Oh Glee... you are yummy goodness. I totally enjoyed the premiere episode. I need to see it again but I actually laughed out loud a few times. Like with Finn's memory that makes him not erupt. Loved Push It and Golddigger. I really thought the last song by Lea Michelle was great but I don't know what it's called. Now I need to go watch it again. ;D I also enjoyed it and will definitely be watching this season. ;D Bonobochick, I think Lea sang Rihanna's "Take a bow." I'm so in love with Finn and Will

I still love it, but it bothers me that both love stories involve a nice guy dating a henpecking nag while he yearns for the nice guy. Combined with two female teachers: a nice, quiet, unaggressive teacher and a mean-sprited witch who twists people's words to create an illusion of sexism, there's a danger of a very real (if unintended) sexist message running through.
Course-correcting the pregnancy storyline from the pilot is smart, since it would have been virtually impossible to like him otherwise. But I would rather they had just quickly dropped it. The fake pregnancy is a little too straight-up soap opera, I think.

Well, Ryan Murphy was the executive producer of Nip/Tuck. I expect some dark elements and some soapy elements in the show. That memory that Finn uses to not erupt early totally reeked of RM's sense of humor that I got when watching N/T. RM's never been great with writing women, but I am willing to give it a few more episodes before I start to frown. Rachel's got some more layers now but I'd like to see some more from Mercedes since Tina is still more of a background character at the moment. I don't feel as badly for Finn about his girlfriend being a bitch as I do Will with his wife and I don't see the henpecking as much with Finn as I do unsubtle manipulation using sex even though Quinn won't give it up do to her purity pledge. (Now there's an odd sentence! ) Was I the only one who started dancing/moving along to 'Golddigger'? Props to the cast members on that number, especially Matthew Morrison and Amber Riley. And if they plan to do more dance numbers, they should showcase Kurt & his hips and not Finn & his lack of rhythm. Here's a good summary of the characters and cast info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characters_of_Glee

RM doesn't only have a bad track record on women, but also, ironically, on gay men as well. N/T was...appalling in depicting gay men despite the bromance.
When watching the premier episode, I was peeved with the scene where the wife said the frilly room would be for a daughter or gay son. Very odious stereotyping; since it specifically said gay son not son (and thus creating a gap between straight men and gay men, which doesn't need to be widened into further exclusion to begin with), it wasn't even brave in taking on gender stereotypes.
Besides that, I will probably get annoyed by the cliche storyline where Kurt crushes on a straight guy and gets in trouble. I'm tired of the gay male always falls for the unavailable and remains single so as not to offend an intolerant gay audience with gay PDA/coupling. Gay, but asexual.
Nevertheless, I adore Jane Lynch and Rachel's actress; she's so pretty, that I can't believe they're depicting her as intimidated by that twiggly, dull, insipid cheerleader. Her ethnic features are lovely, and her hair so pretty (envious!).
And then there's Matthew on a tub, nude *fangirlish squeal*

That line was actually one thing that didn't bother me. She's obnoxious enough that pretty much anything she says is automatically disqualified. It's like objecting to Hitler making racist comments in a film. If that woman said water was wet, I might run to the sink to double check. Also, if the line was changed to "daughter or son," it would lose the whole point of the line. Even if I were offended, it would be better to take it out to PC it to the point that it no longer makes sense.

That line was one that I laughed the most at, just because it was such an over-the-top play at stereotypes -- which is what this show is all about right now. If anything, it made me like Terri a bit more because it's like she's hoping to have a gay son. And it's a little endearing that, you know, paiting the obviously staged room blue never even crossed her mind. I think eventually they will have to bring in some humanity for everyone so that we can actually start to care for them, but for now I'm quite content to enjoy the obvious types they are playing and to giggle at all the lines they throw away. And hell, if every show ends in a kick-ass rendition of a song I already like, bring it on. I think if anything, I was a little taken aback at how quickly the "Rachel-falls-for-Finn"/"Emma-falls-for-Will" became front and centre. I thought those would be things that played out and stewed over the first few episodes. I guess this lets us get them out of the way for a while so we can revisit them in time for mid-season.

I thought those would be things that played out and stewed over the first few episodes. I guess this lets us get them out of the way for a while so we can revisit them in time for mid-season. I was a bit surprised that both were pushed to the forefront so early but I too believe that they're going to pop up again, especially with that line from Rachel confronting Finn that was in the preview. And hey, driving is fun. I am not sure what to think with fake baby situation with Will & his wife but she's got to know she won't be able to carry it off. (That plot is so N/T-like to me). I actually enjoyed Ken's speech to Emma about why she should consider him as boyfriend/husband material cause since he's a minority, he will never be fired. Welcome to being a GLEEk, Amber. Here's a gallery of things from the most recent episode: gawker.com/5356474/glee-you-put-on-quite-a-show/gallery/

The other aspect of the wife's comments is that while it may be offensive to some that she assumes her gay son would want a frilly room, the fact is she assuming she could have a daughter or a GAY SON with no negative connotation. It's like, oh, I'm prepared for all eventualities. THAT is a good thing in my book.
Of course not every gay son (or most gay sons) are going to like girly things because he's gay. But most girls don't like that crap now a days either (most teen girls I know would want black walls and skulls all over everything) and some gays sons would KILL for a canopy bed, etc.
I'm just saying, the fact that folks are anticipating a gay child is kinda awesome even if she is a cracked out nutjob gold-digger.

Ok, I admit listening to my own collection of songs so I'd missed Rihanna's Take A Bow when it must have been all over the radio that Lea Michele sang on the show at the end of the last episode. It's not bad but I find I like LM's version better than Rihanna's. I like Rihanna's music in general from the few songs I've heard but not really her version of this song. Fox posted this preview song/scene which reveals something I admit I totally missed. I think it's from the next episode:

I liked it though it wasn't my favorite episode so far. I have to admit to laughing out loud with "Poison". That took me back to jr high school. So Kurt does like Finn. Somehow, I really think Kurt would have a better chance with Puck. Dunno why but ... Anyhoo, why does it come across that Finn and Quinn aren't even dating though they are? He spent almost all of his girl time mooning or giving the eye to Rachel. I thought best vocal was "Bust Your Windows". Best routine? "Mercy". Loved the Josh Groban cameo. ;D

Yeah, Bust Your Windows was incredible; that girl can wipe the dance floor with anyone in the show.
Matthew, as usual, sexy.
I'm so sad they made Puck so blatantly straight. That man is so fine, I really wanted him to be a closet case for Kurt. Alas, he's a Cougar-lover ;*(. Again, that man is so fine.

Thought it was very good! Not my favorite so far either, but still very good and enjoyable! Loved 'Bust Your Windows'; that girl is amazing. Kurt coming out to Mercedes was very sweet, Josh Groban was funny and Matthew/William is so sexy indeed! He makes even the dorky stuff look very, very sexy.
