All My Children and One Life to Live have found a new home after NBC had decided to end both shows. Prospect Park will deliver both shows in online formats. Not that One Life to Live really deserves a reprieve after getting rid of Kish. (source: www.rbr.com/tv-cable/new-home-for-cancelled-soaps-all-my-children-and-one-life-to-live.html ). I find it somewhat strange that the discussion of OLTL in the article focused on Ryan Phillipe's gay character from the mid-90s and made no mention of Kish at all.

I have to respectfully disagree. IMO, OLTL did deserve a reprieve. Despite the shameful sendoff of Kish, I personally feel OLTL is the best soap currently on-air, and that is mostly down to the writers, cast and crew. I firmly believe that it was network interference that drove Kish out, not Ron Carlivati or Frank Valentini (both gay men, so I doubt they would treat the show's gay couple so shamefully). I am also glad that the talented cast and crew (at least some of them) won't have to join the unemployment line. I am annoyed that ABC is still going to make millions in royalties; it appears they turned down deals for the soap to move to another network with this specific aim. I fear the online model will mean losing a lot of cast members (especially the higher-paid vets) and production quality. But of course, what else would we have expected from ABC Daytime?
As for the failure to mention Kish and instead giving attention to Billy Douglas, I believe this is because Billy's storyline as the first gay teen on daytime, a story that touched on homophobia and AIDS, was a unique and defining moment for the medium. I loved Kish, but besides the first scene of two men in bed together (not even a sex scene), they did not do anything groundbreaking.

Well, i don't know if it was the network or not, but they did it in the worse way possible.
If the show really goes online, they better call Brett and Scott again, maybe they "make the ratings go down" but they were very popular online, and if the show goes online the audience will be a lot less conservative than on tv

IMO.. as much as I liked Kish, I think blaming the downfall of the soap because of them was BS.
It's not like the gay storyline was that nicely told anyway! Kyle's gay relationship to Nick was mostly told off screen. There you have your first mistake. Then Fish sleeping with Layla and that bitch, even making her pregnant. Second mistake. Then there was that mass wedding. It was just too PDA. You can say what you want about Days, but Days went the PDA route too, though they did a much better job than OLTL imo. They casually mentioned the two cowboys story, and Victor standing up to Sonny. Anyway.. OLTL's big gay wedding was a huge mistake imo. They could have gotten their point across without having that stupid faux lesbian & mass gay wedding storyline. So that was their third mistake. Then there was the obvious fact about making two disposable minor characters gay. If it backfired they could just get rid of the characters without too much hazzle, which they evetually did. The characters should have been part of one of the major families on the show imo. There's probably more too, but I just can't remember it all now, it was so long ago.
Basically.. my point is that it wasn't the fact that it was gay that was Kish's downfall, it was more the writing that sucked, and probably lead to Kish being axed.

I will miss these boys badly, they were my ideal to watch, they were older, extremely sexy, and had it together.
Once they got past Olivers demons and finally got together, they realised it took them way too long to get there so they can negotiate anything together. The chemistry and friendship onscreen and offscreen with these guys was just awesome and inspiring to watch.
Wish there was more like it........
Your work will always stand the test of time and its out there now to watch over and over again........

There's nothing gay (as far as I'm aware) besides starring the newly out Tuc Watkins as David Vickers, but OLTL returns on Monday with all new episodes available for free on Hulu.com
Here's a tutorial from the stars themselves on how US folks can tune in starting 5am EST.

Definitely needs more gay. I'd actually be okay with bringing back Kyle and Oliver as recasts at this point. They have such a grounding in the community being part of the hospital and police force.

I watched Oliver & Kyle (Kish) but I didn't know this. First gay teenager on tv. I wonder if I can find videos of Billy.
