Yeah, just read it.. Like I said, I'm not happy with this casting choice, I would have chosen one of the other two guys, but whatever. Thankfully he's just a short term character.

Well, you never know, sometimes in a soap (or in a nightime show) a shortime contract ends as regular. And sometimes they cast someone with the intention to make a big storyline and just don't work that way

So they will hopefully end up together!

not sure if these were posted yet well some were a given but I am guessing this will be in july.... can't wait! <spoilers> Look for a much anticipated first kiss to happen! I am hoping this is kish!
Layla fears that Fish and Kyle have a major secret!
Fish and Kyle have a sexual past! www.soaps.com/onelifetolive/spoilers/</spoilers> It's interesting with role reversal... Oliver is struggling with his sexuality and Scott is very out. Kyle keeps to himself but he is not as secretive about his sexuality as evident with his 'steamy' encounter with Gigi. Brett I assume is straight. Makes you wonder which character was top dawg in college.....

I just found a new poll, please vote.. It has already been taken over by the fundies, and it sucks;( So, it would be good if you could help out and vote! www.soapcentral.com/oltl/index.php#pollAnother SHOCKING SPOILER, about casting, let's just say that it's the Chris Engen thing all over again.. Highlight to read: Daytime Confidential is reporting that Patricia Mauceri who plays Carlotta Vega has been fired for refusing to be part of the KISH storyline, it is unclear if it is the actors personal beliefs or her thoughts of how the character would not gay friendly due to the characters staunch Catholic faith. Saundra Santiago has been brought in as an emergency recast as Carlotta.

I'm curious to know if any of these walk-outs/firings have occurred on any of the European soaps--an actor or actress objecting to a gay storyline and either quitting or getting the boot...?

I voted Thanks Polls like these are important. We need to show that we support and want to see a gay storyline! New info about the fireing (highlight to read): Allegedly, Carlotta's role in the Kish story is to initially be opposed to them, then become understanding and gay friendly. Supposedly Patricia Mauceri opposed Carlotta NOT being a homophobe.

Well, but this is different, if you are playing a role (gay or straight) for a long time sooner or later you will end tired of the character. In europe it's a different story, and i think no actor will make such a big deal about it. Well i'm talking about vocational actors (in every acting school you have to kiss same sex and different sex partners and make love dialogues on regular bases since the begining of the classes). Maybe it's different when someone ends as an actor because some day he decide to go a casting and have the luck to be the chosen ones. I remember an interview of a young spanish actor about all his concerns about playing a gay role in a movie. Yes, he had sex scenes, but i think all his concerns where about his female fans, because he is a teen idol.
I have a doubt, i know ATWT have to deal a lot of pressure of conservative groups, but it was the reaction in the forums so negative to Nuke as it is to the Y&R and OLTL gay storylines?. Because if it was so bad, ther are hopes that Kish will end being so popular

I followed Luke storyline from the start when he was a drunkard to hide his true nature and at the beginning when there were rumours that Lily's son could be gay some reactions were quite negative, but ATWT had a one year time to get viewers accustomed to Luke being gay and so the initial reactions were calmed down when Noah appearead on the show. About OLTL I think that thanks to Nuke that get viewers used to a gay couple on daytime, the reactions to Kish storyline are more positive, I read on forums people who are waiting for this storyline (even people who never watched before Nuke and now are curious about Kyle and Fish) About Y&R I think the negative reactions are more about the characters involved in the gay storyline than the gay storyline itself

I'm pretty happy with the spoilers because I was a big fan of Guiding Light (long before the show cancellation) and I always loved Saundra Santiago as Carmen Santos so I can't wait to see her act again. About the forums reactions to Kish storyline I saw some negative and some baffled but I think that the majority are positive or at least curious about the development of this story. I already found a forum dedicating to the pairing

I think Maya is partially right: the negative responses at Y&R have been due partly to the character involved (Adam), though there have been those that were negative from the get-go.
The OLTL forum has been more positive in my experience; only with the recent firing did a *few* negative, unpleasant comments appear, but it wasn't about the story itself. By and large, I think the OLTL audience is looking forward to the Kish pairing.

More news about what went down + spoilers (highlight to read): More has come to light in regards to what allegedly drove Patricia Mauceri to demand re-writes of Carlotta's scenes as part of the "Kish" storyline on One Life to Live, resulting in the star being terminated from One Life to Live and replaced with Sopranos and Guiding Light actress Saundra Santiago. Here's what a source tells Daytime Confidential:
"Near the climax of a beat in the gay storyline where Fish (Scott Evans) decides to come out to his very religious family, he purchases a book on how to come out to your parents. Somehow this book ends up in Christian's possession and Carlotta mistakenly believes Christian is gay, leading to a comedic scene where Carlotta is first floored, then begins to accept "her" son's sexuality citing his sensitivity, artistic temperant and concern for his appearance. The scene was meant to be played as a comedy of mistaken identities, with Christian continuing to insist he isn't gay. When Patricia read the script she went to the producers and demanded the scenes be re-written, or she wouldn't play them. Patricia felt Carlotta would never accept son's "gayness". When the producers informed her the scenes would play out as is, Patricia persisted and the decision was made to recast with Saundra. Patricia has worked extensively with gays in theater and on film over the years, but her personal religious beliefs have changed."daytimeconfidential.com/2009/06/28/the-story-beat-that-oltls-patricia-mauceri-allegedly-protested-revealed

Negative comments are imposible to avoid, but if it's a minority there's no problem. I think OLTL storyline has some of the qualities that work for ATWT, the actors have great chemistry and they are a couple to root for, and i don't know about the guy who play Kyle, but it's obvious that Scott Evans knows that this is a big opportunity for him, and seems dedicated to the character. I think that's the problem with Y&R, the storyline is interesting, but they are not a real couple (at least i don't perceive them as a posible romantic couple)

I think my biggest issue with the way folks talk about or judge the storylines that have gay characters is that folks don't actually seem to care about the gay characters unless they are paired up with someone or in a love story.
Fish and Kyle have their own story lines separate from each other right now and have for some time and folks act like that part doesn't matter as much as "when are they getting together, when are they going to kiss"
I feel like we have to know each individual character separately and get to see what kind of person they are and how they interact with the world before we can get excited about seeing them in a couple or falling in love.
Love stories and romance are great but I really like seeing gay characters who are out and sexually active without being involved in a big romance from the second the character appears on the screen or comes out.
I know "couples" are a staple of soaps and I'm new to soaps so maybe I'm just seeing the shows differently. I like Luke and Noah separately as characters and as a couple so I could easily see myself being interested in their lives after they broke up (for instance).
I'm hoping OLTL explores more of Kyle and Fish's characters and takes time doing it, before they become "KISH"
