Now it's time of nominations for cinema awards. Today, two of the young actors of BCN ciutat neutral, Bernat Quintana and Diana Gomez (Maria), have red the nominations for the Gaudi awards (of the Catalan cinema academy, the Catalan Oscars). The own miniseries BCN ciutat neutral has been nominated in the category of best TV movie.

MARC CLOTET has been chosen as one of the four nominated for the best new actor, in the Goya awards (the Spanish oscars), for his character Paulino in La Voz Dormida. Next February 18, in the Goya's Gala, the winners will be known. The movie has another 8 nominations (best film, best director, best main actress, best new actress, best supporting actress, best adapted screenplay, best song and best constumes). I think it's almost sure the award of the best new actress (Maria León) and best song (the wonderful Nana de la Hierbabuena, the Mint Lullaby). This is the song, sung for the own actress Inma Cuesta, also nominated for the best actress.

I post the link with Erika's Japanese blog because it has the pics of all the finalists. And a radio interview (in Catalan) with Marc and two other finalists: Jan Cornet (also for the best new actor, for his character in Almodovar's "La piel que habito"); and the director of "Eva" a science fiction movie. There is a pic of Marc in the radio station, and it looks like Iago! He says he's happy to be chosen, and for him, the only selection is already an award because it's almost his first movie (his character in 1000 Cretins was short). He also says he's waiting for the begining of the shootting of the miniseries Gernika, also about the Spanish Civil War, where he has a wonderful character.

Iritalia, we have now images of Marc with long and short hair. It seems he cut his hair for going to the Goya Award Gala! What do you prefer?

Marc in the cover of the sunday review of the main Spanish liberal newspaper (as the NY Times), El País. In a report about the new faces of the Spanish movies, all of them known for TV series. With another 4 finalists for the awards, among them, the two main actress of his movie; one of them, María Leon, who plays his beloved, won the award for the best new actress. Unfortunately, Marc didn't get it. The award for the best new actor went to Jan Cornet, for his character in Almodovar's La piel que habito (The skin I live in).

Hi!

I have some news about both Marc and Bernat.

Marc continues waiting Gernika's miniseries's shooting. And now he's doing a short about violence against women, "Cicatrices" (Scars). He has shot some scenes in a very beautiful place, an old mill that now is a hotel in the mountain. In the Facebook page of the hotel, "Molino El Salobre, there are some pics of the shooting and the actors, Marc among them:

Bernat is doing perfomances of Much Ado About Nothing, and has started the rehearses of Cyrano de Bergerac. This is the web page of the company, La Perla 29. The venue of La Perla 29's performances is the Library of Catalonia, a beautiful gothic building (XV century).

I think Bernat will play the handsome young Christian. Because in the La Perla web, the cast is in alphabetical order, but in a newspaper article about the starting of the rehearses, there is another order and he's the third named, after the main actor (Pere Arquillué) and the main actress (Marta Betriu). This Tuesday, several actors of "Much Ado About Nothing" went to the high school of the town where tomorrow they're playing it. A teacher of this place (Instituto Cirvianum, of Torelló, near Barcelona) toke and hanged this pic in her twitter:

Yes, Bernatfan, it's just because the hair flip that I recognized Bernat as the young man in black. And it shows it's a Bernat's gesture, and not only a Max's one. Despite in the series, it had some meanings (f.e. troubled, as when Iago decided to come out specially to Sergi the cop and kissed him at Peris).

About Marc this Tuesday he was in a show in a Catalan TV station. The interview with him was very interesting. The topic was obscenity. They talked about the reactions toward the Jennifer Lopez's "Dance again" clip. The interviewer said obscenity is in the gaze of the viewer, and not in the maker. Marc agrees, and the interviewer says Marc has done some scenes in some series that some people could think they're obscene, but Marc didn't think it when he shot it. Marc agrees and says has made many scenes of that kind. As what he did with Bernat Quintana in El Cor.

Then, they remembered another series with problems of this kind: Fisica o Quimica, and the news from Italy about the suspension of its re-broadcasting because "it spreads homosexuality and depraved sexual behavior". "You're banned in Italy, Marc!", they said. Marc defended the series. There were some strong topics and scenes, but the series was useful for parents to talk about these topics with their sons and daughters. He also says he thinks the series isn't perfec and some things could have been better made. Then the interviewer said, for example, Marc allways are seen in underwere and it seems he was contracted for doing it. Marc says it was only at the beginning, and he thinks there were more reasons, because after his first shirt-off, if he wouldn't have anything else to offer, he shouldn't continue being contracted. But it's true the channels show bodies to get audience.

When the interviewer asked him if he lets to be used this way, he says that less and less. "It isn't for sense of decency, it must be well made and having sense". And explains that when he started to do casting in Madrid (coming from Barcelona, where he was playing his wanderful Iago), he was shocked when he was asked to shirt-off (then, the interviewer asked him if it was a man, or a woman, who asked him, and he says a woman, but for being necesary for his character in El Comisario (the series he did before FoQ, where he played a cop). But he thinks sex scenes can be beautifully shotted with naked bodies without showing everything (it depends on the ability of cameramen), and it's better than show people making love in underwere, or after sex, fully covered with a sheet.

Afterwards, they talk about Jennifer Lopez, who did his husband to appear in her clip; so, first she has sex and after, does the clip. Madonna, instead, first shoots the clips and after, she wants to have with men from her clips.

The following topic was Marc's private life. He's happily married and papparazzi and reviews publish lies about him (a pregnacy of his wife and a crisis with her that didn't happen). Marc says it happens not only to him, but to friends of him, and it makes him distrust about what is published.

He's also asked about his new projects. A movie that is in postproduction, "La Estrella". And he's preparing his character for a TV movie "Gernika" that is to been shooting, about an episode of the Spanish Civil War (like La Voz Dormida), the symbolic bombing of the town of Gernika (maybe the reason of his beard!).

When he's asked about shooting out of Spain, and about his web page prepared to have an English version, he says he studied business and has made of himself a product to be sold. And he thinks in South America, for example, a great market for this product. And maybe in Hollywood? And acting is like other professions, it needs hard work because there are many people who could do it better than you, and each year that passes, younger people could get what you have. So Marc (32 next April 29th) asks mature characters (as father of family).

Today it's Sant Jordi's Day (Saint George), in Catalonia is like Valentine, the day of love. For this reason, this week the review TimeOut Barcelona shows to the couples all kind of ways to celebrate it. And has this cover, with Aina Clotet (Marc's sister) and Nausícaa Bonnin (who played Sandra in El Cor, and also started with Bernat "Barcelona ciutat neutral"):






There are some news about our boys.

Bernat and Alex Rengel (who played the second David in El Cor) are preparing a business together, a bar called "Can Vermut" in Menorca, a Spanish island of the Baleares in the Mediterranean Sea. They open it next May 19th at noon. Few days after, May 23th, he starts the perfomances of Cyrano de Bergerac.

Next April 26th, the town of Gernika celebrates 75 years of his bombing by the nazis during the Spanish Civil War. And one of the commemoriating acts is the presentation of the shooting of the film "Gernika under the bombs", that talks about the life of common people of the town in that time, and how they suffered the bombing. Marc is one of the main characters and they start its shooting in May.

"Can Vermut", the bar owned by Bernat and Alex, is in the port of Mahon, the capital of Menorca. This is a pic of this port:



It's curious, because it has a relationship with El Cor. The ship where Quim died (and David -Alex survived to the accident) was traveling to the Baleares. Bernat and Alex, cousins in the fiction, have now also a business in real life. A business near the sea, so important in Quim and Max's life.

There is also some news about his father, Dr. Clotet. He directs a Spanish instutut of research about AIDS, the IrsiCaixa. Two of its researchers, with a german team of the Heidelberg University, have done some discovery about the way the VIH goes into the cells, and gives a key to stop it. Just 75 years ago, April 26th 1937, the town of Gernika suffered a horrible bombing, whose horror was widespread by Picasso in his most famous picture. The town became a symbol.



As I have told, one of the commemorative acts has been the presentation of the shooting of the miniseries "Gernika under the bombs". Marc plays the main character in this TV movie. I still don`t know who is it. But maybe he's the man of the statue, the war correspondent George Sterr, who explained to the world the tragedy. The important thing Sterr said is who were the criminals who did it: the nazi airforce, whose participation in Franco's side was strongly denied. Sterr was the key witness who proved it (and Marc speaks English).

In a interview, Marc explained his character is Angel, a Gernika's upper class young man (25), who likes very much women and the good life, and hasn't any interest on politics- But the war changed him. It's the same thing that happened with Bernat and his character Karl in BCN ciutat neutral. And also the same character as Vaquero (but FoQ deceived me because they didn't show any change, even when Vaquero passed some time in South America to explain his slimming during the shooting of La Voz Dormida).

In the interview, he says also it's useful for playing Angel all what he learned for playing Paulino (information and feelings of people who lived the war).

Cyrano de Bergerac was a ugly, with a big nose, but a tender man who is in love with the beautiful Roxanne. And has Christian as his friend, despite the young man is also in love with her, and Roxanne also loves Christian because he's handsome. But Christian doesn't know how to speak to her, and Cyrano is a poet. Christian asks Cyrano to write letters to Roxanne as if they were Christian's ones. Cyrano does it because he thinks he's too ugly to get Roxanne's love. And also he says to Christian what he must say to the lady to make her fall in love with him (and Cyrano hides himself after a tree; in the rehearses, both Bernat and Pere hide after a table).

Marc is very involved on progresive things, as the movies he shoots about the Spanish Civil War, or his commitment in the fight against AIDS his father Dr. Clotet is doing. He's playing the main character in the TV movie Gernika under the bombs, that is being shooting until the end of June. And today, his wife Ana de Armas and him have been the hosts of the AIDS Memorial in Barcelona.



Ana and Marc were in a radio program to talk about this commitment. It's a very interesting interview, the first one they do together.

He said he was born and grew up with AIDS. When he was a child, people with AIDS usually died and his father was working 24/7. He has lived the evolution of the illness because his father talked to his family about it. All the Clotet family is very involved on AIDS, and his wife Ana as the new member of the family also does.

The goal of the interview is the broadcasting of the concert "Our songs against AIDS"that will happen in Barcelona (in the Olympic Palau Sant Jordi) next June 8th. A great concert with all the most popular Catalan singers and bands, whose takings are all for the Dr. Clotet' AIDS foundation. Because now with the crisis, they have strong problems to get the money to continue with the research about VIH.

A popular newspaper, El Periódico, is aiding in this goal. It makes people to take part in it voting the Catalan song of their life. The 10 ones most voted will be sung in the concert, and the first one will be sung at the end of the concert together for all the singers and bands.

It talks about the VIH research... and how the scientists of the foundation were surprised when they discovered how music destroy the virus! And the special effect of live music in AIDS.
