Yeah, technically the seasons don't change until the Autumnal Equinox, but September doesn't really feel much like summer. Similarly, we usually have a fair amount of snow where I live long before the Winter Solstice, so I don't pay too much attention to the official dates. Yeah, technically that's still summer. It's good they're not broadcasting it in August, I guess, because a lot of people are on vacation. I guess it helps, but Labor Day itself doesn't seem like a great day for it, either.

I guess it helps, but Labor Day itself doesn't seem like a great day for it, either. I hadn't thought about that. I just did some research and Labor Day traditionally has smaller audiences for TV shows. So it seems like VH1 is dumping the special on a day when they don't expect many people to be watching. More evidence that they are done with this show.

I've had a bad feeling for a while now and dumping it on Labor Day is not a good sign imo.

I knew the show was a goner after the "summer special". I've had a bad feeling ever since they delayed the third season for almost a year.

More promotion for the special: hiddenremote.com/2016/09/02/hit-floor-series-creator-james-larosa-teases-special/Show runner, Larosa, says the special won't leave all cliffhangers unresolved. "Fans don’t yet know if VH1 will order a full fourth season of Hit The Floor after the special airs, but LaRosa cautioned fans not to look at Til Death Do Us Part as a finite conclusion.... “You’re never guaranteed another season so you have to take a chance on some cliffhangers and maybe they won’t be resolved but I’m not going to give anyone an opportunity to go well, the story’s wrapped up, we don’t need to pick it back up. I’ve approached the show [like] there’s always a risk of things not being answered but that’s the risk you have to take. Don’t look at this special as anything is wrapped up. I think fans who expect a big holy s–t ending will not be disappointed.” So the special will set up a possible season 4. It looks like there may be a few cast members not available for another season, but that could easily be worked around. I did some poking around and discovered that it's not just Hit the Floor - VH1 hasn't yet made a decision on a lot of their shows. I'm suddenly feeling a small bit of hope. If the special gets a lot of viewers, that should make it hard for VH1 to cancel it, I would think.

Yeah, I'm still going to try to hold onto some cautious optimism. McKinley Freeman having another job isn't a great sign but doesn't necessarily mean that the show is gone for good, since they seem to have a fairly short filming period and a pretty big cast, so they could probably work around him.

Aww. It was actually a pretty flawed ep - it felt super, super rushed and like they tried to compress an entire season into 40 minutes, but it still worked for me and if we don't get another season, all of the characters were left in really great places. Jude and Zero were very sweet - I love that Jude wasn't upset or angry that Zero believed him capable of attempted murder, but was just happy that Zero was willing to help him cover it up.

I thought the special had a split personality. Despite what Larosa said, it did feel a bit like a wrap-up. Everybody was left in a position to live happily ever after if the show is cancelled. But it also laid the ground work for a possible 4th season at the very end. It dealt wit the departure of McKinley Freeman from the show by having Derek and Asha leave L.A. for another team. Logan Browning is apparently able/willing to continue as Jelena; otherwise they probably would have written her out as well. That the Special dealt with Derek's departure actually gives me added hope that the series will continue. Since McKinley Freeman is going to be starring in a new VH1 series, extracting him from Hit the Floor could have been the main purpose of the Special rather than wrapping up the cliffhangers for cancellation. After all, if the show was going to be cancelled, they wouldn't have had to come up with a reason in the story for Derek's exit, would they?
The Zude scenes were all awesome. They are just ridiculously hot and cute as a couple. It's beyond belief really. And if showing Jude's butt doesn't win a new season, nothing will.

We got a decent amount of Zude in the special, but it did feel pretty final. And I'd be okay with that, to be honest. I never expected this show to deliver one of the strongest, sexiest gay stories - they really exceeded all expectations. (Not least with that shower sex scene - wowza!)
Of course I'd love to see more of them (literally and figuratively) but if this really has to be the end, then it's not a bad way to go out.
Still hope they'll renew though.

With or without season 4, can I ask for a minute of silence in awe for the hotness of this couple? Cheers!

Well If it indeed was the finale, I'm ok with it. =) Those Zude scenes were romantic and hot. It's true, the show delivered more than I imagined when it started (i mean the gay storyline).

I agree, that special was really sweet for the guys, with that awesome shower scene to boot. If it really is the end, they went out on a high note. "King and king of LA". I was also thinking ... if it is the end, then how about that: a gay storyline with a happy ending. Nobody died. Nobody left heartbroken. Nice. I would guess that snicks is just guessing. It's a little hard to tell, I suppose, considering there hasn't been any official word one way or the other.

So the special got respectable ratings - pretty much what it averaged all through season 3. The 18-49 rating is especially respectable. The numbers aren't as strong as previous seasons, but still, they seem too strong to justify cancellation. Total Viewers (000s)- 1,235; 18-49 rating - 0.6 Also, there's this: James LaRosa twitter

Absolutely loved it. Just got a chance to watch the entire episode and the Zude scenes were especially good. How cute was the scene in Jude's office with Zero practically fawning all over Jude and the scene of Jude catching the bouquet and the way they looked at each other. I cannot believe how far zero came from "I don't do relationships" to Jude being his lifeline. They are too adorable for words. If the show does not come back, I'm completely satisfied with the way this episode ended with the guys together, happy and ready to move into their new home and maybe one of these days, marriage.

WOW! I though the show was done. How things were left with Zude? I don't remember. When we can expect season 4?

WOW! I though the show was done. How things were left with Zude? I don't remember. When we can expect season 4? Zero still plays for the Devil, Jude now works for Jelena and there is a scene where Jude got the bouquet Asha threw in her wedding so i think we can expect Zude wedding in ss4. We dont have a date yet, i think it will take months from now because they have to finish the script and gather all the casts (i hope so, i want the original cast, especially Brent and Adam)
