I'm glad that the filming has wrapped. Now we just have to get through post-production and HBO finding time in their calendar to get the wrap up film on the schedule in 2016. filming for the movie has wrapped. the film will finally air the end of July. the plot for the movie: Looking begins with video game designer Patrick returning to San Francisco for the wedding of bestie Agustín to adorable bear Eddie (Daniel Franzese). Patrick left the Bay Area several months earlier—for a job, he says, but with a lovesick expression that suggests otherwise. Celebratory reunions with hunky restaurateur Dom and the ever-hilarious Doris (Lauren Weedman) ensue, as do multiple erotic minglings, old and new. Whether Patrick reconciles with bad-news-boss Kevin (Russell Tovey), renews his relationship with sexy charmer Richie (Raúl Castillo), or chooses the non-committed life, we will not say, letting you savor the potent particulars as they unfold.

Agustin/Eddie. Good luck. No sarcasm or cynicism.
Dom. I do think he'll be all right on the romantic level, at his own pace. The distance now with Doris felt a bit uncomfortable at times, but I think they both needed it to adjust and will find a new easiness to their bond in time. They just need a new understanding of each other and each other's chosen path. Everything can be tested, even the strongest friendships.
Patrick/Kevin. Funnily, Kevin spoke a lot of truth, but also a lot of bull. They wouldn't have worked, end of story, and anyone with working brains saw that writing on the wall from the messy start. Even their talk in this episode illustrated it plainly. So much self-centeredness, lack of self-awareness and emotional manipulation always somehow seeping through with these two. All I have left to say about Kevin is, Poor Jon. That's one character that was royally screwed in this show. They couldn't even let him fade away with some dignity.
Tyne Daly. Nice.
Sneakily biggest scene. Patrick/Brady. It spoke of so much beyond them as characters and even beyond Richie. There was a lot of show meta, LGBT introspection and human nature fluidity encapsulated in that short-lived, seemingly rushed or out of place, but actually long built-up outburst. One of the things this show has done best, sliding a mirror in front of many, including itself, whether they want to admit/see it or not. Of course it didn't hurt that it was also a catalyst for Richie to finally let go with Brady. That wasn't doing him, Brady or anyone any favors in the long run. I don't think he was lying to himself or Brady for that matter, but he was "taking care of" something and wasn't driven by a pursuit of happiness there. One positive to Patrick's return.
Patrick. Change of scenery, but not so much the situation or even the person. Funny that he kind of needed everything and everyone around him to move on and evolve while staying in the same city before he truly now started doing the same, even if, as he said, he was the one who had taken the leap (or ran away, however you look at it) and left for a new life. Not quite there yet, still on his way and still so much to really earn.
Patrick/Richie. Unlike Patrick/Kevin, I feel like these two can always at least have an underlying honest friendship and genuinely wish the best for each other. Kevin talked about having learned from being with Patrick, but it rang so hollow, resentful and wrong, while you can actually see and believe that Richie and Patrick have learned from each other. It's been pretty obvious what Richie could bring to Patrick, but Richie's talk of his father and his self-eye opening respect for Patrick having the "guts" to leave San Fran show that they both can positively learn from each other in a way that can move each of them forward, whether it works romantically or not. We don't know where they'll end up, even geographically, but they'll likely have an actual appreciation for it.
Richie. My dear Richie. I wanted so much more for him (in terms of screen time too), and sure, Brady, whom I didn't find all that worse than any of them for that matter, wasn't it either - I think I was as bemused as Richie himself that they were still together. But what can you do? With that little nod at the end, the heart wants what it wants. And if the Brady thing is any indication, he may need to do this to truly be able to move forward in the future. Will he finally be “taken care of” as he had playfully hinted a need for when they first met and more seriously called back and let himself show his yearning for at the end of this movie? At least I know he can take care of himself if worse comes to worst. And no one knows better than him what he's getting himself into. "We're not the same person." "Of course I am [scared], I have met you." Perfect. I might have also resented the smile that he got from me when that "Pato" came out, lol.
San Fran. You flawed beauty.
In a finale that closed many chapters and wrapped a lot with (imperfect) bows, the tone ultimately still feels very open-ended and anything but certain. I guess you can call it life. Not perfect, not terrible. So long, Looking.
