Right after this Lucas and Menno hear something outside the room and they're startled. Lucas wants to hide behind the curtain. In a later scene Lucas says there are enough places where nobody knows them. Menno then says: "Lucas, it's this or nothing."

June 4 spoilers:

Wiet gets herself in trouble when she defends Noud. Rikki thinks Wiet's behavior is suspicious and wants to know what's going on. Anton's patience with Sjoerd is gone. Mike tries to get near Nola through Noud. Menno tries to calm Lucas down when he's upset.

I did some Twitter research and I think Dave might still be filming for GTST. If that's true then we'll at least see him after the summer cliffhanger as well. But why do I think he's still filming? I came across a tweet from Dave that he tweeted on May 10:

"Last couple of days of the vacation! #gtst"

On May 13 the vacation for GTST's cast and crew was over. Coincidence? I don't think so. Especially not with the use of the GTST hashtag.

Something else:
Yesterday morning Ferry and Menno tweeted around the same time that it was very early in the morning. Dave also added that he was working from 7 til 7.


Just to be clear: this is not a confirmation. Dave is working on more than project at the same time. So we'll still have to wait and see what happens. But I'm optimistic. For now.

Voice over: Since last month Dave Mantel is investigating his colleagues as State Police detective Menno Kuiper. A dream job he has wanted for years.

Dave: "I've auditioned before. Once. For the role of Danny. I think that was four years ago. I was close to getting it. It was between me and Jan."

Voice over: Now he did get it and the newest addition is making a lot of hours in his police investigation. Especially Aysen Baydar isn't able to get out of his interrogation.

Dave: "Menno doesn't see it that way. That he's making Aysen's life a hell. He comes to Meerdijk to do his job and that's not personal. He tries to get the facts to the surface."

Voice over: Between all the investigating Menno does have time for a romantic kissing scene with Ferry Doedens as Lucas. And that's not a problem for him.

Dave: "Whether you have to be in love with a guy, a girl... or a banana. If they want you to play that you play it. I got lucky because Ferry is great and really nice to have as a scene partner. And he's a great kisser. That helps. You never think... 'Do I have to kiss him again?'"

Voice over: If the hunk is going to continue his investigations in Meerdijk in the future is still one big cliffhanger.

Dave: "Whether it's a guest role or a permanent role... I'm not allowed to say anything about that. But I'm definitely enjoying it."

Dave: "Menno is definitely part of the cliffhanger."

I think so, yeah. In an earlier post I wrote how I think Dave is still working at GTST (and the cliffhanger was filmed in April).

We now know Menno will be part of the cliffhanger this year. That has probably something to do with Aysen. I wonder if Menno will be in danger because of her. Maybe they're not telling us if he's a permanent role or not because they don't want to reveal the outcome of that cliffhanger. But like I already said, I think Dave is also filming for season 24.

Thanks Mark for the translation. I love an actor that doesn't mind doing same sex scenes. That just makes me like them even more. I would love it if he became a regular. I think him and Ferry have chemistry, I love what he said about Ferry being a good kisser.

Hmm... Considering the fate of humanity depends on Aysen meeting justice, I've gotta believe the writers are going to have Aysen leave at some point and then there's an opening for Menno. Since the show needs a new alpha male cop, Meeno would definitely get a lot of use as a permanent cast member. The story possibilities if Menno leaves and Aysen stays seem rather stale in comparison.

Aysen staying would be problematic since I'm pretty sure Nuran now knows that Aysen killed Danny. I guess there could be a story about the sisters' relationship with Nuran knowing the truth. But Danny was Rik's brother, so it seems like Aysen's role in his death is bound to be exposed. I wouldn't be surprised if ultimately it looks like Aysen is going to get away with everything, but it is Nuran who exposes her - the one factor she didn't account for.

Nuran does know the truth about what happened to Danny. She agreed to not tell anyone about it, but she also decided that she no longer wants to have Aysen in her life. She told Rik this is because Aysen doesn't support their marriage, but Rik is suspicious. So I do think Nuran might be the one who exposes the truth about Danny's death. Nuran seems like a time bomb that can go off any moment.

She pushed Danny when he was at the top of the stairs. This after breaking and entering into his home. This definitely qualifies as murder, at least in the U.S. I think the breaking and entering part would make it impossible to rule it a manslaughter. It shows malice. Of course, nobody knows she broke into Danny's home. And nobody saw her push him. Did she tell Nuran everything? Nuran's testimony might be the only way Aysen gets convicted. But maybe Menno will discover some surveillance video of Aysen breaking into Rick and Danny's place.

I watched the episode again and I still think it's manslaughter. I think for murder it should have been Aysen's intention to kill Danny. That the reason she was there was to kill him. And I don't believe it was.

Just to be clear, I'm not defending that psycho girl. I think she should go to jail for several years. There's no excuse. She broke into the apartment. She had no reason to be there. And she should have known that Danny wouldn't be happy to see her there. She should have left when Danny told her so.

I did a Wikipedia search and I saw there are two different versions of manslaughter. Voluntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter. I think voluntary manslaughter is what happened with Aysen and Danny:

"Voluntary manslaughter occurs either when the defendant kills with malice aforethought (intention to kill or cause serious harm), but there are mitigating circumstances which reduce culpability, or when the defendant kills only with an intent to cause serious bodily harm."

I also saw that for manslaughter in the Netherlands you can get a prison sentence of 15 years. Not sure if that information is still accurate. I think Aysen, because she covered it up and planted false evidence, should get the maximum sentence.

Oh well, I'm not a legal expert. And the legal system on soaps can be different than the legal system in real life. The important thing is that Aysen will be caught. ;D
