The show does seem like a spent force to me. Still kind of fun, though.

I'm sorry, I just find this to be such an unreasonable position to take. How long is someone supposed to be "loyal" to a job? We have very little information here - unless someone else has some inside knowledge, we have no idea if Brent Antonello returned because he loves the show so much that he turned down other work for it or because he just didn't have anything else in his schedule. Likewise, we have no idea if Adam Senn didn't return because he had other commitments or because he just didn't feel like playing the part anymore. And even if it's the latter, I still can't really blame him. It's a job. Most people don't stay at one specific job forever. Whether he had a scheduling conflict or personal feelings about the show or character or he was just bored with the role and wanted to move on, I think it's completely unreasonable to expect that he absolutely should have come back - even after 7 months and an assumption that the show was done - and constantly lambaste him for it, just because we loved the character. It's a bummer, but he doesn't owe anything to the show or the fans. What I find unreasonable is the stance that, because Adam chose to exercise his right to leave the show, the show is to blame or that they should have also written out Jude/Brent. That's what got me riled up. Like I said, it's Adam's free choice to leave and as far as I'm concerned, out of sight = out of mind. But having to read a constant stream of BS about the show "firing" him (this is FALSE - it is a LIE) and negativity from Adam's fans who wish the show was cancelled because they dared to have Jude return without Zero (again, why should Brent lose his job on account of Adam's choice?) has driven me up the wall. For the LAST TIME: 1. ADAM SENN QUIT. 2. He was asked to return, HE chose not to. 3. It was HIS decision, and no one else's, which brought an end to Zude. 4. HE is responsible. There's no need to find someone else to blame. Ultimately, it's on Adam. 5. Despite Adam's choice, the show has maintained a strong gay presence with Brent continuing in the role and hiring Kristian as his love interest. They deserve kudos, not criticism, for that. And if there are fans who still want to maintain such blind loyalty to an actor who doesn't care about the show or his fandom, well, that's on them. But please understand and accept the basic FACTS presented above. I'm honestly not sure why you seem so upset about this. I - and I don't think anyone here - haven't suggested that the show is to blame for anything, or that Jude should've been written out. I don't think anyone is to blame for anything - I don't even think there's any blame that needs to be cast. Things happen. That's life. Adam didn't return for whatever the reason (and it sounds like there was a legit scheduling conflict), the show had to go on, and James LaRosa/the writers did what they could. It's disappointing, but that doesn't mean that anyone has to be at fault. I don't care for the explanation that the writers came up with for Zero leaving and wish they'd done something different in that sense, but I never wanted Jude to be written out (to be honest, as much as I loved Jude/Zero, I was really pulling for Zero to be killed off offscreen and for the season to open with Jude having random, anonymous sex in his grief before meeting and falling for Noah) and I agree that writing Jude out just because Adam didn't return would've been ridiculous and unfair to Brent Antonello and to the fans. Yeah, as much as I love HTF, I could also see it being a case of having to choose between the same role he'd played for two years and a brand new role in a different arena (film vs TV), and wanting to go with the one that would diversify his experience and resume. I think Logan Browning had a similar issue - it's great that she was able to be in a couple of episodes, but she was also committed to Dear White People and ultimately it sounds like the schedules conflicted so they couldn't have her in the season any more than those couple of eps (apparently the final scene of her at the airport with Miguel was filmed in the middle of the night when she'd gotten off of filming DWP for the day). As for the ratings and potential for renewal, who knows. I'm still enjoying the show for what it is, as silly melodrama fantasy, but I agree with others that I think it's lost a step this season. I'm not sure if it's that they're trying to do too many things in one rather short season or that we're missing some characters and the new ones haven't lived up to the originals, or if the writers maybe got caught up in the novelty of being able to include more graphic sex scenes (I'm all for sex scenes, even gratuitous ones, but for such a short season, I feel like they wasted way too much time on things like Pax fucking random women and Kyle's random sex scene with the merchandise guy), or maybe a combination of above. That said, despite the season not really living up to previous ones, I still find myself so attached to some of these characters, so I'd be happy if they got another season.

I have to say, I found the finale pretty disappointing (and overall, I just don't think I really enjoyed this season that much, though it was really highlighted by the finale). Everything just felt kind of flat. Eve's scheme started out fun and intriguing but ultimately didn't really go anywhere, and now she's going to have an actual relationship with the guy who murdered her mother? And the number of people letting German off the hook for pushing a woman off of a balcony is pretty insane, even for this show.
Noah/Jude, eh. I really wanted to like them, and I thought they were cute enough in the beginning, but by the end of the season I just felt totally turned off and was not happy with them getting back together and declaring their love. I could maybe have lived with them continuing to date and get to know each other, but now they love each other? Based on what? There just wasn't enough shown on screen for me to buy it and I generally found them totally bland together.

I agree with you a 100% atlanticslide . 8 episodes just wasn't enough time to flesh out the characters and I still don't feel like I really know Noah, so I never got to care about him which is also why I think his relationship with Jude didn't work. When you only have 8 episodes, you should really make them count but like you said, the stories didn't really go anywhere and at the end of it everything felt flat... I don't think James LaRosa managed to make the new season work with all of his previous characters gone - and I really wanted to like Noah and give him and Jude a chance together as a couple but James never built a lovestory for them ! I think that's a big reason why I never got why they loved each other?! At this point, I actually think I would've liked it better if Noah had turned out to be a bad guy and not just a perfect new boyfriend for Jude - it's HTF for god's sake !! Even Oscar was nice this season?!?! Wtf..... Ugh.. I'm not sure I want a season 5 now but we'll see what happens.
