Any news of a release date? I'm looking forward to it but the whole 'scandal' about the trailer gives me pause ... Talk about manufactured controversies. Now working out is something to be discouraged? Why not regulate a maximum number of hours an individual is permitted to spend at the gym? Better yet, they should just mandate physically fit people to wear baggy, shapeless clothes and paper bags over their heads. This is taking sensitivity to ridiculous lengths. My fear is that it will compel the show to keep the guys clothed in the new season and inevitably rob us of physical intimacy between the guys in the way Noura and William were depicted last season. Well, the broadcaster defended the trailer. They said they respect that people disagree but that they did nothing wrong. So I think you are reading too much into it. As for the premiere date, idk. I read an article about two of the actors. They said they usually get the script two weeks in advance, and that they haven't seen any scripts for the new season yet. Then again.. they (William and Vilde) probably aren't the main focus this season anyway, that should be Isak.

They might have defended the trailer but that doesn't mean it won't influence the way they write and film the series. Especially when it seems the new season isn't written yet. They wouldn't be the first network to say one thing and do another, least of all when they're confronted by 'experts' who are offended by the casting department's failure to hire overweight actors and extrapolate that to damaging the psyche of vulnerable Norwegian youth. That's a pretty serious accusation (unfounded though it may be) to level at a show that is targeting the youth market, so I cannot imagine that it will pass without any consequences. Season 1 premiered the last week of September last year, so we have about 6 weeks to that date. I assume from what you said, that the actors get the scripts 2 weeks before filming, not airing, so that gives them about 4 weeks, in which they need to film and edit the material. And I don't expect they will rush to broadcast until they have more episodes in the can, so I have my doubts whether they can make a late September premiere. I do hope we get it before winter rolls around.

So far the only thing they have revealed about the new season is that it will focus on Isak and that he will be bi/gay. We know nothing more. William and Vilde might not even be featured much in the new season anyway, so I wouldn't be too worried that they hadn't seen any scripts yet. That said, we know that it will air this fall, which means it could be as early as September or as late as November. I agree with you though that it looks like September might be a bit early, my guess is early October, but like I said, just a guess. I'll try to check the news and I will post here as soon as there's any new information about the new season.

The actor playing William, Thomas Hayes, has quit the show. He wanted to do "something else". It won't affect the current season though, because he quit before they wrote the new scripts. He was given the opportunity to renew his contract, but said no. Of course this comes as a shock to most people as he was the show's big star. And now all the teenage fangirls say they won't watch anymore. Some fangirls even started crying! lol Here is the article: www.vg.no/rampelys/skam/william-slutter-i-skam/a/23762906/

Well I can't say it is good news. I wonder why he participated in the season 3 trailer and even gave an interview where it was inplied he was waiting for the new scripts, only to quit before filming. Hope it won't be a sign of things to come. Why must these things happen right before the much awaited season focussed on a LGBT character?
And how depressing is it that they haven't even scripted s3? That suggests it won't air until the tail end of autumn.

Has it ever been confirmed they were going to start airing the episodes the same time they did last year? I thought that was just speculation on our part. Didin't it just say "fall 2016" and if so fall hasn't even started yet, fall is literally September, October and November.

Yes, they have only said "autumn 2016"/"fall 2016", @overtherainbow. My immediate thought after reading this interview was that there might have been something that has caused a slight delay. And it is indeed speculation on my part.

No, I don't think they ever said it would premiere in September, it was just our speculation based on last year's premiere date. But I do get the feeling that there has been some delay, I'm just not sure it's because Thomas Hayes quit or if they needed to recast Eskild (should the actor's college plans prevent him from participating in the new season) or they needed to revise the script to avoid offending the activist brigade. By saying "autumn 2016" they can premiere the season anytime right up to 30th November, LOL.

Why would they have a new female character in a season that focuses on Isak being gay? Sadly I'm losing more and more faith in this show, oh well.

I don't know any more than what it says in the article, @overtherainbow. NRK (the broadcaster) is being very tight-lipped about it all so far, all they do is confirm facts after being confronted about content which doesn't air in a while. But one speculation of mine so far is that this new girl might get some of the screen time that girl Chris would have gotten (the actress started studying acting at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts this autumn). Or maybe it's due to the fact that the actor who played William quit, and then the new script goes in a different direction? Two guesses on my part that probably are incorrect.

I can't see why William would have had such a big part to play in Isak's story anyway - Isak's best friend is Jonas and if they need a popular jock type to react to Isak's coming-out then there's still (male) Chris - they can easily give him William's lines. Under those circumstances, I wouldn't think the William actor's departure will necessitate significant rewrites - unless he was supposed to be Isak's secret crush or hook-up.
At least NRK didn't go out of their way to appease the activists by casting an overweight actress for this new role. With the Eskild actor also possibly not returning - isn't he also supposed to start acting school? - maybe she will be Isak's love interest and we learn that he is bisexual. Or maybe she is a lesbian who will share some coming-out experience with Isak. Or they could be going the whole hog and making her Isak's transgender love interest - in which case I hope they have cast an actual transgender actor because otherwise the manufactured controversy over the season 3 trailer will seem like a storm in a teacup compared to the backlash NRK will face.

So was there any new info from the talkshow?
Not sure I am a fan of Tarjei's new hairstyle but at least he is the featured character. At least I hope that remains the case. Please tell me the talkshow confirmed that.

justinate: Isak is still the new main character for season 3. The actor Tarjei confirmed to the newspaper VG (one of the big Norwegian, national newspapers) that Isak's sexual orientation will be a topic for season 3. Here's the article with a picture of Tarjei from the talkshow: www.vg.no/rampelys/tv/skam/skam-josefine-om-sin-nye-deltidsjobb-jeg-jobber-som-telefonselger/a/23794364/ Josefine, who plays Noora, told VG that Tarjei is a smart and clever boy who can handle the pressure of playing the main character. During the talkshow last Friday, Josefine and Tarjei talked with the host about things such as their passion for acting, and another Norwegian actor, Aksel Hennie (has played in Max Manus (2008) and The Martian (2015)), was also a guest. Tarjei was asked if Aksel is someone he admires, and Tarjei said that Aksel has succeeded 100 % in having a long acting career so far. The host of the show asked Tarjei about how they solve it when they're supposed to film that they're drinking alcohol. They talked about how they just fill beer cans with water. Tarjei also said that the creator of Skam, director and scriptwriter Julie Andem, would sometimes ask the actors if they thought she was going in the right direction with the manuscript. Josefine also talked for a while about how she was mistaken for being the character Noora when she was at a bar, so she had to explain to the workers at the bar very thoroughly about the fact that Noora is just a character in a TV series, and that she is an actress.

In this article from today: www.nrk.no/kultur/nesten-70.000-dansker-ser-pa-_skam_-1.13150113 (in Norwegian), they say the premiere date will be this autumn/fall but they don't have a date set yet. They also talk about how 70,000 Danish people are watching Skam through the Norwegian websites. Many of them have begun watching after a big Danish newspaper wrote about the series.
