What do you guys think of the speculation (purely speculative without any spoilers) that Adam and Todd will have an affair? The showrunner has form and the actors do have chemistry but will Corrie go there again? Ken already has one gay grandson; it's true he and his dad and sister have pretty much been wiped off canvas but they do exist. What are the odds of another gay grandson? I would love it (especially with hunky Sam back in the role) but can't honestly see Corrie giving it the go-ahead.

Curious questions, how is Corrie these days? The show lost me when it turned Marcus straight. I haven't watched it since.

If we could decide who we loved, it would be much simpler, but less magical.

Oh please not an affair storyline, too cliche and Todd and Billy are really great together. There are more to gay couples or soap couples for that matter than affairs. What about careers, family members, an illness, them getting their own place (swinging that past the church), wanting to get married and how they would deal considering the church view on their relationship. There could be more than just the repeat of some pointless affair.

I just entered to this Todd & Billy world like 1 or 2 months ago and I finally started to watch their story from the beginning ... I like it! By the way, the actor who played Todd's brother, Jason, is quite HOT ...

I'm surprised that Summer didn't try to use proper hair dye from the shops instead of concocting one of her own. She's young and super smart, but you would think she would be old enough to know better.

It's a very bad defence and Todd is the most important character of his career. Nobody is going to believe such defence because he played the character for years, and even being way younger, without the characters "affecting" his decisions. If he is no able to beheave when he is drunk he should stop drinking

I read there was rape Friday and watched it then. I do not know what to make of this. The hot one, Josh, is he closeted, does identify as straight? He is hot. Good face, good body. He could get much better looking guys. What does he want with David? I would understand if it was about dominance, revenge or the sexual, criminal desire to rape or whatever but it seemed like maybe Josh is in love with David.
There is an official clip actually.

There is nothing gay about this storyline. He's a rapist. Rape is about power. David is not gay. Josh is not gay. Maybe we need a different thread for this storyline if folks want to talk about it. It could be triggering for some.

It could be triggering for some. I'm not sure why this particular discussion should be spun off into its own thread when we didn't do that for similar stories on Hollyoaks and Emmerdale. I agree that male rape is not a gay storyline, anymore than male-female rape is a "straight" storyline. However, Josh is definitely gay. He is attracted to men. He even admits his interest in women is feigned to throw people off from his homosexuality (and therefore identifying a reason for his rape of unavailable, straight men). Unfortunately, rape is not always solely about power; it can also incorporate an element of sexual attraction. Josh was attracted to David, knew he stood no chance of bedding him naturally because David was straight, and so decided to drug him. Josh is a villain who happens to be gay. I don't feel it's any reason to get up in arms about negative portrayals of gay men. Corrie has two other gay male characters (as well as two bisexual women). Gay characters can also be villains.

I don't feel it's any reason to get up in arms about negative portrayals of gay men. Corrie has two other gay male characters (as well as two bisexual women). Gay characters can also be villains. The story isn't about Josh it's about David Platt. David Platt is the reason for the story (like Brendan, John Paul and Aaron were the reasons for those stories). Josh is a means to an end. A plot device. He is not a central character. Even Finn wasn't a central character in the story about John Paul being raped. The show never delved into Finn's psyche because it wasn't about Finn, it was about his victims (John Paul and Nancy). If Josh had raped Billy or Todd or Billy or Todd had raped David I'd understand it being discussed here as they are gay characters. Rape is about power and violence, period. It is not a sexual act it is a violent assault. The fact that a rapist is attracted to their victim does not make a difference. It is still an act of violence, power, control and every sociologist, psychologist, law enforcement office would say so. I'm shocked folks still think rape is about sexual attraction in 2018. How the rapist explains the rape is irrelevant. Rapists explain away their behavior in all kinds of way (Gordon, Finn, Brendan's father, etc) I never said a word about negative portrayal of gay men so I don't know where that is coming from (at the time there was no indication Josh was gay but his being gay doesn't change how I feel). I think ALL portrayals of gay men are valid if they are realistic and well-written. Again, if Billy or Todd has raped David or vice versa, then I would get talking about it here. I just feel THIS story is about David, not Josh and David is not gay. Having said that I will just leave y'all too it and mind my own business. Carry on.

I wish they would bring the character Todd back, but played by another actor. It feels wrong that he's not with Billy, Summer, and Eileen.
