He's straight. Love interest is female.

What I said might be wrong after all SoapSquawk (which is where I read about it) claim he's a ladies man, but the DS mods say there is no mention of that in the BBC press release and to 'make of that what you will'

Ben's new love interest is revealed - and surprising just about no one, it's newbie Paul Coker, Les and Pam's grandson. EE's trailer for the summer is focused mainly on Shabnam/Kush/Stacey/Martin, but there's also snippets of Abby trying to seduce Ben, Pam and Les greeting Paul, and Paul snogging Ben.

Ben didn't look happy about the kiss. I hope this was on purpose and Harry Reid can do better. Much better, preferably

Don't get your hopes up too high, he (and Paul) barely feature in the trailer.

I suspect the storyline will be less about Ben and Paul and more about Ben's entanglement with Abi.

YAY, I'm so happy that Ben is FINALLY getting a love interest! It's about damn time imo. I still miss Johnny though

When they reduced Johnny's Coming Out to just a few episodes I thought it was a sign that at least Eastenders was done with long drawn out closet dramas.
Why is Jay telling Ben to stop meeting guys? Isn't Jay against the closet thing?
For a moment I was really amazed when Paul and Ben kissed. That's how good it could be. I forgot how horrible Ben is. Now I remember this is Eastenders and it's back to more of Ben pretending to be straight.

Since Lola is leaving, how are the chances of Lexi staying with Ben?

Please no. Lola can take the baby and leave. No teenage boys raising children, thanks!

It was Brian Kirkwood, not DTC, who made Syed a father, was it? He also gave John Paul on Hollyoaks a child. He must have been Executive Producer when Ben got Lola pregnant as well. He's probably responsible for the majority of the kids with gay dads on British soaps. Under DTC I guess the chance isn't very high.
Anyway, what's wrong with Ben raising his kid? She is his after all. He is a teenage dad. If he's a rubbish dad then his streak of being a horrible person continues. If he turns out to be a good dad he finally gets something right.

Hey, Ben and Paul will finally be on again next week. Long overdue. Now they're going to be caught by Phil. Something like that had to happen eventually, but I would have liked to see more build up first. Or, you know, much of anything else for the guys. As it is, we've gotten so little relationship development for them it makes it hard to care. EastEnders story line pacing for either of them sucks.

Thanks for the spoiler pic, Haru.
I really hope that Ben just comes out again. I'm quite tired of him sitting in the closet the way he has. That's another plot line that hasn't moved anywhere meaningful in far too long. I won't hold my breath, though, knowing how EastEnders paces things.

Will Paul’s secret involving Ben help Les and Pam build bridges?
There might still be a way to go but we think Les and Pam might soon realise they can’t stand in the way of true love…

So ... is Paul going to tell them that he's in love with Ben? If so it would've been nice to get more of that build-up on screen.

Oh, I hope not. My first thought after reading that was she would break up with him before he could break up with her. But if she's desperate to hold on to him... So Ben is going to buy a gift for Paul? I wonder what it is.

Well even if she is pregnant, Ben doesn't have to continue to date her. Abi has an entire family who could take care of her and Ben already has one child he can't deal with. Besides Abi being pregnant won't make Ben any less gay.

Ben already has a child right Yes. He has a daughter with Lola who moved up North. It was a one night stand from Ben trying to prove he was straight. Lola knew immediately that Ben was gay. She was actually really good for him, because she tried to tell Abi the truth about ben and tried to get Ben to come clean with Abi before she left. I also really liked her and Jay together although part of me feels like Jay never stopped being in love with Abi and they will wind up together again some day. It's strange because though Ben believes he would "embarrass" his family the only person in his family who had EVER had a problem with him being gay is Phil and that dodgy great aunt of theirs. Literally every other Mitchell has been supportive of Ben. I don't know how "Grant Mitchell" will figure in because I've never seen that character on screen. His sister seems like a nightmare but really I can't see why he would care what she thinks. In fact, I feel like the ONLY thing Ronnie and Roxy were good at was being really kind and supportive to Ben. There is NO WAY Ronnie would let Phil abuse Ben again. I mostly can't deal with Ronnie but she is fiercely protective of her family. And now that Kathy is back, Ben would have a lot of support. I don't know why Ben doesn't just get an apartment with Katy and Jay.

I'm so excited to have Johnny back! It's about damn time! I had the feeling he'd be back after a few casual mentions on the show. It's just what happened before they brought Ben back too. I always said that I wanted Johnny back, whether or not that was with the original actor. I had a feeling Sam Strike wouldn't be back as he left so abruptly, but if not him then someone else. And it seems like I get my wish, so I'm thrilled!
I wonder what they'll do with Johnny though? What plans do they have for him? He was supposed to be involved with Ben, right? And that's why they brought in Paul when Johnny left, so Ben would have a love interest. I wonder if the new Johnny will get between Ben and Paul and we'll have a love triangle? Would be interesting. I feel like they wouldn't really know what to do with them after Ben tells Abi and Phil. So this might create some new drama for them.

While it is exciting to have Johnny back - I am disappointed that it will be a recast and not have Sam Strike back. I think you are right Overtherainbow -- wow, it opens up some fun possibilities like love triangles - let's hope the show actually does something interesting with it (and in a timely fashion no less) instead of their normal dragging out of storylines and overpromising of things getting interested. Apologies to anyone offended - I do enjoy Eastenders' gay storylines - I just find them a bit disappointing in the way they are developed.
