Yeah I just find it cruelly ironic after an entire season in which Victor could only lust after Benji from afar (apart from two kisses), now they finally have a chance to be together, and the show claims they will actually explore the topic of sex next season, but we're hit with a pandemic that prohibits any kissing or intimate scenes. Jeez!

I suppose the problem with kissing an sex scenes will be temporary.
Maybe actors have to surrender a little of their privacy and keep their lifes a litle on hold while they are rehearsing a filming. I don't know when they film this show, but sometimes sets are not exactly on the most exciting places so it's quite easy to keep the rules and stay safe.
Anyway, i think the first episodes will deal more with the aftermath of the coming out than anything else, focusing on the family reaction. As Benji said, Víctor has to deal with some thing before taking the next step (he didn't said out loud i'm gay till the very end of the first season), so probably intimacy with Benji will be a work in progress

I highly doubt they will be allowed up here in Canada to film this even if they want to move the entire production. The border will likely stay close to all but essential travel until the US get a handle on the virus or it burns through the entire population. Either way, not any time soon

I highly doubt they will be allowed up here in Canada to film this even if they want to move the entire production. The border will likely stay close to all but essential travel until the US get a handle on the virus or it burns through the entire population. Either way, not any time soon I saw that Riverdale and the Arrow-verse shows will resume production in Canada next month, with US cast and crew required to arrive 2 weeks earlier to quarantine. But then those are productions which have been based in Canada for years now. Not sure if the Canadian government would be willing to issue permits to new shows which want to move to Canada, to say nothing of the logistical difficulties for the US crew to move production facilities, sets, etc. and get everyone Canadian work passes. And all the exterior shots would have to be green-screened. It's just too much work and too many uncertainties. So yeah, I very much doubt they will move production to Canada. It's more likely they will resume in the US later this year or next spring at the latest, with the same kind of precautions that the US soaps are taking since resuming earlier this month (B&B already has new episodes airing and GH will begin new episodes next week). Unfortunately, that means no kissing (or sex) scenes. Even Australia and New Zealand, which have had much lower infection rates and have been back in production for some time now, still do not include any kissing or sex scenes. Unless the filming rules change, and actors' unions agree, this will be the case going forward until and unless a vaccine is mass-marketed. The possible advantage that Love, Victor has is its very short format - there probably won't be more than 4-5 kisses per couple in the course of a season. So they might be able to consider a model where they test the actors involved in kissing scenes, strictly quarantine them for 3 days and re-test them a second time before shooting all their kissing scenes on the same day. It would need to be approved by the local authorities, unions, insurers and the actors themselves will probably need to sign a waiver. Not sure all those can fall into place, so I think it's more likely there won't be any kissing/sex scenes in the shows produced between now and 2021.

As I understand it some Canadian provinces have moved to restart TV and movie production. British Columbia and Manitoba have. It would still be the case that arrivals from outside Canada would have to quarantine for two weeks when they enter the country before starting work, and masks, physical distancing, and limiting gathering size recommendations should all be observed.

The wait for the announcement of a second season is killing me. I don't think it's in any danger. It made Top 10 of most binge watched series the premiere week. It's probably the most popular series on Hulu.

Not a surprise but it's good to know. I have great expectations for season 2.
After watching some clips of another teens shows it's easy to understand why this was such a hit. Right now everything is dark and depressing, or edgy and shocking, it's curious that being a classic teen show was somehow swimming against the stream.
And the characters are easy to relate. I still love how Victor sabotaged his night of sex with Mia. Catan was all an experience

Hopefully they can cover new grounds on season 2 without losing that!

After I started watching Asian BLs, I just stopped having any interest in most western gay content for that reason.

Happy to see official confirmation of the renewal - not that I seriously believed it would be cancelled, given all the positive press and social media buzz - but I'm disappointed by the lack of detail in the announcement. I assumed the reason they were dragging their feet about officially announcing season 2 was because they were ironing out some more details to include in the announcement. Like whether we can expect season 2 in summer 2021, or later that year, or not until 2022. And whether it will still be 10 episodes (which was way too short) or more.

I all for things being equal when it comes to LGBT couples and their sexuality compared to m/f romances. I just hope it's not all sexed up instead of actual feelings and a actual healthy relationships. And they are still just highschoolers and not adults.

That article almost definitely is overselling the sex aspect. The actual quotes from the producer don't back up the idea that it will be a whole lot sexier. I think it is more a matter of reinserting the stuff Disney forced them to cut. Like Andrew's locker room scene, where the pilot script had him in boxer briefs but the filmed version replaced it with baggy shorts. Or Victor sneaking a peek at Benji in the changing room and seeing a split second of Benji shirtless. Those scenes may be a bit more revealing in season 2, but it's not like they are suddenly going to have nudity. Maybe a few more shirtless scenes, Victor sleeping topless instead of pj's (how many teen boys actually own those?) As for sexual contact, well, even before Covid-19, I didn't think we would get them going at it hot and heavy. It'll be more implied than anything else. Probably tamer than daytime soaps at their peak. More Nuke than Horita, if you get the references. And with Covid, even kissing is out! They do need to address the topic because Benji was obviously sexually active with his ex, and their straight counterparts are, so I can't imagine they go a whole season with Victor still a virgin. They're a pair of teenage boys, for crying out loud.

But I was worried that they would sex it up, just for the sexual drawl (like the CW) and not because it works for the story or characters. I mean I don't want them to censor them or not be realistic, but not have them acting like adults, when they are still kids. And honestly I always got the vibe from Victor, that though he's gay, he's kinda shy when it comes to more advance sexual stuff. Like he's not ready to take that step emotionally or mentally yet. I may be wrong, but I see him as the type, that is good with just hand holding and kissing for the moment. Yeah most guys I know, sleep in t-shirts and boxers, they don't really have pjs. But it's Disney, they are gonna baby proof every sharp corner. I wonder what the plan is for Covid filming? Like are they just gonna let some time pass, until it's stated to be safe to film certain things again? Or just have everyone stand very far from each other, what are they gonna do for school scenes? Or for any close moments between Benji and Victor or Felix and Lake?

Or for any close moments between Benji and Victor or Felix and Lake? I have the same gut feel about Victor. I'm going to speculate that gay sex will be a barrier to Victor, given his religious upbringing, and the tension that creates with Benji (who is older and sexually active) may not be resolved until the tail end of season 2 (perhaps not even then). As for filming amid Covid-19, it will depend firstly on the authorities of the jurisdiction in which they film, and secondly the rules of the production itself. For instance, I notice B&B and Y&R are keeping actors very far apart (B&B is using mannequins and the actors' real-life partners for intimate scenes) whereas GH, which films in the same state, allows actors to get closer and even touch/embrace each other, but kissing is still off limits. Shortland Street is the only soap I've seen that has resumed kissing and sex scenes because New Zealand thought they had contained the Covid outbreak (that may change now that they've had a second outbreak). Love, Victor may be able to be less restrictive since the actors are all young, but they would need to sign off on that and not everyone will be comfortable, let alone what their agents and insurers will say! I think it's safe to say kissing/sex will be offscreen or use some digital tricks (maybe taking close-ups from last season's kisses). The other alternative is to postpone production until a vaccine is commercially available, but that would mean no new episodes until the very end of 2021, maybe even 2022. Euphoria is taking that step because they don't feel it's realistic or safe to resume filming under these conditions. They're going to end up having a 2-year gap between their first and second seasons, but they're proposing to do some "bridge" episodes to tide over fans until then. Maybe Love, Victor can do the same if they go down that route - some kind of mini episodes based on Felix and/or Lake, Mia, Andrew or Benji (characters not involved in the season 1 cliffhanger).
