How about "Wir sind Seed und das ist unser Gebiet, rockende Caballeros auf nem poppigen Beat, ja, Seed!". There is also a lot of German Rap. Which really mostly tries to imitate American rap, so there (ok, maybe more political). Some important names are Sammy Deluxe (I like Weck mich auf), Curse (I like "Lass uns doch Freunde sein"), Torch, Sido, Kool Savas. The utube channel tvdeutschrap has a selection. And of course the epic song of all lovesick German girls, Du Liebst Micht Nicht by Sabrina Setlur. I do want to mention the Autrian rap group Texta who did a song on the differences between German and Austrian slang called Sprachbarrieren: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RXXDWIkqysAnother Austrian (pop, not rap) is Christina Stürmer who sings the title song to AWZ. Her first hit single was Ich lebe. There is also pseudo medieval folk music that is usually in German too (it's ususually counted among Metal except it doesn't have, well, a lot of metal). The two main groups I know are Subway To Sally and In Extremo. Oh and a political song that ends up being played a lot of political student things is Keine Macht für Niemand by Ton Steine Scherben.

Ich kriege nie genug is lethal. That song will get in your head and stay there. My mind is currently occupied but the latest ATWT spoilers. I can't be alone with having that song being like a bad date or Jessica Alba movie.

I have a huge soft spot for Ich Lebe (even though it's kinda terrible) because the lyrics are just so insane. It's like beyond self-sacrificing un-independant.
"I live because you are my breath, I'm tired if you are the pillow, Thirsty if you are the water , to me you are my second self... You are the torture but I have always been a masochist. The bomb is ticking. You kidnapped me, you are a terrorist. [are you SURPRISED that the lyrics had to be changed in later versions? But why would anybody put that into a very fluffy popsong again?] You taste bittersweet. Suck on me like a vampire. I've been betwitched I just can't separate myself from you. etc"
It's totally one of those song where everybody just listens to the catchy chorus and after a while you go: "Wait a minute....!".

The male singer of Rosenstolz, Peter Plate, is gay and sort of a gay activist. He is living in a gay marriage. Their song "Willkommen" is used in the coming out movie "Sommersturm". (There are several clips of this movie at Youtube, e. g. here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgNDYNdZAoc. It is also interesting to check the comments of this clip . If I remember correctly, the movie was sponsored by the German government.) Tokio Hotel (like it oder hate it) Although TH are not my kind of band or music, I have to admit that they are really successful abroad, especially in France, Israel, and Canada. I read several times that a considerable number of girls in these countries are eager to learn German und attend German language classes in order to understand their song texts. Sounds familiar to us, doesn't it?

I'm trying to understand this song. And Google translate doesn't make sense. Can anyone help me out please? Thank you! Hier spricht die Straße ganz Deutschland hört uns zu - This is the street talking and all of Germany listens to us Wir sind die Zukunft die für die Jugend die Wahrheit sucht- We are the future searching the truth for the youth Die Straße ist endlos lang man hat uns echt verflucht- The road is endless, we were really cursed. Deutschland greift zum Kugelschreiber und schreibt es ins Tagebuch- Germany picks up the pen and writes it in the diary. (no possessive pronoun in that sentence, the online translator made that up) Hörst du wie die Straße ruft- Do you hear how the road is calling Mama hat gesagt das man sein Glück nich auf der Straße sucht = Mama said that one be lucky Nich searches on the street (What is the lucky nich?)- Mama said that you can´t search for your luck on the street. (there´s no lucky nich. Your translator just didn´t know what to do with "nich", that´s colloquial speech, grammatically right would be "nicht".) Die Straße - Straße is both, road and street. Wir verstehn uns alle Straßenjung Hans im Blut (What is/are Straßenjung Hans??) -It´s either: We all "conceive" ourselves as guttersnipe "Hans in blood" Or: We all get along. Straßenjung. Hans im Blut. My guess is on the first alternative. A Straßenjunge is a boy living in the streets. I suppose that "Hans in blood" refers to "Hans im Glück/Hans in luck". A fairytale by the Brothers Grimm See this link: www.authorama.com/grimms-fairy-tales-2.html "’How happy am I!’ cried he; ’nobody was ever so lucky as I.’ Then up he got with a light heart, free from all his troubles, and walked on till he reached his mother’s house, and told her how very easy the road to good luck was."Hope this will help.

No, this is just a wrong transcription of the lyrics. It should be "Wir verstehn uns alle, Straßenjungen hams im Blut" "Hams" is a colloquial contraction of "haben es" (i.e. have it). So it's something like "We understand each other, boys from the street have it in their blood" Just a general remark on the transcription: It doesn't feature any punctuation, which makes it a little harder for google translator, I guess.
