As others have said, the delay and back and forth in the progress of the relationship is very apropos for the guy's ages and awareness of their homophobic environment. I am not disappointed and my guess as to the missing backstory turned out to be correct. I don't know how far the "event" Blas and Junior shared years before had gone, but I am guessing from their behavior that it was quite intimate as they have no misgivings about appearing naked in front of each other. .
Though I had little resistance from family or friends when I came out at 15, with a crush on a friend, I didn't stop dating girls for the next 2 years, but starting out with a first BF required far more time to develop than you would think. And my next BF took 6 months of close friendship and endless hangout time till it finally turned into something. He was incredibly hesitant and unsure. In both cases there was no religious problem and little homophobia to counter. It was simply the nature of the beast that it is not that easy to comprehend and self identify, particularly if you are in some way bisexual or biromantic.

SPOILER WARNING Just gonna quote itoldheraboutyou on tumblr, because it's literally how I feel about this storyline right now. There is no excuse anymore, it's simply bad writing and bad storytelling. just saw the promo for tomorrow. how many times does junior have to be hurt and jealous over blas making out with ailin ? i get it, it’s a soap opera and they’re a slow burn. but it’s getting repetitive, like there’s no advancement being made in their storyline. i know that realistically there’s never a time limit for someone figuring out their sexuality and i’d never want to disrespect that but there’s literally nowhere else for their friendship to go at this point, their connection is already strong. we’re just kind of at a pause right now. something needs to happen, they can’t just keep running around each other like this. Looks like junior may have a big day coming up ! Can't wait. Also i found that blasniorsub.tumblr.com translates alot of the blasniorteam clips from youtube and daily motion. While it's not all the scenes, it's plentiful. There was a scene translated where Blas was talking about his ex Oliver. It sort of explains why he hasn't jumped into a relationship w Junior right away. |

The first scene is Junior asking what would be the problem if he liked guys, to which his brother replies "no problem", and Junior concludes by saying it seems like there is a problem as "everybody" seems to be talking about this topic. The second scene is with Junior's brothers asking him what he wanted to talk to them, and he saying he wants to talk about something and that they need to be more open-minded. The third little scene is Blas saying its not his place answering anything The final scene is Junior asking if his dad doesn't have anything better to do than talking about him all the time, that this things are his personal stuff and asking why it should matter what he does with his sexuality. His dad replies by saying he knows Junior and knows he's confused, to which Junior responds by saying his dad has no idea about what happens to him and that doesn't know him at all |

This storyline is sooo slow! Also, people on this show have serious boundary issues. Everyone is always eavesdropping on everyone and it never seems to be a problem.
