As far as I know there is a fairly long history between them. She is from a wealthy background and looked down on Syed's family and broke Syed's heart. She has now wheedled her way back into Syed's life because it seems her father has stopped her allowance.

i never noticed that lol  then again it was pretty rare that i was home to watch them I will admit sometime i did go home for a bit for Hollyoaks..lol , though i do love british tv for giving us recaps sunday mornings ;D |

This story seems to be going by quickly. I agree - the lead up to them kissing all seems a bit "out of the blue". I'm thinking that the "real" story here is not the romance ( if there is one) between Christian & Syed but how Syed copes with his feelings and his religion. |

I wish they could find better use for Christian. If this isn't going to be a relationship, if he is only in this story because he's the only other gay man on the show is disappointing, it's not like gay men all fancy each other. They could have brought in an old friend of Syed's he had feelings for, or an old flame. If it is going to be a relationship I hope they build up more of a bond between Christian and Syed. Goodness knows they have enough time to devote to horrible couples like Jack and Ronnie. Thank you for the photos, Ivan. |

This is pure speculation - but they have made quite an issue of late about Christian's age and lack of partner / fullfillment in life yadda yadda yadda.........
............I'm hoping that the angst of Syed might pull Christian along with the storyline into falling in love and having to fight for his man etc etc etc
EE is quite renowned for storyarcs that are in for the long haul.

Yeah, that's why I got hooked on EE. I used to love their stories that built for years and had repercussions. Some of that, like what happened to Kathy's daughter Donna, is still online. Their current producer, Diedrick Santer, isn't good at that type of thing, but hopefully some of the writers who have been with EE for a long time can help build the story. |

Wow! That was fast!! Thanks for the new clip final81. I didn't expect them to share a kiss so fast. And I thought the storyline is gonna be built up slowly, and out of nowhere a kiss happen. If the producers are smart, they could have handle both issues together (maybe not concurrently, but subsequently) (ie. Syed struggling with his sexuality and religion and a full-blown relationship between Syed and Christian after Syed makes his decision to be gay). At least, we can have more things to look forward to. And to be honest, does anyone know how long the actor playing Syed is contracted for? I mean if we know the duration of his contract, then we can at least make an inference on how far both Syed and Christian can go in this particular storyline. And thanks for the caps IvanIV. John Paltridge is well-buff!! Can't wait for the next installment! |

I can't believe that UK which is supposed to be a more liberal country than USA and supposedly more tolerant to gays are making such a big fuss over a gay kiss. LAME! I hope something good will come out of this storyline. If it's gonna turn out to be the crappy ending Kieron got on Hollyoaks. I'm gonna boycott this show! Hahhaha.

meidocfan: To be honest, I don't see why the Muslim community should make a huge fuss out of a TV depiction of a Muslim. It's just a character who is Muslim and just happened to be gay. I find it amusing that people chose to ignore the fact that there are gay Muslims just because it doesn't bode well with the religion. Selective much? And thanks for the clip. I wish there were more understanding and less judgmental people around. People can have their faith but they shouldn't shove their faith into other people. Anyway, I have re-watched the clips again. I like the bantering between Syed's mom, Ameera and Christian. It's funny. I can't wait for the next installment.

I can't find a link but someone on Digital Spy said this was a quote from the producer, Santer:
‘This is not a story about Syed and Christian’s physical realtionship – we don’t see anything beyond one kiss. It’s more about the inner turmoil and conflict Syed endures trying to remain true to his faith while questioning his sexuality.’
I don't understand why showing two men kiss would have to be about their physical relationship. It's not like they are going to be having sex on the kitchen table. Whether this story is actually about them as a couple or not, after all the time Christian has spent on the backburner, in spite of how popular he is with fans, I hope they have more for him than just being used to further Syed's story.
