadcast ONM on channel 3 (Nederland 3, it means The Netherlands 3). BNN didn't want to stop with broadcasting ONM, but the 'president' of Nederland 3 decided to stop the series. [It is really difficult to explain this clear]. It is even discussed in the government, with no effect. The exact reason of the end of ONM is still unclear.

Okay, so it looks like ONM will not return then..
I read of several reasons for the cancelling: 1. It would be to expansive 2. They had to less young viewers

Yes, that's what 'Nederland 3' said. BNN did not agree with that.

I really want to tell you it was not true, but it is true. I have to upload and translate some Sytze-scenes, but the story of Sytze and Karif ended.

It really is such a shame. I was getting to really like the other characters as well (though Sytze totally has my heart). Thanks for all the translations and subs.

I found time to translate (partly) and add subtitles at this clip =) 07 May 2010, part 1. Subtitles are available. Click on the CC-button to get them. The storyline with Sytze, Yousef, Noa ... is going on =) There are also parts with Esmee and Laila, and there are scenes about the raper. This is clip has a very sad ending ... I felt a lump in my throat when I watched it the first time, and every time I watch it again I get that lump in my throat again. The song is Breathe in, breathe out, by Polly Scattergood.

I've read some comment about the novel spin-off of ONM: Sytze is getting a new relationship with somebody called Edgar...

I've read some comment about the novel spin-off of ONM: Sytze is getting a new relationship with somebody called Edgar... Really? I would love to read it once, but of course, is really very difficult ... in dutch ... is enough for me to make myself understood in my horrible English, I think I'm old enough to learn another language. But if you hear anything more about the history of Sytze in the book, I would be grateful if you to tell me... ;D I'm dying of curiosity...

You can buy it, retype the text in Google Translate, and read it then (and you'll probably laugh because of the weird translations sometimes ) If I hear something about the story of Sytze in the book, I'll tell I've read there's a funny chapter where Sytze tumble with Edgar. A comment of somebody: "The parts with Sytze are the best, it's well written with a lot of honestly and clarity." (I wish somebody will write a review, but I haven't found a review yet )
