There is a very brief glimpse of a gay couple (played by Luke Fetherston and Jordan Peters) in bed together in the trailer for Lifetime's limited series that's a prequel to V.C. Andrews' infamous gothic incestuous family drama, Flowers in the Attic. The origin story looks to be significantly expanded and embellished from the source material, Garden of Shadows, which was published posthumously and mostly (if not entirely) written by Andrews' ghostwriter, Andrew Neiderman. Hollyoaks fans may also catch a glimpse of Callum Kerr who used to play the late, unlamented gay cop George Kiss on the soap. The series will premiere in 3 months' time, on July 9th. http://instagram.com/p/CcENLEqJoLN

At least I think Ed is. It is unknown whether it's brotherly or romantic on Charles' side. They show up on episode 3 of last season and it's heavily suggested the boys are in love with each other.

There's a very, very brief flash of two guys making out in the upcoming Netflix drama Welcome to Eden, debuting on May 6th. I can't tell if either is even a main cast member, and there's a lot more focus on the hetero couples.

Some news on the CW's Gotham Knights adaptation. First, some very bad news: they took a canonically gay character from the comics and made him trans. At first I thought Cullen Row would still be a gay boy who happens to be played by a trans actor (Tyler DiChiara) but they have written into the character description that Cullen is trans.
Now the question is whether Cullen will still be attracted to boys or girls (or both). If a male love interest is to be drawn from the regular cast, there are only two age-appropriate guys (the third is Misha Collins, playing Harvey 'Two-Face' Dent, the dad of one of the female regulars). Both the younger male characters seem to be original characters: Turner Hayes (adopted son of Batman, to be played by Oscar Morgan, who has a pic of him awkwardly kissing another guy - are they just friends or more?) and Brody (an even more mysterious character with no last name or description, announced lately to be cast with Rahart Adams - some are speculating he will be Robin because Brody was one of his aliases, but there is a female character called Carrie Kelley who is described as this universe's Robin). Are either Turner or Brody going to be gay/bi? Turner would be a bold choice, since he's the de facto lead of the whole series. If Brody really is another Robin, then he might be Tim Drake who was recently rebooted as bisexual in the comics; however before that he had a female love interest in Stephanie Brown, who is also one of the regulars on this show.
Gotham Knights will not debut until next year, so we probably have a long wait to find out if it's worth our attention.

Yeah, CW is not bold enough to make their main character gay. And even if Brody is supposed to be Tim Drake, and even if they make him bisexual, you can bet that CW will lean heavily on the female side for future companions. Like they will have a few short scenes where Tim would be flirting with a guy just to show how progressive they are, but any love interest will always end up being with a woman.

Having lost all their other DC shows, I can't see the CW taking a risk on this one by making the leading man queer. Their portrayal of queer males is THE worst so that would be a surefire recipe for cancellation.

Wolfspack New Werewolf Teenshow, from Jeff Davis. End of the year on Paramount+. A summary It gives 4 main roles, one would be gay, called Harlan. Wolf Pack is looking for an 18+ year old man of any ethnicity to play 17 for the role of Harlan. Harlan is described as lean, muscular, and good looking. Harlan identifies as queer. Once a jock he has now found his way to the underground party circuit downtown. Harlan is Luna’s fraternal twin, a bit self-absorbed, a flirt, and a pleasure seeker who lives in the moment. Harlan, like his sister, has always possessed supernatural abilities and knew that they would one day come face to face with strange events from their past. Harlan along with his twin sister Luna, Everett and Blake come together to solve the mystery of what is happening to them. But I don't trust Jeff Davis. So maybe not worth it, but maybe we get surprised, at the end of the year. So I thought it should be mentioned here.

Been burned too much by Jeff Davis. I don't understand why gay showrunners seem to be the worst with gay male representation. Maybe they are afraid of homophobic trolling; I always see gay showrunners subjected to accusations of living vicariously through their gay characters, getting guys shirtless for their own gratification, etc. which I rarely see directed at straight showrunners who showcase straight couples and have opposite-sex actors in some state of undress. Despite them saying it is a main role, it sounds like Everett is the primary male protagonist and Harlan will be supporting his storyline. So once again, the gay sidekick. Pretty disheartening considering the Teen Wolf fandom has been ready for a queer male lead since Stiles, but I'll give Jeff the benefit of the doubt here because he may be constrained by the source material, which I don't believe had any prominent gay characters. In other news, there's some speculation about whether or not there will be a queer male character later in this season of Stranger Things. Don't read if you haven't watched the first part of season 4. www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a40079884/stranger-things-will-gay-lgbtq-queer/ You'd think we are beyond queer-coded characters and breadcrumbs like this! Bad Education will return for a final 45-minute special which is expected to serve as a springboard to a spin-off series that will star out actor Layton Williams (whose character is also gay) as one of the co-leads, alongside Charlie Wernham, whom soap fans may recognize from his roles on Hollyoaks and EastEnders. Their characters, previously problematic students of Jack Whitehall, now find themselves on the other side of the teacher's desk. www.digitalspy.com/tv/a39979169/jack-whitehall-confirms-bad-education-return/

It is mostly a new Buffy Show, which in general a lesbian couple and only a gay site character. But a great show.

It looks like there might be a gay character/couple on the upcoming Netflix Italia series DI4RIES which is set in a middle school. One boy tells another, "You're more than just a friend to me" and then they kiss. Both actors, Biagio Venditti and Pietro Sparvoli, are regular cast members. The series debuts on July 26. A bit more on the gay couple: http://instagram.com/p/CfT5n9Bjg0Q

If anyone believes the gay situation on Rebelde will improve in season 2, it drops on 27 July. They just posted this music video (which is pretty dire, IMO).

Prisma is another Italian series - this time from Prime Video - which looks to have some queer content: Any news of when this is premiering? Unfortunately I haven't seen a date beyond "autumn" so I would assume some time between September and November (probably the earlier half since they already have a trailer out).

ETA: So don't say gay. www.gaytimes.co.uk/culture/stranger-things-stars-address-wills-sexuality-its-2022-and-we-dont-have-to-label-things/Yeah... Teen Wolf has such a spotty history with gay characters, but then so do a lot of these teen supernatural shows (see Vampire Diaries). The gay rep wasn't worse than other shows of its time (2011 - 2017), but it wasn't appreciably better despite Jeff Davis bringing up his gay card in interviews. I am hopeful for this Wolfpack show though. Even if Harlan is not the main protagonist, being one of the top 4 cast is still a huge upgrade over the gays of Teen Wolf. And let's not forget that while Tyler Posey was ostensibly the star of the show, I'd argue that Dylan O'Brien and Tyler Hoechlin are much bigger stars today.

The spanish daily cop show Servir y proteger is adding two gay characters for the next season.
I fin odd that they never had a gay cop in any of their seasons (at least 6) even they have gay characters before (generally the bad guys). The show had two lesbian regular characters (and had a trans cop in a previous season)
