I love the finale also. Everyone was backstabbing in this episode except Jamal. Rhonda killed Vernon but his the hell did they get Vernon's body out the house. I cannot believe after all the love and support Cookie has given Jamal, he just took Lucious word over his mother's and now is not speaking to her or trust her? Out of all Lucious's children, Jamal is the most like him. Look at the way he tried to throw Baretti over the balcony, look at how easy he discarded Michael and picked up with the next guy that came along without a thought after all they have been thru together. I mean Michael supported him emotionally over two years and even moved with Jamal to that roach motel in Brooklyn and look how he treated him.
I knew Lucious would give him the empire because the apple does not fall very far from the tree.

I mean Michael supported him emotionally over two years and even moved with Jamal to that roach motel in Brooklyn and look how he treated him. I knew Lucious would give him the empire because the apple does not fall very far from the tree. I (and my sister, who watches the show with me on Wednesdays), thought that if Lucious were to die (and I'm beyond pissed that he was misdiagnosed), Jamal would be the one at his beside, because at the end of it all, Jamal just really wants his father's love. Not approval. His love. Lucious, shows his love, by acknowledging his son's level of maleness. Andre's not a man, due to his mental condition. Hakeem's not a man, because he actually cares about being with a woman, that loves and cares for him. The exception being Lucious' ex fiance (and for the life of me, all I can think of is "Boo Boo Kitty" as her name). Jamal, was the one, that kept confronting Lucious about his sexuality and the ridiculous belief that a gay man, couldn't be seen as a man, a musical artist or someone that could continue his legacy. Then, even after all the stuff that Lucious has done to Jamal, he was the only one to not try and betray him. Jamal proved his loyalty, above and beyond everything that Lucious thought less about him. Yet, I think that Jamal made a huge mistake. Lucious will turn on him, when Jamal doesn't continue to do what his father wants from him.

Her name is Anika Yeah, I think Jamal is going to regret this. I don't trust Lucious. I think there's an element of growing respect there towards Jamal, but Lucious is good at manipulating things to his own advantage. And I agree that the moment Jamal does something he doesn't like, Jamal will be out so fast his head will spin. Kind of like Cookie was when Lucious locked her out of the building. I get that Jamal still wants his father's approval and love. What's strange to me is that until the finale he was trying to get past it. And it seemed like he had, but the moment he got a scrap of what he wanted from Lucious, he changed. I almost can't believe he threatened to throw Baretti (sp?) off the roof. Is he really that damaged? I actually don't know how I feel about Jamal running Empire (at least for the time being). If he didn't lose himself in a vain attempt to be like his father, it might be good. But I'm not convinced of that. Last week's season finale was ... entertaining. To be honest, though, I thought the pacing was all wrong. Every other episode of season 1 felt like it moved things along nicely, but the finale seemed to jam a ton of stuff in. At one point I had to smile at the soap opera quality (like the fight between Cookie and Anika ). One aspect of that was Lucious' misdiagnosis. I really think they should have left that open for a while. At any rate, I hope we see more of Ryan and Jamal next season.

To still seek the love and approval from the man, that put you in the garbage?! Jamal has a hole inside of him, that cannot be filled by Lucious' love and respect. It's always going to be tested, by how loyal Jamal is to him.

I hope Michael is back for season 2. Jussie and Rafael seem to be good friends irl, so it would be fun to have him back. They had excellent chemistry too. They need to give him his own storyline if he does come back though. He was barely developed at all in season 1. All he was known as was "Jamal's boyfriend".

I'm excited for the second season. That said, I'd love to see Michael back. He had excellent chemistry with Jamal.
