I thought this was the plan for James from the beginning, to be a temporary character. At least that's what I recall..
I really like Sean and Todd and Marcus (even with their faults) so I hope they'll continue to be featured. It would be great if Todd and Jools came back. The actor portraying Jools had great timing.

Considering how they ruined Todd I don't think we'll be seeing him again. That whole appearance seemed to exist just so they could say, "This is why he will never be in Weatherfield again."
I think there's a difference between temporary character and the unbelievable and miserable stuff they have with James. It makes him utterly pointless. Like most of the show these days, sadly.

I actually think Sean and Marcus are coping pretty well for being sudden full-time parents. I've seen a tiny baby send adults into a spasm because it's terrifying and exhausting to be responsible for a small child and definitely harder if you aren't prepared.
I just hope they can make it through this stronger and that Sean gets to continue to be a part of Dillon's life once Violet has recovered.
So glad Sean has his own storyline. Love him.

James Roache *swoon*
I appreciate what they're doing with his character (it shows that gay characters are like straight characters and can come in any form) but at the same time, it's such a waste that he doesn't have a romantic storyline. Perhaps he can have a redemption arc after this which could include a love interest
ETA: Come to think of it, I don't see why he couldn't have a love interest even with his current storyline. Could add an interesting dimension if the writers do it right

I thought James Roache is leaving the show? Correct me if I am wrong.

^What a waste. He is such a looker. Would have been great if he sticks around with a proper storyline. It seems like the UK soap writers have the problem of portraying gay couples. At last EastEnders is doing a not-bad job currently.

I think the Marcus and Sean storyline is not too bad either. Pretty realistic

I don't think two men who never kiss is all that realistic, not to mention that Marcus dumped Sean because Sean constantly doubted him and used him, and none of this was addressed when they got back together.
It seems like a waste to have made James Ken's grandson. He had little time at all being developed before he's suddenly a con artist, and not exactly a believable one either. The actor just seems to make strange faces in lieu of a performance.

I think it's a refreshing angle of a gay relationship Like I said, they should have just found him a BF

Recent spoilers have Sean's boyfriend Marcus becoming closer to Maria, and her son, and Sean being jealous.
I assume this will lead to Maria having a baby for Marcus and Sean (because the last surrogacy story with Sean was such a hit with fans), but I don't want to see that. Sean is a worthless character who is nasty to everyone. Marcus is wasted on him. Since this show consistently fails at giving gay characters anything but the worst writing (remember Ken's grandson? He doesn't either), I would be fine with Marcus and Maria getting involved. At least it would give Marcus something to do, and be a break from the usual shit on this show.

I concur about everything you said here. I literally can't stand Sean. He's an insufferable character, and he would probably be the only gay character I wouldn't mind if they killed off. Seriously.. he's a walking, talking, breathing gay stereotype. He annoys me to no end. I can't stomach him. Lets just kill him and save us all from the misery we're put through every time we have to see him on our screens. Bring back the hottie James and give him a story instead! He was actually an interesting gay character! The exact opposite of Sean, in other words.

I really like Sean and I'm constantly surprised at the ugly comments folks post about him. It's no meaner than any of the other characters on the show and he's actually a really good friend and a good dad. But he's not a cute little masc jock twink so I guess that makes him worthless. Sigh...

Sigh... Considering that Marcus isn't a "cute little masc jock twink," and yet seems popular, I don't see your point. Sean is an unpleasant character, selfish, played by a terrible actor. There isn't much reason to like him.
