Berlin – Over time are at “Good times Bad Times” same-sex relationships have been discussed again and again. Now there could finally be a new big LGBTQ story in the daily soap, at least if the fans have their way.
Franzi and Paula found each other in 2008, Lenny and Carsten met and fell in love in 2010 and finally Jasmin could no longer resist Anni’s advances in 2017.
However, since then it has become pretty quiet about homosexual partnerships between main characters in the TV series.
In 2020, Moritz Bode opened a new figure in the Kolle-Kiez who is openly gay, but Yvonne’s son has not yet had a serious relationship. Rather, he always has short affairs with changing partners.
But that could change soon, because Moritz has had a real crush for the first time since arriving in Berlin.
Unfortunately, his chosen one is Luis, of all people, who is with Miriam and therefore apparently not homosexual.
Nevertheless, the scriptwriters keep letting the sparks fly between the two of them, like recently in a scene in which Luis Moritz talks about the first kiss with his girlfriend.
Whether the whole thing remains a one-sided matter or whether Nina’s son still has to be clear about his feelings, the makers leave open for now.
In any case, many GZSZ fans would be happy if the two actually got together: “Too cute the two !!

Current status: Until Christmas, there isn't much development for this storyline. Moritz continues to pine after Luis and tries to get him out of his head.
He also is involved in another story with his mother Yvonne going blind and his friends (including Luis) are helping him to deal with it. IMO, this storyline is doing Moritz a lot of favours, because up until now he mostly had an egoistical, semi-villainous role. He is not as bad as Ringo in Unter uns during his worst times, but he is mostly selfish and out purely for himself, his enjoyment and making money. Yonne's blindness is the first story that shows Moritz caring for someone and trying to help them. So I really appreciate this as a story to make him more nuanced.
However, there seems to be pretty interesting stuff coming up, which ties deeply into the show's past and, while not directly involving Moritz and Luis yet, very likely will feature both of them sooner or later (if the speculations are true, but it seems very likely to me):
Actor Matthias Unger is definitely shooting in the film studios in Babelsberg and probably shooting for GZSZ. A decade ago, Unger played criminal businessman Bajan Linostrami, a murderer, drug dealer, kidnapper and mobster boss. He was finally convicted to ten years imprisonment for kidnapping Jo Gerner's sons Dominik and Patrick for ransom, having Dominik physically tortured and causing him significant mental trauma. Gerner was the driving force in getting Linostrami into prison and Linostrami sweared revenge.
Since the ten years are indeed over even without Soaps playing losely with time, a return of Linostrami would make sense. And as I mentioned, Moritz is now Gerner's stepson, so this could already involve him. As an aside, the fact that we actually saw Linostrami in a flashback a few episodes ago while not seeing him for like ten years speaks volumes that the theory is true, IMO.
More importantly, however, we have learned that Luis' current girlfriend Miriam is actually from a rich family, has fled that family and doesn't want anything to do with them. In the episode airing yesterday on TVNow (next week on RTL) we see Miriam having a nightmare in which two mobsters take Miriam as a child away from her mother and presumably to her father. We also saw her reacting shocked when meeting Gerner for the first time and googling for pictures including Dominik and Patrick on the internet. So speculation is, that she's actually Linostrami's daughter, who escaped from her father's family.
So if Linostrami is back, Luis and Moritz will probably get involved into the storyline from not one but two sides. Though they won't be the only one, as this story might involve a lot of cast members. |

It could be a very slow burn with Luis and Moritz, or it could be heading nowhere. (Although, if it's going nowhere, the least they could do is give us some Ringo-Valentin daydreams like in Unter Uns, rather than Mackenzie-Aaron in Emmerdale.)

Daydreams are unlikely right now, if they include physical contact. Since the pandemic, there have been basically no kiss scenes at all in GZSZ, Alles was Zählt or Unter uns with very few exceptions (like two or three per soap since spring 2020), before which the actors had been in self chosen quarantine. Therefore I don't think they will add a kiss scene as a hallucination in this situation, if they don't even add "real" ones.

Moritz wants to distract himself from his feelings for Luis and uses the opportunity to get closer to Fabio again. At the rave there is an erotic moment that Luis of all people is watching. Luis holds Moritz's gaze for a moment before turning away. To Moritz's surprise, Luis reacts cooly, which leads him to make a thoughtless comment. In order not to risk anything, Moritz enters into a relationship with Fabio. |

Yeah, I really wish there was somewhere to follow the German soaps' gay stories with English subtitles. None of the American soaps have any gay couples, British soaps still have gay characters but their stories are decidedly lackluster, same for Neighbours and Shortland St kicked out all but one gay character.

The guy at the beginning tells Moritz that he likes him, but then Moritz rejects him. Then when he stumbles into Luis' flat Luis offers him a coffee. Then the other guy shows up and tells Moritz to forget what he said, then tells him that he's an arsehole. Then Luis asks Moritz if he has a headache, and Moritz responds that he sees very clearly what he wants, and says „You don't get it, do you?". Then at the end he says “you..." |

I haven't watched the episodes yet, due to having a lot of work to do right now, and don't know what happens exactly. But there was a kiss scene between them this week. Which came pretty surprising, giving Covid restrictions. It probably means that both were in quarantine before shooting the scene. You can see short gifs of that scene on tumblr under the gzsz hashtag.
